Fried red snapper, black eyed peas and cabbage!
    Myphuong L.

We read that black eye peas and cabbage was a good luck dish for the new year. So we came across Bankhead and made the drive down south. This place has a sit down area or you can order take out. The food is premade and set up in cafeteria style. We ordered the lunch special (11am-3pm $10 T-F only) which had 5 choice of main and 4 choice of sides. We picked fried chicken with Mac n cheese. The chicken was crispy but the seasoning was nothing special. Reminded me of other places. The Mac was over cooked and very buttery. Came with a drink. Also got a meal with fried red snapper, black eyes peas and cabbage. Came with relish tartar sauce and corn bread. We also tried the pork ribs. The ribs were baked and overly tender and soft that it fell right off the bones. My favorite would be the ribs, black eye peas and cabbage. There are specials pretty much every day of the week. On weekends they have oxtails and beef ribs. Live music on Saturdays.

Lunch special on Wednesday. Ordered Hot Links and Chicken Gumbo. Hot links were tasty but I expected some browning, they looked and tasted like cooked on bed of onions. Onions were delicious. Chicken Gumbo was not the business. I was disappointed there was carrots, corn, and peas. And I don't think there was no roux cooked as base. Notb going to order next time

I love beef, ribs, and on Saturdays this spot has beef ribs. Came where with a bunch of friends and we wanted to try a little bit of everything. We each got a beef rib and loved them. Then we each got a piece of fried chicken and catfish. The catfish here was amazing. I tried the sides of potatoe salad and mac & cheese both yummy. I also had a baked chicken. They had an oxtail stew and I had an oaxtail and it was fire ! Since it was Saturday they had live music and all ! Restaurant was clean & cashier was helpful. Last item I got was the peach cobbler I tried for the first time ! Definitely coming back here to try more items!

We stopped here for a quick pickup. I have been wanting to try this place out recently, and today I am able to actually do so. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the staff member. We saw several trays of good southern style cooked food upon display. She was able to have our order ready and we thanked her. There were 2 plumbers that were also coming in for food after us. Everyone is trying to get this good food today, nice. Food was packed well and tasted great. I will surely come back to try more food out. They are about to close and since it is 1 hour before closing the dining room lights were off and all tables were packed up (chairs on top of table for mopping).

Been looking for oxtail. Came for the oxtail. Did NOT disappoint!! Tender, juicy & seasoned well. I chose red beans & rice and greens for my sides. My fiancé had the fried catfish and pork ribs, his sides were mac n cheese and potato salad. Service was nice and fast. The cashier was very friendly. They also had live music. We went on a Saturday afternoon

Tender brisket in brown sauce was tender and flavorful. Yummy Mac cheese and yams

Super friendly and fast service. Fried catfish was cooked to order, piping hot and crispy. Breading wasn't heavy or salty, plump pieces of catfish were delicious. Washed it down with lemonade tropical punch!

Smothered chicken and potatoes, hot links, corn, green beans, cabbage, meatloaf, MAC and cheese, ribs, yams.

The first time I went, it felt dark. This time, during daylight, I was able to get a better sense of the options. Such a variety of food available & it all taste good! The BBQ chicken and ribs specifically remind me of the ones my father would make back in Rhode Island, and it brings such nostalgia. I like Too Good To Go because I have a hard time picking and I would rather someone surprise me. This time I ordered 4 and I was surprised again because I got to try new stuff! I still ordered the BBQ chicken on the side because it's amazing

I've finally was able to try this restaurant out. The ambiance has a down home feeling and customer service was great. I did enjoy the flavor and tenderness of the ribs. The fried fish was perfectly cooked and seasoned. I also enjoyed the greens and sweet potato. I wasn't impressed with the mac n cheese. The noodles seemed over cooked and it tasted bland. The tropical lemonade was good and so was the banana pudding dessert.

This menu looks yummy. Has anyone been there since the closure? Would you recommend it?

My son told me about this place. He went Tuesday and said he thought his fish was rather dark, but when he asked about it, he was given friendly advice...ask for it to be soft fried. 🤗. I tasted the left overs he had...O M G!!! Bbq beef, green…

The staff was very gracious in the face of the huge crowd and a mountain of orders. The location is spacious with plenty of room to line up and tables to sit and eat or wait on orders. The parking was easy too which was a bonus. For food we got two orders of the big greedy with yams, greens, baked beans and the new mushroom rice. I will stress that everything was excellent and we would get this exact order again, but a few particular standouts were 1) Fried Catfish. Our favorite protein by far. It was deliciously seasoned, perfectly fried, and succulently tender, 2) Candied Yams. They were sweet, tender and nicely balanced, 3) Mushroom Parmesan Rice. We only tried this because so many of the other sides were sold out and man are we glad we did. Our family tore this side up! The mushroom parm gravy was smooth and creamy with large chunks of mushroom. Definitely a great addition to the sides list. Our family can't wait to go back and try more of what CBB has to offer. So glad they've got a brick and mortar restaurant now!

Decor was chill and noise volume was low-medium. Overall 10/10. Food favs of today: brisket(one of the best I have had from a restaurant) it was tender, packed full of flavor and had the perfect balance of meat, fat, and rub. Cole slaw was great and I'm not a fan of Cole slaw usually! Rack of Ribs were good! Macaroni salad, potato salad were flavored well! Caesar salad was fresh and dressing tasty. My friend liked the jalapeño cornbread but it was too spicy for me. It had great flavor it's just personally my stomach would reject that spice. Next time I'll try the wedding beans and other food items. Bartender was friendly so I might come back just to hit up the bar area as well! It's a far drive of 20 mins for each of us but it's well worth it.

Recently, I brought my father and my boyfriend for his first visit, expecting the same quality experience I had enjoyed for years. Unfortunately, this visit was extremely disappointing. The menu has been significantly reduced, offering only a limited selection of options, while prices have increased substantially. I ordered the half chicken with brisket as my additional side for $38. When my meal arrived, I received only two pieces of chicken and a single piece of brisket. Upon cutting into the chicken, I noticed blood on the plate and the meat appeared pink. As I am currently pregnant, I did not feel comfortable eating it and asked our server if the chicken could be cooked longer. Instead, the manager came to the table holding my plate and explained that the chicken had been checked with a thermometer and was safe to eat. When I expressed my concerns regarding my pregnancy, he rolled his eyes and told me to choose something else rather than offering to cook the chicken further. I then asked if I could receive additional brisket since I was no longer comfortable eating the chicken. The manager responded, "That will cost more," and walked away. When my replacement arrived, I was served only two very small pieces of brisket and was charged extra for them. I am genuinely shocked by the lack of professionalism and customer service from the management team. Combined with the increased prices and noticeably smaller portions, the overall value simply is not there anymore. For longtime loyal customers, this experience was especially disappointing. After sharing my experience with family and friends, several decided not to visit, and unfortunately, I will not be returning either. The quality, portion sizes, and customer service no longer justify the cost. If you are looking for both quality and value, I would recommend considering other options.

The fried shrimp had great flavor and seasoning on the breading. I personally would've liked them fried just a little harder for a bit more crisp, but they were still very tasty and fresh. The mac & cheese was creamy, rich, and definitely one of the highlights of the plate. The red beans & rice had a good hearty flavor, though it was a little on the salty side for my taste. For dessert, I had the peach cobbler. The flavor was really good and comforting, but I would've liked a little more juice in it. It would also be great if they offered an option to heat the cobbler, which would take it to another level. Interior is cute , screams New Orleans. They had one person working counter she was busy in the phone trouble shooting some software so I just ordered on the tablet. Overall, generous portions and good Southern comfort food. I'd definitely come back and try more items on the menu.
