The cart at Wall St. Plaza (88 Pine)

Love this Vietnamese truck! Great tasting dishes at fair prices. I've had maybe 5-7 different things on offer, and every dish has been a home run. The other day I got a pork baguette (on the spicy side), and it was so good! Really nice seasonings with the right amount of veggies on top. I don't think this can be improved upon, I really don't. If you're a fan of VN food, and you work (or live) in the Wall St. Plaza (88 Pine) area, where it's now set up, then you owe it to yourself to check this truck out. Trust me; you'll love it!

***Cart temporarily relocated to 88 Pine Street as of May**** Came a few times to try their rice and noodle dishes. I would definitely stick with the banh mis as the other dishes are not as flavorful. However, still a great value for the amount of food you get in FiDi. I do notice that he is getting busier but he is still very quick.

4.6/5.0 I was in the area and I wanted to try a cheap eats in FiDi, and this popped up on the search. $8 for a special sandwich (classic kind) was a good deal!! For the food quality for the price I'd give 5.0 but I LOVE Banh Mi so so so much that I have had better ones before. I think the baguette is a LITTLE too big. I prefer a little crispier and smaller baguette to balance the inside of the sandwich. But I have no complaints otherwise. It was delicious and the service was efficient and great!! Also there's Seaport nearby where you can sit and eat so that was nice:)

Came by on Wednesday afternoon. Got a spicy #1 Special Baguette ($8) #1 Baguette (6.5/10): This was a big sandwich stuffed with pork and vegetables. The bread got a great crust and pillowy insides. The vegetables were refreshing. The meat was meh-basic sliced meat. The spicy sauce wasn't very spicy but the jalapeños added a little kick. Overall the sandwich was a bit bland but made for a decent meal. Would recommend if you're hungry, like bread, and want an affordable quick meal.

Tried the roast pork and grilled pork - loved them!! Roast pork one reminds me of HK char siu. Super filling with a generous portion of meat. Not so much veggies as other banh mi places though if you prefer that. Bread is also not super crispy or hard where it scrapes the top of your mouth which I appreciate! Looking forward to buying more esp with the reasonable pricing!

Been coming to this cart infrequently, but for 8yrs. Can't comment whether it's been the same owners throughout, but it's been the same cart, slinging the same sandwiches on the same corner the whole time. A bit amazing. The sandwiches are pretty's tasty, pretty large and pretty filling. Combine that with a $6-7 price point (cash) and I think you have yourself a pretty good deal, especially in the Wall Street area where a sandwich or salad at other spots run between $9-13

I got the pork chop over vermicelli. It was a good portion for the price. Pork chop tasted great coming from a food cart. Super nice team working inside too.

Still operating during the non hustle and bustle of fidi. I tried the grilled pork vermicelli-- albeit not very authentic flavors, they did give a lot of meat. The bowl itself was constructed nicely... but the terribleness was when I poured over what I thought was the sweet fish sauce. The sauce was terrible, it taste like straight vinegar and really messed up the flavors of the bowls. Half way through I ate all the pork and tossed the rest of noodles cause it just wasn't appetizing. Next time stick with the banh mi

The beef pho here is so good. If you live/work/go to school around this area and craving hot noodles, this place is the way to go. It's only 10 dollars but it's so good for the price. It's a big portion and it has beef, cilantro, bean sprouts, rice noodles, soup, basil leaf, and lime on it. It's salty but the good kind and very savory. It's perfect.

I love that there's finally another good place for banh mi sandwiches other than Banh Mi Saigon in Chinatown. I've been here multiple times and it's located right by the Starbucks and Dunkin' Donuts on Water Street in South Street Seaport. They usually sell out of the Special Baguette but I think the Grilled Pork Baguette is better. There's nothing special about the sliced pork and the grilled pork also comes with pate. What more could you ask for? You can definitely get your lunch within 10 mins. and it'll still be warm by the time you get back to the office. Give them a try if you're looking for a quick bite!

Pleasant service. Get their #1 special sandwich ($6; cash only) and ask for extra meat (just a buck more) - that'll make their sandwich offering as big as a normal banh mi anywhere else. The crunchy baguettes they use generate a ton of breadcrumbs, so eat over a wastebasket or something. Bonus! Their summer rolls ($4) are what you'd expect from any average Vietnamese eatery BUT their bean sauce is surprisingly spicy. (Don't worry, it's not spicy like the jalapenos in their special sandwich.)

Having this cart so close to me at my job makes the extra 2 dollars above the average price for a Banh Mi sandwich worth it. The wait can be long but it is better then going half a mile to Chinatown. The ingredients are a nice balance of hot, sweet, fresh, crunchy and yummy. For $9 you get a sandwich and soap combo. Yea, it is not the cheapest but sometimes it is worth it. Tip: Go early; on a nice day the line can be 10-15 minutes long just to order. Look for me sitting over a Hanover square with a sandwich.

    Lemongrass pork
    James B.

I got the lemongrass pork on rice stick here, there was not an ounce of lemongrass flavor on it and the pork was dried out. The price is good and the people are nice. I'll stop by if i am absolutely desperate for vietnamese food.

Sorry Bongo Bros, but you were a disappointment :(. I actually heard of this place through foodtoeat.com if anyone wants to check it out. There are a lot of other cool street vendors on the site. I like experimenting with food carts so it's pretty useful for that.

A. suggested Mexican food, and I'm kind of snobby and begrudging about getting Mexican food in NYC since I always go back to Houston and gorge. We ended up getting a normal one, but I'm working on charming them into making breakfast tacos for me. They were kind enough to speak to me all in Spanish. Necesito practicar. Everything was great. My favorite was the al pastor. The chorizo was a little more dry and crumbly than I'm used to, but it was delicious (and less greasy). Double-corn-tortilla for every taco, like it should be. Platters of lamb, chicken, salad, fries, rice, and salmon were laid out on our big rectangular table ready to get torched. I loaded up my plate with chicken, lamb, and salad. The salad included these little dolmades, which are just rice wrapped grape leaves but they are crack. I will lowkey eat anything wrapped in a grape leaf these days... But don't be expecting some sarcastic-ass review that tells you just how terrible this joint is so I can have it all to myself. So, let's be clear - this place is good. And I sincerely want you to stay far, far away. That being said, this truck's not found at different locations on different days of the week, tracked down by Twitter-savvy foodies. No, it's tucked itself away in a parking lot off Spring Street between Hudson and Varick (ridiculously referred to as the Hudson Square Urban Courtyard on the website), mostly hidden from pedestrian peripheral vision unless being specifically sought out (something we both now know you wouldn't dare). And, to be honest, its virtual non-existence on food truck blogs doesn't make it any more exclusive or underground or cooler than its nomadic brethren. However, (just when you were wondering when the hell we were going to get to the barbecue bit) it does so happen to make a super-addicting, super-satisfying, super-delicious BBQ Pulled Chicken Sandwich. And I'm super-serious. On any given workday, I know that this tremendous lunch option (packaged at $10 with a side and Strawberry Lemonade) is available to me, further evidenced by the free sandwich that awaits me on my next visit from my five-time punched Katchie Card kept in my wallet. Served on a Martin's potato roll and with a BBQ sauce that sits only a notch or two thicker than the vinegar-thin finish of a Carolina variety, this sandwich only gets better with a melted slice of New York State Cheddar. I gotta say, I was certainly skeptical of cheese on pulled poultry at first, but after giving it a go, it's got my blessing. Yet if chicken just ain't your thing, the Katchkie Farm Veggie Burger is a fantastic alternative, which, mind you, you won't hear me say about veggie burgers all too often. And I really don't know what type of vegetables they mash up and destroy in order to form this patty, but the end result is something decidedly not cardboard-like. Joined by a thick tomato slice, their homemade tomato jam, and their homemade chive roll, and we've got a pretty strong back-up plan put into place. Their sides can either be a little too stingy (a small helping of their sounds-better-than-it-really-is Potato Salad with Eggs and Dill) or a little too simple (the just-plain-boring Heirloom Tomato and Cucumber Salad). And while I personally enjoy the aforementioned Strawberry Lemonade, I recognize it might be a little too sweet for some. The Katchkie Truck is part of the Great Performances catering company, which seems like quite the classy operation with the high-quality, farm-fresh hook-up just two hours north of the city. They also have occasional specials, where I've heard rumors of a Duck Confit Quesadilla. The two-man crew working the [im]mobile kitchen are a friendly bunch, but the service can be on the slow side. The low count of in-the-know customers helps out in spades here as this handful of people in line seems to be just the speed for the staff. Naturally, if there is a spike in numbers, I'm gonna find out. Seriously, I'm here pretty much every week. And you can be sure I'll be the creep judging you from across the lot, staring you down uncomfortably with eyes that scold you for not heeding my warning, complete with a BBQ Pulled Chicken Sandwich hanging out my mouth. That's just how I roll, sucka.

There were limited items on the menu, 2 small salads, 2 sandwiches, and hot dogs, along with some chips, cookies, and drinks. We opted to try the chicken and veggie sandwiches and yum, did they hit the spot. Everything was fresh as can be and the gentleman offered to toast the sandwiches for us. The charred chicken sandwich was served on pretzel bun with provolone cheese, BBQ sauce, and a summer slaw, while the veggie sandwich was wheat bread with summer squash, eggplant, radish, and homemade pesto. I also tried the blackberry lemonade which was fresh and tasty but did not have a ton of flavor (definitely made from scratch and no sugar added) so might not be for everyone. Will definitely eat here again if we see the bright green truck around the city!
