Their bowls are solid. Feels healthy LOL. I stopped by after my nail tech recommended Urban Space as a cute food hall nearby. I definitely thought Bao was one of the tastier-looking options in the building. Bummed that they were out of boba for the night (there's no boba in fidi.......!!!). Ample shared seating all throughout Urban Space. Despite a small line and only one employee at the counter, my order only took 10~ mins! RED CURRY CHICKEN: IMO not the curry I was expecting (I thought it'd be more creamy), but still tasty. More like a savory stewed chicken. The dressing is tangy & sweet, went well with the fresh veg. Didn't feel heavy. Portions are good albeit a bit pricy ($16 after taxes, before tip). I did appreciate that the menu has east Asian comfort foods, like Lu Rou, Pork Belly, and Popcorn Chicken. If I'm ever in Fidi again, I'd want to see if their Lu Rou is authentically Taiwanese :P

I've had BAO a few times and have normally been satisfied, a tiny box of popcorn chicken and spring rolls costs $17, which is quite steep given the small portion but y ou are in FiDi. The chicken was a little gooey, which tends to gross me out otherwise the meal itself was pretty good. I was surprised at how spicy the spring rolls were. Overall a good experience - they have bubble tea if you look at the menu closely.

It seems to be that the way I find my favorite spots are completely unexpected! Walking down Water Street, amidst a ton of street construction, I noticed this food hall, Urban Space, with lots of food names on the windows. The one that stood out to me the most was "Bao Buns". When I went inside of this food hall, I immediately looked for the spot selling bao buns. Long story short, I ordered one curry chicken bao bun just to try. It was AMAZING! I had asked the gentleman working there if it would be too spicy and his explanation was spot on: it was about a 6 in spice level, felt more like a kick of heat. The flavors were perfection, the bao buns were the softest, there was a great ratio between chicken and the toppings, everything was the perfect! I went back for a second right after going back to thank the gentlemen for the great recommendation! Next time I stop by Urban Space, I will once again go straight to Bao By Kaya, but this time I'll order one of their combos which include different variations of bao buns, and other food options like popcorn chicken, dumplings, spring rolls, etc.

This place is pretty decent! Got a combo that came with 2 baos and popcorn chicken. Added the bubble tea but I could do without it because it wasn't the best boba. But the baos and popcorn chicken were very delicious! They ran out of duck baos so got the pork belly and the curry chicken. Would come back to try the other items!

Dan Dan noodles were delicious. Just stumbled up this place but I would definitely eat here again.

Not a fan, the pork was very grisly the bao flat was sweet the combination was not to my liking. The texture of the chicken was hard and cold. This was an overpriced meal.

Went to Bao By Kaya for lunch on Thursday afternoon. I was impressed by their signature item, and would recommend not straying from that section of the menu. Quality: I ordered a Combo with two Baos and Popcorn Chicken, as well as an extra Bao. This is definitely a place where the Bao is the star. I tried the Pork Belly Bao, Red Curry Chicken Bao, and Peking Duck Bao. The Red Curry Chicken Bao was my favorite, extremely unique and flavorful, but each of options was worth a try. I was not crazy about the Popcorn Chicken, it felt like it had been sitting too long, which is a little concerning during a lunch rush. Quantity: More filling than you expect. Value: $12-14 for Combos. $5.50 for Baos. Ambiance: Bao By Kaya is part of the Urbanspace Food Hall in FiDi. They had a small spot right in the middle of the space. It is a bit of an awkward spot, not really creating space for those waiting for food. No individual seating at this spot, but plenty of tables in the common area. Crowd: A busy spot in the Food Hall, with at least a dozen people waiting for their orders. Service: Quick even with a fairly long line. Parking: Difficult street parking.

Located within the historic Chelsea Market building--a former Nabisco factory where Oreo cookies were first produced--the restaurant feels theatrical in the best possible way. The soaring ceilings, dramatic lighting, and energetic atmosphere create a sense of occasion from the moment you walk in. It feels less like simply going out to dinner and more like stepping into a beautifully staged production. I started with a Botanist Gin Martini with a twist, which paired wonderfully with the meal. The surprise star of the evening was the new Cucumber Tiger Salad. The balance of flavors was exceptional: bright acidity, a pleasant touch of heat, and just enough mint to make each bite feel fresh and exciting. Every so often the mint would come through and suddenly all the flavors would click together in a way that made me immediately want another bite. This is a dish I would happily order again. Next came the Edamame Dumplings. They were delicate and comforting, especially when enjoyed with the accompanying broth. The broth adds depth and richness that elevates the entire dish. My only suggestion would be the slightest touch more salt, perhaps even a finishing sprinkle of black volcanic salt for both flavor and presentation. I also found myself wishing there were a bit more of that delicious broth because it contributes so much to the overall experience. For my entrée, I ordered the Glazed Alaskan Black Cod, and it absolutely lived up to its reputation. The fish was rich, buttery, and perfectly prepared. What impressed me most was how thoughtfully the accompaniments were composed. The pickled cucumbers brought brightness, acidity, and crunch, while the black bean and eggplant relish delivered deep savory notes and unexpected complexity. I'm generally not an eggplant fan, but this relish was outstanding. The cucumbers and relish sit at opposite ends of the flavor spectrum, yet both somehow make the cod even better. Looking back, I think a glass of Sauvignon Blanc alongside the cod would have been the perfect pairing. I finished with the Miso Caramel Milk Bar, which was spectacular. Decadent, sweet, salty, and touched with just enough umami to keep every bite interesting. The chocolate crumble underneath added a wonderful crunch that contrasted beautifully with the creamy ice cream and luscious caramel sauce. Every component worked together perfectly, creating a dessert that was both indulgent and sophisticated. From start to finish, the meal felt polished, thoughtful, and memorable. Thank you!

I also tried the Blush cocktail which was similar to a lychee martini. I loved it and it was perfectly sweet. I will say the portions are small for the price but everything we got was delicious + the service was fast. - Complimentary pretzel bread (4.5/5): buttery goodness. this alone is worth coming here for, and it tastes so good with the butter! one of the top complimentary bread at a restaurant - Tuna nicoise rice cake (5/5): generous amount of caviar, tastes so fresh and delightful - Truffle sashimi (5/5): fish was so fresh, paired with thinly sliced green onions and caviar. Stronger truffle flavor - Crudo di Catch (5/5): one of the thinnest crudo you will find. So delicious, light, fresh and bright! - Baked crab rolls (4.5/5): these were the perfect size and the crab inside is so large and plump and juicy - Hellfire roll (3.5/5): not my favorite (spicy tuna is mushy) but I am also not a huge spicy tuna lover. Its really good though but wish there was a bit more crunch factor in the roll - Otoro with caviar (4/5): classic, tastes as you expect, nothing mindblowing - Lobster mac and cheese (5/5): highly highly recommend. The lobster chunks are delicious and the rigatoni is perfectly al dente. Does not even taste too cheesy which is why I loved it so much - tasted more like vodka rigatoni with lobster :D - NY streak (4/5): I'm not a huge steak person but this was pretty good. Cooked medium, nice amount of fat without too much, and a nice crispy crust. Also thin enough too my liking so it does not feel overly heavy - Baby bok choy salad (4/5): I actually really liked this one - thought it was super light and refreshing and perfectly complemented the steak. Had a nice crunch factor from the bokchoy and candied pumpkin seeds Amazing meal, great for a group or celebration when you want to splurge a bit!

My friend and I were heading somewhere else for dinner, but our original spot was closed for a private event. We decided to pivot and come here instead, and it worked out very much in our favor! I actually just got back from a trip to Thailand, so I went in with high hopes but a curious mind about how the authenticity and flavors would compare. While there were naturally a few little differences in taste here and there compared to being on the ground in Thailand, it didn't dim the deliciousness whatsoever. The food here is absolutely stellar. We decided to sit at the bar, and both bartenders who looked after us were incredibly friendly, helpful, and super clear when explaining the specials. I asked one of them for their favorite recommendations, and it did not disappoint. Here is what we ordered: Pineapple Fried Rice ($21): We ordered it without adding any protein, and it was packed with flavor. Highly recommend. Pad Thai ($24): We added beef to this one, but honestly, the noodles were so incredibly flavorful on their own that it didn't even need the additive! Thong Pan Sai Gai ($17): These looked almost like little tacos but were uniquely delicious. Papaya Salad ($16) & Satay Spring Rolls ($16): Perfect, fresh starters to kick off the meal. Mango Sticky Rice ($17): A must try for dessert. They use purple rice for this, and it was so yummy. For drinks, my friend ordered a Lycheetini ($19) and loved it. I had the Tangmo, Tangmo, Tangmo ($20) which was nice and refreshing. Even though our meal was a mix of great apps and sides, it was incredibly filling. We actually walked out with leftovers. The prices are very fair for the quality and portion sizes you get. We will absolutely be returning!
