My son is struggling with benzo addiction. He spent about 3 months at Banyon, Cathedral City. I have no words for how well they treated him. The entire staff there was amazing. He loved the food. They took my calls several times a day or always called me back.Everyone there went above and call of duty for my son. His therapist, Katrina, was/is an absolute godsend for him and our family. She is kind, patient, responsive and is highly educated in her field. My son struggles with bonding with people and he bonded with her !! They got his medications all sorted out. When he came Banyan, he was a different person. Sober, head on straight and ready to face the world. I highly recommend . If you or a loved one go there, definitely seek out Katrina. I had 2 different plumbing issues in 2 different rooms we Here I woke up to poop, literally came up thru the shower drains and I woke up to stepping into on the floor of my room... they moved me rooms and it happened AGAIN in the next room over. The groups were a joke, never started on time... you get your phone for the 10 mins 3 days of the week and they had barely any snacks or anything and it's like 100degrees out there .. worst idea ever... I came to Banyan's Treatment Facility in May and left mid June. I have never had experience with rehab before, but my expectations were most definitely exceeded. From BHT, facilitators, Chris my therapist, and Ebony my Case Manager, all of the staff truly helped me by educating me with the proper tools and mindset for my recovery. For anyone who is hesitant on what facility is the right choice, Banyan's program offers a good curriculum designed to enrich your life with the right resources. They provided us the opportunities to participate in outdoor hikes, spiritual services, equine therapy, and even a plethora of meetings including AA and NA. The only reason I gave Banyan a 4/5 is because of the heat. June is a hot month. read more

I checked in November 13, 2024. The staff is amazing. Took really good care of me. My counselor Chris is amazing. My caseworker Alex was amazing as well. The staff there is great you respect them they respect you. I know it's hard when we're attics. The pictures are not what it is. There's no couches you sit on hard ass seats. The place could use to make over I was in room 212 in the curtains was horrible. I've have sent member family. This is a really great place for recovery and you only get 20 minutes four days a week on your phones to make personal calls family member and call and check on you and I'm still sober. Would give 0 stars if I could. This place is actually sickening, and I get upset just thinking about it. Banyan put me in an even worse position and situation than before I came in to start my "recovery journey" it's so sad that people like myself go to this place to receive help and all that happens is we get treated like children and are un cared for until our insurance runs out. They took my phone and my rights for 30 days straight. Staff DO NOT are not helpful. They treated me like an animal and a problem. If we ask for something as little as good clean water because the water machine was broken and had cockroaches laying eggs in it they would treat It as if it was a huge ask and some even made the excuse that it wasn't something they where obliged to help with. Eventually after many clients had been advocating for clean water we eventually got higher management to give us water bottles. This took atleast 3 days. There is so many health concerns and biohazards in this place. And when anyone asks to leave before there insurance runs out, u need to wait 24 hours to receive your belongings INCLUDING YOUR PHONE TO MAKE A SAFE ARRANGEMENT TO GET PICKED UP OR GO TO ANOTHER FACILITY. As a young woman they were more than happy to leave me homeless in a dangerous area I with out my belongings!!!!! How they got me to end up staying was they informed me that the about homeless men in the area, and all the graphic things they would do to me. I ended up going to Banyans php because they were also not very helpful with after care and basically gave me no other option but to go to php. I lived at this php/sober living house for about a week, was treated like shit, so I then relapsed took a greyhound back to la where I'm from, with no support no plan and no stable living situation. A lot of traumatizing stuff happened after banyan and that could have been prevented if I was in better care. Luckily I'm currently in a new detox/residential and I am blown away by the difference in how I'm treated. The place I'm currently at is amazing and actually working with me to come up with a plan that will work for me, not a plan that is most financially beneficial to them. Banyan did a lot more harm than good and I would NEVER recommend any one to go there. I hope they get shut down!!!! read more

My husband is there right now. It is impossible to get someone on the phone. They with hold medicine. They do not help clients get their meds. He has major mental health issues they will not address. They allow for patients to have sex and full around, and treat it like it's high school. There is no structure. He begs to see a therapist and a dr. They say he has to make his own appointments. They didn't allow him to call his insurance. And they say every week we think we have to let you go since your insurance won't cover. read more

1st timers do your research and know what you are getting into if you have the choice. majority of the staff are fine, they work with what they got. I give it a 2 star based on my own experiances and dissatisfactions. To sum it up the best, in my opinion, "One shoe does not fit all". Better screening during admissions would help but initial couneling before one would enter this facility would be a move in the right direction, most especially, 1st timers who do not know how the rehab system works at all levels. I've never dealt with a more difficult situation, then dealing with the Banyan Canyon facility. I had to jump through so many hoops and hurdles while lowering my medication dose to get into a rehab to get off of that same medication doesn't make any sense it's kind of contradictory, so I'm literally getting off my medication on the street from what I have assessed very low quality of care, they are very quick to judge and I'm sitting out here asking them for help. Makes me kind of leery about the whole situation so we'll see what they do today..... read more

This is the most uneducated, sadistic group of health care "professionals" I have ever come across. They have you sign an intake document when you're clearly under the influence and broken. They confiscate your phone, clothes, and credit cards. They refuse to let you leave until your insurance runs out, or, in my case threaten legal action. They are perfectly happy to let you sleep on the streets for 24 hours before you can get your belongings. This place should be shut down! read more

This place needs to be shut down! They said my son wandered out by staff, leaving an area unlocked due to an emergency involving another client who needed to go to hospital by ambulance, another victim of this place! They notified me by ONE missed call. I called today, and he's been lost for over 24 hours at 115 degrees !!! No phone call from them. I had to call to find out he was missing in the flipping desert! I called the police, and they are investigating this. Please do not come to this place. One hundred fifteen degrees, and they let my son wander in the heat! I'm calling my health ins. and filing a grievance. Law enforcement is already involved. I had to file a missing person's report because they didn't care. Please do not send your loved ones to this place!!!! read more

My sister and aunt brought my mom to this facility last night around 9:00pm. They seemed to take her in and everything seemed great. This morning we woke up to find out they said she was too sick and took her back to the hospital she came from. Not informing her loved ones and she then sat in that hospital alone for many hours in a wheelchair until my aunt and sister could get to her again. Absolutely disgusted with that kind of treatment. Thank God my mother really wants to get healthy and contacted us to come help her. But I can only imagine if someone else was really struggling that getting kicked out late at night and being taken back to the hospital would not be beneficial for recovery and could potentially relapse within a night. Mainly my heart just hurts for the fact this exact thing has probably happened to other people and how hard it must have been for their loved ones. Was already worried about this place by coming and reading the reviews but now know for certain a gut feeling is always right. Highly would not recommend this place. read more

I recommend this facility to anyone who is in addiction and who wants help! I learned a lot here in Banyan. Coping skills were what I needed to live sober. I had been in addiction for many many years . Here at Banyan Palm Springs I learned many coping skills I could use in everyday life. With the help of therapist, case managers, nurses, BHT's, faith in Recovery , biofeedback, and lots more it was a great experience and I am grateful for all of the support and skills that I use today . It won't happen overnight it is day by day struggle but as long as you focus on all the coping skills you learned you can get by and live a happy and sober life like I am doing now. They stole my medicines. I came in with medications and I refused to admit because the facility was chaotic and dirty. The pillow and sheets had blood stains. It was not the place for me. No harm no foul but they somehow misplaced my narcotic meds. This means that staff is stealing narcotics. They explicitly stated that they had not destroyed my meds but that they had no idea where they went. This is not a safe place. read more

If I could give this place a negative zero I would! I do not even think they deserve that! Banyan makes you feel like you are in prison. They held me again my own will for 13 hours. I had to plead with them to let me make a phone call to my partner because I was not feeling too well. The employees at Banyan are unhappy and understaff and they take out there frustration on the clients. If you have great insurance they will try and make you stay for 30 days. They are more interested in the insurance money then they are about your well being. Also, it doesn't matter what level of detox you are in, they will throw you in with those coming off of heroin, meth, hard stuff, etc... There program is repetitive so after the 1st week you get the information needed for recovery. Banyan takes your rights away as a patient, client, but most importantly as a human. Last complaint, I was in need of medical attention as I was having chest pain and other symptoms. Felicia who works at night refused to call 911 for me. She refused to get me any help because she would prefer I stay in order for her to get paid. Look for help somewhere else! read more

Banyon put my son out on the streets of Palm Spring (knowing he wasn't from there) in June because he kicked a wall during a moment of frustration. His therapist had gone on vacation and there were no therapeutic staff on site to help him work through his issue. Then they reached out to other treatment centers in the area and had him black listed. read more

I'm currently out here on the west coast far from home, I'm now in my third PHP program after flying out here due to the first two being rather ill suited fits for me. Banyon was the first center I attended. 12 South was the second. I left an informative Yelp review on them yesterday too, if you are interested. I believe I have a moral obligation to openly express my views on these institutions so that people who are seeking help are able to get the best care they possibly can, and can better stand to cut all of the ineffective nonsense and overwhelming frustration out of their personal equation. Here is an excerpt from my journal entry which summarized my views on Banyon. I wrote it back on 05/20/21: "Banyon is a greed-pig driven juggernaut that is business first, humanitarianism a distant second. Razzle-dazzle, smoke and mirrors, flash-in-the-pan, all talk no follow through, all image no substance, all sizzle no steak. A lazy profit fueled gravy-train that stands to do many, many an addict a grave injustice. They've figured out how to maximize revenue by exploiting perpetual human suffering in the form of drug addiction. Appalling and utterly unconscionable in nature." read more
