In keeping with my string of world's largest, Duplin Winery, in Rose Hill, NC, is the World's…read morebest-selling muscadine winery and the oldest winery in North Carolina. It opened back in 1972 and has been family-owned for three generations. Their wines are typically made from muscadine and scuppernong grapes. I learned that they also carry Mothervine Wine, which comes from clippings of the 400-year-old vine in Roanoke Island. Duplin Winery was allowed to take clippings from this Mother Vine and established a new vineyard. Legend suggests the vine may have been planted by Croatan Native Americans or settlers of the Lost Colony. Scuppernong grapes are a white muscadine variety that is North Carolina's official state fruit. Duplin Winery is also known as the winery of the South. There is a large parking lot. The building's exterior looks rustic. Inside, you will be greeted when you enter the door. Remember to get your basket or cart, as it is difficult to carry items without one. The first room has the wines and food products. They had a section for sampling the dips, salsas, crackers and other items. The other room has the wine tasting and gift shop. Then, beyond that, there is the Bistro. I was delighted to find non-alcoholic wines. They offered Muscadine cider, Scuppernong (white), and Muscadine (red). I left with all three. While I didn't get to try the specific Mothervine wine, I did get to try the Alcohol-Free Scuppernong at the Bistro, which features the same historic state fruit variety that made the Mother Vine famous! The gift shop has items to find those perfect gifts or just something for yourself. From the rustic charm to the friendly greeting at the door, Duplin Winery truly lives up to its reputation as the 'Winery of the South.' It's a great stop for the history, the gifts, and the delicious sweet treats.

I'm headed back to NC on orders, and this place is one of the reasons I am looking forward to…read morereturning. I discovered this gem last time I was stationed here and it was consistently the best place I went to for wine. They always made my daughter and dog feel very welcome whenever I brought them along. And the wine is unlike anything I've tasted. I've toured wineries in Temecula and this is the only place where I'll easily come home with a case of wine. The gift baskets are amazing too. I watched it grow and expand over the course of three years and the quality of service remained amazing. I am happy to see the winery survived COVID-19 where many small businesses went under. Very excited to come back to this place and its employees!

My Mr and his mom wanted to take me to a winery. They mentioned Huffman's and couldn't wait to go…read morebecause of the great reviews on yelp and google. Went on a Wednesday afternoon and it wasn't packed but they had quite a few customers. We called beforehand on the facility being dog friendly and they are! Bonus!! We were greeted right away. The owner was knowledgeable, down to earth and took the time to explain each wine tasting. For $10.00 you get to choose 10 wine tastings from the dry, semi sweet, and sweet section. We chose mainly drys and 3 from the semi sweets. Our tasting: -Porch Time (Viognier) -Sunny Days (Seyval Blanc) -Southern Exposure (Riesling) -Sauvignon Blanc -Fire Side Red (Blend of Norton, Syrah, Malbec) -Legacy Red (Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot) -Legacy Blend (Cabernet Franc & Merlot) -Carolina Sunshine (Green Apple Riesling) -Summer Nights (Blueberry Pinot Noir Blend) -Miley Creek Red (Best served room temperature for semi sweets- wine using cocoa nibs) My fave was the Legacy Red and the Sunny Days that I had to bring home two bottles. Plus I purchases the Summer Nights for our neighbors as a gift. All at a reasonable price! If you are not a wine drinker and just tagging along, they do serve beer (not on tap). Mainly domestic bottles. They also sell local cheese and crackers. Connected to the winery is a gift shop full of cute decor, T-shirts and gift ideas. I really loved the patio and the screen porched area where you can enjoy your wines. Landscape is gorgeous that you can see the vineyards from where you are sitting. The inside is spacious and has a laid back feel. On weekends they have events with food trucks so check the schedule. 10% on half case of wines 20% for a case They do ship to most states. What a wonderful experience! I highly recommend you check out this place. You will not be disappointed. Hopefully we will back again next year when we visit My Mr's parents again.

A tasting of everything the distillery sells was the start of the early afternoon after arrival. Tina is the consummate ambassador of the brand, professional, knowledgeable and most importantly, personable. One of the best liquor tastings we've experienced. We did end up buying a variety of several liquor. The prices are right. 2. The Cottages- Rose Garden 123, for us, now sets the example of what a clean and perfectly designed lodging should be. 3. Dinner- Again, nothing less than satisfying at the Cork room Restaurant. Nice dinner menu selection, very well made cocktails alongside attentive and personable staff. We both had beef entrees, the beef was better tasting than beef we've had in a long time, just tasted clean Also, perfectly seasoned and cooked to the doneness as ordered. Overall, this is a well run business with excellent staff. Easy choice to come back again.

Toni, our server, was very nice and understanding when we told her the fish from the fish and chips order just wasn't very good. According to the eater, it was "too fishy tasting," and the texture was different than typical deep fried fish. My son-in-law had the steak tips, and he cleaned his plate, so I'm guessing they were good. I had the Po' Boy sandwich, the third one I've had in the last few weeks!! Mine was good, but instead of a hoagie-like bun, it came on hamburger buns, so not quite as big as I thought it'd be. Still pretty good, though! The sweet tater fries were excellent!
