I have delayed writing this review in hopes that my initial frustration would subside and allow for a more measured reflection. On August 8th, I observed that my 88-year-old grandfather was ill. Recognizing the seriousness of his condition, I arranged for him to visit the urgent care in Miami Lakes, despite the inconvenience of having to return home to Kendall first to drop off my infant daughter as I did not want to risk exposing her to the urgent care environment. Upon arriving at the urgent care, I checked with the staff to ensure they were still accepting patients and was assured that they would see him if he arrived by 9 p.m. I left my grandfather in the car to confirm this and, upon receiving confirmation, brought him inside. The check-in staff were courteous and professional, but the experience took a disheartening turn when APRN Virginia Sardinas attended to my grandfather. When she initially walked in, I took a moment to greet her and thank her for taking the time to see us. Ms. Sardinas's response to my arrival was dismissive and unkind, as she remarked, "We've all had a really long day and you coming in at this time just made it longer for everyone who is tired, but okay." This comment was made publicly in front of other staff, adding unnecessary humiliation to an already distressing situation. I said that I was sorry, which I do not believe I even had to do, and explained that I live in Kendall and had to drive back to Miami Lakes after work, to take him in. She just looked at me and stated, "You drove here from Kendall?" I said yes and she just looked at me as if I was crazy or lying. Again, I did not have to explain myself to her, but I did out of courtesy. A courtesy she did not reciprocate. Ms. Sardinas stated that she could only conduct a urine test as that was all the urgent care had available. She conducted only a urine test, which was inconclusive. She suggested I take my grandfather to the ER if I felt necessary. Upon leaving, it was evident that the staff were preparing to close, suggesting an eagerness to end their shift rather than provide care. Lights were off, bags were in hands. There were two nurses who were really kind and nice and took their time with us, never made me feel rushed. Consequently, I transported my grandfather to the Baptist ER in Doral. I arrived in Doral 15 minutes after leaving Miami Lakes. He was taken in as soon as we arrived, and when his temperature was taken it was 100.7 and promptly diagnosed with strep throat and the flu--conditions that could have been identified at the urgent care. I want to emphasize that when I arrived at the urgent care in Miami Lakes, I asked if they were still accepting patients. I never insisted, demanded, or begged. Having previously visited this urgent care on numerous occasions, including with my own children, I find this experience deeply disappointing. The lack of empathy and the failure to provide appropriate care have led me to decide never to return to this facility. My intent is to highlight this experience to prevent others from facing similar issues. read more

My husband broke out with rush. He was covered with red bumps all over his body. It was already after 8 pm and not many places were open. I found this place through Yelp search! Thanks, Yelp! We drove there and staff there were nice, friendly, and professional. Also, they have a vending machine to get your medicine, so you don't have to wait until tomorrow to get meds. I'm writing an updated review, figuring it could be useful to someone during this time of the pandemic. Yesterday I ended up at urgent care as telehealth was a total bust. I've been feeling a bit under the weather for the last few days, and well, after having my medicine run out and still not feeling my best, I looked into my options. Trying to see my PCP right now is a mission, so I opted to try telehealth, and well, I paid $20 to essentially be sent here. Needless to say, I was not happy. Fortunately, Baptist, AS ALWAYS, came through. I popped in right after work and there was essentially no line. Maybe a couple of people ahead of me? When I went to sign in, they looked me up in their system and gave me a paper with an e-mail address. I could e-mail my IDs there (driver's license and insurance card) just in case, seeing as I was in the system. I was then directed as to where to sit. There are signs all over the floor and on the chairs, encouraging social distancing. Not to mention that staff is wearing masks and gloves, and upon arrival, you see a sign telling you to do the same with masks. Also, something worthy of noting: go alone if you're being treated if you can. Should someone accompany you, they'll be asked to wait outside. Anyway, when all this was said and done, I saw the nurse and had my tests ran. Within the hour or so, I got my results and my medicine. They have an InstyMeds machine, so I was able to get my medicine there. The police officer on call even helped me disinfect it prior use. Oh, and to top it off, in order to pay, I was told by staff I would receive a phone call. Turns out I got it as I was waiting for my medicine to dispense from the machine, and well, that was that. As I noted when I checked in this past weekend, this is the only 5 star restaurant where you don't want to be a repeat customer! This particular Baptist UC has become my go to doctor from a cut with rebar at a jobsite to most recently the flu. I didn't get the flu shot tHis season. The decision was driven by my severe dislike of needles not politics. (Ironically enough, i did get it bad enough that at this point I did need a needle :/) So when the Flu lingered a lot longer than it should, I went to the Pineapple in Miami Lakes. Random fact: like most significant buildings in Miami Lakes, they have a cow statue outside. Although I did have to wait a little (apparently this flu season has been a doozy) in their waiting room, once I was taken inside the whole team got to work. The doctor (well an ARNP instead of an MD because I must not have been the worst one there) actually sat next to the stretcher to hear my case, take my vitals and order lab work and relevant xrays. All were done in quick succession and the waiting time for results was reasonable. As an engineer, I appreciated the fact that the X-ray tech was willing to talk tech about the equipment with me. I didn't look when they were taking blood though. They sent me on my way with some of the prescriptions, since they have an Instymed machine (basically an ATM for medicines) where the price for the inhaler was much better than at any pharmacy. The cough medicine i did have to go to a pharmacy. The waiting room could be a little more comfortable, though despite the stiff-backed chairs I was still able to knock out while waiting. It's also appreciated that they let you split your insurance copayment and don't have to shell out the entire amount. read more

The nurse Ana was extremely kind to my elderly grandparents. Many others were also very kind and compassionate toward them when treating wounds. It costs nothing to be kind and compassionate, but it is very rare nowadays to find. My grandparents felt better when they left even before the medicine kicking in because of how great all of the staff members were. There was language barrier between them and the doctor, and instead of humiliating them, they found someone that can help translate. Lastly, when my grandparents went to leave, it was raining and a worker named Yosvel patiently waited for my arrival to help my grandparents to the car and make sure they didn't get wet. I highly recommend this urgent care to everyone. Not only do they have experienced doctors, nurses, and workers, but the attention is absolutely amazing. read more

Although I have been at this location before and it's always been a great customer service. Today was completely the opposite. -Nobody answers the phone to find out their schedule. - online shows 11am - 11pm - I arrive at 11:15am with a horrible back pain that I can barely walk. Alone of course because I know not companions are allowed. This has to be by far the worst place to go to when you are sick and feeling bad. They treated us like animals not even animals deserve to be treated with such a bad actitud. The security guard has no manners or education. Sick people go to the urgent care. We are not criminals. They need to chance the staff. No wonder they had such a bad reputation. read more

I attempted to walk in this Baptist for patient care but was stopped and turned away by the security guard. Saying they were too busy and the staff was backed up. Then she said that the registered patients were outside, I explained to here that I wasn't registered. She restated I had to leave, I wasn't even triaged. I'm having trouble breathing. This is a violation of patient care access. I told her I hope this does not happen to you where you are neglected medical attention. She laughed and said I'm vaccinated. I will be filing an official complaint with the state. I was neglected healthcare. Urgent care is the middle man between primary and emergency to help coordinate your care and stabilize patients as best they can to avoid hospitalizations. If you care about the health of you and loved ones, avoid this place at all cost. I was able to avoid hospitalization by visiting MD now. read more

I usually come to this urgent care and like anywhere, doctors or ARNPs are cold. No bedside manner, etc. I would not expect it from the clerical staff. Especially the front desk personnel. She talks to you without looking at you, gives an attitude and her tone indicates that you're stupid. read more

I had originally reviewed this place as good but upon taking the medication prescribed by the Asian doctor, I realized I was feeling worse. Once I researched the Medication I was taking I realized all the horrible symptoms that I was feeling were side effects from the medications that were prescribed to me. Mind you these were for a common cold. I bet if I would have found out about these side effects sooner I probably would have been a lot better after almost 5 days. Clean, quick and so pleasant. My boyfriend busted his brow during a rugby game, it didn't seem like the butterflies would really help it heal properly so we went in for stitches. On April 22, 2018 my son visited this Urgent Care, now he has to pay $843.03 in total due to our high deductible, nobody told him that the Penicillin Injection costs $790.00 to bill the insurance and $402.90 is his responsibility, this is unbelievable and unacceptable charge, the total bill for the insurance was $1,653.00 just for checking his throat, the check up with the doctor took about 10 minutes total. He had great care by the doctor and nurse at this facility. Very caring and personal, but we will never go back. I pay a lot for my health insurance and I have no problem paying my copays. What I refuse to pay is the extra $700 - $800 bill that comes for a facility fee and Dr.s fee. In the front this facility provides a "Total Different Charges" for "No Insurance". read more

I want to give this place a whooping 10 stars. I woke up this morning with severe congestion, the unbearable kind. I first went to the Doctor's Express clinic, but was extremely disappointed as to how the doctor did his examination, all of 10 minutes. So, I left and headed down to the Baptist Urgent Care right down Pines. From the moment the nurse took me to the exam room to how thorough Dr Vazquez was, I was just so impressed and every so often she would be coming by to bring me a can of Gatorade. My five year old had a bad cough for over a week. Her doctor was unable to see her so I decided to take her to Baptist Medical Plaza. When I arrived I was pleased that the facility seemed clean and the staff was friendly. I asked the receptionist about how long it would take to see a doctor and she informed me that it would be 45 minutes. Needless to say, 45 minutes turned into almost 3 hours. When we arrived in the back room, there was a drop of blood on the floor. The wait was way to LONG for a 5 year old patient. A nurse did go out of his way to bring my daughter cookies and water (which I must say, I appreciated). The check up with the doctor took about 5 minutes total. He seemed to be very knowledgeable. I can't give this facility a high rating due to the fact that there was blood on the floor and the front desk was so far off on time. I didn't have to wait very long, which is good...but overall, was dissatisfied. The doctor barely spoke to me (less than 2 min), repeated everything the nurse practioner said and tried to rush me off to the emergency room. I would never have gone to this center if I knew that they didn't do bloodwork, ultrasounds, or other kinds of imaging that you would expect from Baptist. Also, I found out after it was over that the doctor is independent and bills separately.
