Our area is an HOA in Broward and as you know, we always need companies that are quick and efficient to do their job and they are the best. If I had to do it all over again, I would never have signed the contract, which stated: "South Florida Tropical Tree Care & Landscape Services is not liable for any unseen underground utilities or irrigation." On Tuesday, April 12, 2022, they completed the job, and I proudly took pictures of how great it looked. The next day, both the toilets in my home were backed up and nearly overflowing. By the day after that, the shower in one bathroom and the bathtub in the other were filling up with backed-up dirt. After my handyman used a snake to try to clear up the blockage, he suggested I call Roto Rooter, as his equipment was not sufficient.  That Friday, Roto Rooter came and repaired the broken sewer pipes, which they said could only have been caused by the landscaping work. The original job cost $3,121.50, and Roto Rooter's work on the pipes came to another $3,750. I then texted Winston Wilkerson at South Florida Tropical Tree Care to ask what he was going to do about the underground damage his company had done. Mr. Wilkerson acknowledged that his company's work could have caused the damage and that he would pay half of the Roto Rooter bill. The next day, I received a text from him saying he would not be paying me any money, and that it was not his responsibility.  If you are thinking about hiring this company, beware of the clause in the contract that absolves them of any responsibility for underground damage. A $3,000 job turned into almost $7,000 out of my pocket. Also, it was not honorable for them to go back on their promise to pay for half the damages. This company was careless, negligent, and dishonest.
