They've serviced my car to them for several years now and they have been good about diagnosing and correcting problems, have told me clearly when a problem is beyond them (my Prius was having problems with the big battery), have suggested good alternatives to the town's exorbitant Toyota dealer when they couldn't make the repairs. Bilo don't play that. While "honest mechanic" seems more an oxymoron these days, Bilo is as honest as they come. He doesn't flip out if you want to bring your own parts (bringing the wrong part just means delaying your repair). He also will show you where things are broken, where service technicians have screwed up (thanks Jiffy Lube!) and keeps your budget in mind when coming up with repairs. Plus, he has the skill and knowledge to make repairs, not just swap parts. If you're looking to be charged 200% markup on parts on top of $85/hr labor by all means go to one of the franchises in town. If you want a fair price and a competent, honest mechanic Bilo is your man.

I had an engine and a transmission error code. A mechanic at the shop also checked fluids and found burned metal in them, not a great sign. They told me in the gentlest way possible it was time to get a new car. I asked what I owed them and they refused to charge me. Coming from NYC, I was taken aback to be treated with such kindness and good faith by strangers running a business. We talked more about cars and about some new cars to avoid that they are seeing a lot of problems with. Since this visit, I bought new car. In general, I don't use mechanics. But my wife's brakes started squealing, and she wanted us to find a good mechanic we could trust for the big jobs (Translation: she doesn't want to die if I mess up her brakes.) I called a couple of friends, and they both recommended Jeff at Greg's. I can't say enough good things about Jeff and his crew. I called and asked about replacing all 4 rotors and pads. Got quoted a very good price, and scheduled in for a Tuesday. Jeff called a few hours into Tuesday, and let me know that the front brakes were fine and didn't need replacing. I'd forgotten that we just replaced them not that long ago, and they didn't have many miles on them, just rust. The rears needed replacing, but the front just needed the rust ground off to stop the squealing. Now, a lesser mechanic would have seen the brakes were fine, and replaced them anyway; we'd have gotten what we asked for. Jeff doesn't roll that way. He fixed the actual problem, and it cost half of what we were quoted. Another note, the rotors he sold us are quality rotors. Ceramic coated so they won't rust after 5 minutes in the rain (unlike the old rotors our last mechanic installed!) All in all, Jeff and his crew are top notch. Honest, reliable, with a great reputation. 5 Solid Stars!!!

Then I went to Exotics right across from Z Autos, and they wanted $500-$550. And then there was Mike at Z Auto, who replaced my rear rotors and brake pads for ONLY $298. And the best part is that he did it in a couple hours. With that said, I highly recommend Z Auto for anyone having any issues on their cars.
