Calm hospital with amazing employees and tons of parking spaces! They even have a cancer institute building now and a hotel on site!

Wow, what an absolute mess of a hospital. I am unfortunate and that I've spent a lot of time in hospitals between me and my other family members, this used to be the hospital we would always go to but based off our last visit this hospital is an absolute train wreck. They insisted my father had diabetes and decided they wanted to treat him for that while he was trying to recover from the surgery he had. We completely refused the insulin they continually tried to push on us they gave us diabetes meals trays which would be fine except this hospitals idea of a diabetes tray for food is a diet soda, a diet Jell-O, pudding unsweetened applesauce, yellow rice and chicken. FOUR sweet items and not one vegetable are you fucking kidding me. When we went to visit him after surgery there were sheets piled up under his ass and his gown laid on top of him and he was wrapped around his IV not one nurse did something about it and we had to do it ourselves. We had to go back to the hospital after he was released because they decided they weren't going to make sure his urine flow is constant so his bladder was backed up not one nurse measured bladder outtake even though we asked them if they needed to. The bedside manner is nonexistent and the nurses don't care if you get your pain pills there was several times my father was two hours late and crying in pain and not a nurse in sight. Every nurse that works on the floor should be absolutely ashamed of themselves and should be forced to go back to nursing school because clearly they didn't learn a goddamn thing. Sorry excuse for a hospital, sorry excuse for nurses. I could go on but I think you get the gist. read more

As I sit in the hall while our family gathers waiting for the priest who will deliver last rites, I am appalled by the blatant disregard of caregivers and staff working the floor. We are in the Hope building ICU. Loud conversations, laughter and bellowing voices! People are dying, and are chronically ill. HEALTHCARE AT ITS WORST! Patient care AT ITS WORST. Blame on Covid is what I hear, but shame on the facility for indifference. The patient's insurance pays the same amount for good or bad care and my impression is that Baptist Hospital has bad care down to a science. SHAME ON THEM! read more

I came to the er with the worst food poisoning quite literally feeling like i was about to pass about and they kept trying to gaslight me telling me i was fine and needed to wait. After 5 minutes of waiting i obviously started throwing up because i came in for an EMERGENCY. and after i started screaming in the lobby insisting to be attended after i threw up, is when they decided to bring out a wheelchair to take me in. You would think they would take me straight to a room and get me started, no. they took me to a room just to get all my insurance information and that took 20 minutes, AFTER is when they decided to transfer me and give me a doctor. moral of the story you can be dying and they still wont attend you in er. I've given birth to two children here. One experience was completely horrendous and the other was better (obviously I'm speaking of how I was treated, and taken care of by staff and doctors). At one point I was literally ridiculed by one of the nurses because I wasn't sure if I was in labor for my first child, little did they know I was already dilated. Either way, my huge grievance is more with the billing dept. What complete idiots they have working there. I've never received a correct bill from them. I've always had to have claim after claim with my insurance just to get it right. And they always send you to collections before they even think about trying to rectify the situation. Baptist please read this AND FIX THIS PROBLEM. Start with the staff in the call center who don't even know how to communicate properly when you call. They belittle you and could care less that you are being billed thousands of dollars incorrectly. This is a serious issue and needs to resolved. read more

ELDERLY CARE NEGLECT.- Baptist Main Miami deserves ZERO stars. Emergency room nurses were FANTASTIC when we went with my mom. The nurses on the 4th floor ( tower building ) were JUST OK. No extra care or effort given by them. The nurses on the 2 floor---HORRIBLE and should all be changed. I found that they don't take care of elderly patients. If you have an elderly person - GO TO SOUTH MIAMI hospital instead. The elderly at Baptist are NOT treated with dignity or care ! Their patient experience department pretends to care , but no such thing happened. I was told that an "investigation" would be happening due to my concerns. But nothing was done. read more

We walked into the emergency entrance where Cory greeted us. He asked my husband to walk in to get registered while he gets my ID. Very professionally he asked me to wait so he can help a gentleman in need of a wheelchair. I loved that he took initiative to prioritize in such a smooth & professional way. Once in the ER, Gaby welcomed my husband & she wasn't even finish getting him ready before nurse Meliza came in & took over. Dr. Itzkowitz walked in right behind her. I have never seen a more efficient & professional team. After running some tests, my husband was sent home feeling much better & with new medications. It's been a week now & he is perfectly well thanks to this great team. Way to go Baptist!! read more

If I could, I would put negative stars. I'd go to a vet before I'd go to Baptist Main on Kendall Drive! Saturday March 28th my boyfriend noticed (when he woke up) that I seemed confused, was slurring my words, talking strangely, and appeared off balance ( previous stroke in my history). Also had radiating chest pain and a blood producing cough. I have tons of health issues so he was pretty concerned. We went to Baptist Urgent Care at 137th and 152nd street. EVERYONE at this facility was WONDERFUL! I was triaged and sped into a treatment area very quickly, and saw the doctor within 10 minutes. EKG, blood work, IV in place, tested for flu/ COVID19, and evaluated amazingly fast. The doctor decided I needed to go to Baptist Main on Kendall Drive. We chose the expediency of driving there. I was still a little out of it, so my boyfriend was providing most of the info. The caregivers at Urgent care kept him away from everyone, but close enough to answer questions. When we got to the main hospital, things just went downhill. We pulled up to the door and a nurse told him to just drop me off and they would call him. We tried to convey the reasoning for him to remain but were ignored. An orderly came with a wheelchair and asked why I was there. I tried to explain, but he said " Really? Cause you LOOK fine!". Registered at the desk and was put in a room. Guy from registration came in to get my info and for me to sign consent. I was wearing a mask the whole day up to this time. NOT ONE PERSON at this point had one on. The registration gentleman brought over my papers to sign, and began flipping the various forms for me BY LICKING HIS FINGER! No wonder there's have been confirmed cases at this hospital! Then, Doctor Micheal Mai came in, he was masked and gloved. But as soon as he spoke, I knew nothing was going to get better. I called my boy friend as planned, so he could voice his observations. We were both talked over, the symptoms down played, and he too said "You don't look sick now, though." We were both adamant that this wasn't something to brush off with all of my health problems. In an exasperated tone, we were told " to make US happy he'd run every test under the sun" . When he left my room, he began talking in an extremely loud voice and said ( there were other patients in the rooms on that hall) '" We'll run everything, to rule out the nothing that's wrong with her". At that point I called the nurse (Yiska) and asked for AMA papers. The nurse also said I looked and sounded fine. Three doctors! How lucky was I? I signed the papers and left. To add insult to injury, security and the nurses at the door refused to give me the Patient Advocate number without explaining to them why I felt I needed it. I've never been treated like a hypochondriac, especially since they knew NOTHING about my medical history. Total disregard for me as a patient with those inherent rights you hear about totally ignored, as well as contempt when a snap decision on their part was contested. I will assure you, not only will I and my loved ones never patronize this hospital, but I will be posting on social media and by word of mouth how horribly I was treated. NEVER AGAIN. read more

My dad was dying and they would not allow his grandchildren to say goodbye because they are minors. The amount of stress and heartache caused to our family cannot be put into words. They are like robots. They simply do not care. In addition, the doctors and nurses are not very knowledgeable and are not consistent. The lack of knowledge and professionalism is beyond comprehension. Stay away from this absolute disgrace of a hospital. read more

This is a review of our experience having our first child being born here. We decided to have our child born here due to the great reviews and responses from our fiends. Plus, thats where our OB/GYN doctor delivers. Well, here comes December 2006 and we are going into labor! She was scheduled to come mid January, so our doctor high tales it to Jamaica for vacation. We were really looking forward to him being there, after seeing him for months; so a stand in resident doctor stepped in. Everything was going it's course, we had a room, wife's sister in town for support, and I was there to keep everything steady (yeah right). The wife was in labor for a number of hours and no results. Then the new doctor just comes in the room and tells the nurse to start the C-Section procedure. We were like, Whoa!!! At least come talk to us and explain the decision. At least let us be a part of this decision, gain our confidence. I pulled the doctor out the door and had those words with him. He was a little embarrassed, but I was a little shocked of his rash decision and demeanor. He took it with stride and adjusted his himself. The C-Section was performed and we were made to feel extremely comfortable for the rest of our stay. Thank you! read more

Went to the emergency room with my mother in law because she was having hip pain and difficulty walking. Doctor saw her and told her that he was going to order a few tests and give her pain medication and a muscle relaxer. They sent her for an ultrasound and then a CT scan of her hip. 6 hours later still no medication had to hunt down a nurse or tech to find out anything was placed in a room with chairs lined up like a factory. Worst experience ever at Baptist! When the doctor came to give her the results and we told him she never got any pain medication so he ordered it for her they gave it and sent her home to follow up with her doctor. Oh and she is diabetic they never checked her sugar until I told a nurse "hey she isn't feeling well and feels like her sugar is low can you please check it?" Of course when they did it was low and they rushed to give her juice and something to eat. Horrible experience and waste of 12 hours. No help, no answers, and she can barely walk without assistance. read more

Absolutely horrific - they have trainees taking out your blood and he left the elastic on my husbands arm and left. Literally the worst hospital system I have dealt with. My father was a doctor so I grew up in the hospital environment and I am also in healthcare. Every negative review you see here is 100% dead on. They ONLY care about the money and not the patients. You are nothing but dollar signs when you walk into their offices. Save yourself a heart attack AFTER the hospital visit when you get your bill. They rack up the charges of which none are explained before hand. The love doing unnecessary tests too. Again just racking up the bill. Billing customer service (if you can call it service) doesn't care either; better pay up or the ship you to the next collection agency. Will not work with you. I'm rating this hospital based on my experience as a child,my brother in laws stay, a good friends birth and one of my besties most recent stay. I love this hospital! I was unfortunately born with asthma which then led to pneumonia. I had to stay in the hospital for a whole week. I was pricked daily and given medication and treatments and being small it can be very scary,not quite understanding what was going on and not being able to breathe. It was the treatment I received here that made me want to be in the medical field. They treated me kindly and explained everything as best they could. My brother in law had to stay here for over 2 weeks. It was a scary time for our family but the nurses and doctors took great care of him and we'll never forget the great treatment he received. I had a friend give birth here (it was her first baby) and she was scared but with the help of the whole staff everything went smooth and her beautiful baby boy was born. Now my most recent visit was one of my besties and she had to stay for 2 nights. The nurses were a trip. They laughed and made sure she was comfortable. They explained all the treatments and during shift change they introduced the new nurses. The staff is just very nice and educated from real universities. Baptist has and always will be my family and most of my friends first choice. read more

I would give it 5 Starts because of the superb attention given to me during all my surgeries however MINUS 0 stars for the disgusting handling of the Covid-19 vaccination. I alone with many people , already had scheduled vaccination appointments , but they are systematically being cancelled to give way to wealthy donors. I personally know of 5 cases of people with no emergency to be vaccinated, who has received it because they are , or are related to wealthy donors. Shameful! Have anyone noticed that Baptist Health is expanding its wings all over South Florida but only on middle/ Wealthy class locations ? Have you seen any Baptist location in Opalocka, Liberty City or any black poor neighborhood? They praise themselves for being a non profit organization... HA HA HA... read more

Went yesterday to visit my friend at this impeccable hospital. I liked the fact that all the four different staff member we asked for help, they were all so nice with us and told us where to go. Security was good too. They have valet parking but I didn't see how much they charge. I parked free and walked to the lobby. They have a gift store. read more

This past Saturday my wife drove me to bethesda west hospital, after a fall. It was well worth the visit. I wanted to prevent infection and make sure nothing was broken. The entire staff could not have been more proactive. I was given a full battery of xrays. Theresa was at the front desk of the e.r. She is a very pleasant and knowledgeable first image. I then dealt with Kyle and Bryce in the room I was assigned. Great medical professionals and very personable. The xray techs were above board. Rachael was my assigned p.a., who ordered all tests and diagnosis. A seasoned medical professional and very approachable. Excellent interaction. Isabel took over when Rachael left for the night Of course, she was a good fit. Terrific! If you are ever in the need for an er visit, this is the place for medical professionals and caring people. Baptist hospital has a TERRIBLE emergency room. It should just be a regular intake area because it takes incredibly long to be attended. Having brought my 91 year old mother to the emergency room after she suffered a fall and banged her head quite violently (head trauma) while on blood thinner medication, it has taken over three and a half hours and staff have yet to perform a CT Scan. Meanwhile, if there is bleeding in the brain the blood thinner prevents healing and thus the bleeding would continue. When we finally arrived at the CT scan area of the hospital what I was told by one of the staff is that the staff in the area where she was held (a room) prior to being wheeled over to the CT scaning area were responsible for the delay. They told me that ... while at the same time informing me that it would take at least another half hour to forty five minutes before she could be sceen. This is not a real emergency room ... its more like just a regular intake area. Miami definately needs a real emergency room because if this is the best that Miami residents can expect we will need to be more cautious not to get into situations which require immediate medical attention. read more

Annoying process of booking/cancelling an appointment. They let you stay on hold for 50 minutes with a super lowd and irritating music that is on purpose to make you hang up. It is a complete torture!! And the mission is impossible to speak to a human being. When you do, they transfer you to another number and there is more waiting time..... When you are thinking you got it right, they tell you that you need to see a nurse before seeing the main doctor. So it will be a nurse taking care of you, NOT a doctor. What do you think of this amazing system?? They have great doctors but the system is the worst available in FL. read more

Use to be the best now is terrible. My father 90 1/2 yrs came in to ER at 10:30 am, was totally dehydrated among other issues. I asked the Nurse if he was dehydrated, he said no he wasn't. He tried to get urine thru a caterer and he had nothing in the bladder. Not only was he totally dehydrated but his kidneys were beginning to fail. They never tell us this. We are told he has beginning pneumonia and has to be admitted finally 8:30 PM. We find out the next day about the kidneys and also he has an infection in the blood. Has been here over a week with antibiotics, was discharged today to a Rehab to administer the intravenous antibiotic. Has been waiting for transportation to transfer him and it's now 9:38PM and still nobody knows why they haven't come. Horrible, Horrible, Horrible. read more

My father was in their care 15 years ago due to a brain bleed. Amazing care, amazing doctors and a miraculous rehab team! My mother just ended up there due to botched lab results from Quest. Turns out all was fine with blood work but they found cancer... they not only took care of her in the hospital but immediately assembled a team and got her into the best oncology facility in the country... The Miami Cancer Institute. The care is amazing, the doctors exceptional! I cannot believe anyone could ever have an unkind word to say. If there is a zero stars that would be applicable for this Baptist Hospital. Getting some one to talk to schedule an appointment is simply impossible. The prompts goes straight to voicemail. Even after 10days no one returns the call to schedule an appointment. In my country, there is a saying, which is . a person is sent to pharmacy to get medicines for a sick patient, but he/she returns with the medicines which were prescribed by the doctor to the monthly ceremony of the departed soul for 1 yr. It is that extremely slow response if there is one at all. Never experienced this before in NY/NJ area after living in this country for 30yrs. Feel like the response from the the presidents office is much more faster than getting a response from the doctors office at Baptist Hospital. Shame on them for making the patients going in circles and calling the doctors office every day and leaving a message. This is how they make money probably by making peoples blood pressure go up and visit a dr. if one can get it or end up in an emergency. read more

My nephew is dying at rhe UM Hospital pending a life saving operation and he may die because Baptist will not send the medical records and surgical reports they need to have this life saving operation. The hospital, the surgeon, his family have requested thie medical records since 9/2. They lie and say they sent it and they dont. Then they said the number was wrong and provided another. Then they said they got the request and it was being sent at that moment. it is now 9/6,, the last communication was at 1:30 pm. The surgical team at UM is on STANDBY, my son can now die at any moment, and I, the surgeon and UM have been calling the hospital Nurse Supervisor Gloris & Beverly at UM, have sent the request URGENTLY since 9 am today, and it is now 4pm. They say they sent it, but refuse to give us confirmation, and UM has still not gotten the records. Now, the Nurse Supervisor will not even answer our calls, and my son may die. He is 23 years old. Baptist did nothing! His death is immenent and the only chance he had to survive was taken by Baptist. They pretend they care, but they really don't. God Help Me!!! read more

This hospital looks like a ritzy resort when you approach it, I like to call it the Biltmore effect as Baptist Hospital has lush green landscape, spanish architectural elements, etc. and it does have an excellent reputation in Miami-Dade. I saw an eye specialist here and the place was well laid out (had an Au Bon Pain!), and lotsa parking. It too was featured in a reality show (I think on TLC) involving a doctor here but the name escapes me right now. read more

That said, I know that I'm in great hands, doctors, staff and the entire facility are fantastic. I work for Google and have traveled around the world...lived near Stanford Medical U in the valley. I just want to say that this hospital treated me amazing and SAVED MY LIFE! Due to a stupid plastic surgery I did I was bleeding to death and I was rushed to the ER and immediately the whole team started to treat me for analysis and a blood transfusion. I'm so grateful for everything the staff did for me. My nurses which were Miguel, Adriana, Rebecca and Sonia treated me so amazing with care and love to a total stranger. I'm so grateful to be alive and I will never forget this place. God bless everyone for what you do which really is saving lives!! I'm beyond grateful I have 2nd chance to be alive for my children! Watch this time line!! Daughter schedule for C section surgery at 12:30pm on Jan 13. Surgery on time,all goes well! 1:54 pm goes into recovery room and told she will be moved to her room around. 4:30pm 10:00 pm told there are NO ROOMS AVAILABLE!! Gets upgrade to suite. Who gets discharged from Baptist late at night you may ask? Ahhh, wait for it!! Daughter told as a result of difficult delivery (9lbs 3 oz) she will spend an extra day and be discharged on Monday by noon. Care is excellent, food is awful, service and being wakened at 5 AM for blood tests, never ending. Now for the discharge: No one shows up, my daughter is more than ready to go. She calls me in TEARS that she WANTS to go home. Waiting around for the doctor (Del Boca, MD) to show up! At 9:57 pm she finally gets discharged!! I plan on visiting Administration, discharge planning, patient payments, and calling Cigna health insurance and the Florida Hospital Board to lodge a complaint! By waiting the extra time, Baptist will pile on additional charges to the bill. Unfortunately for them, I am a former hospital administrator and have worked, as well, as a provider of health care, so I am quite familiar with correct procedures! Carpe Deum! Remember the hospital and doctors work for you! You are PAYING FOR SERVICES. Not the other way around! read more

My father came here with abdominal pains, it has been 4 hours and he still have not been seen by a doctor. He has asked several time to be giving something for the pain, but they cannot into the doctor see him. I am very disappointed, I hold Baptist high. But tonight I am very disappointed. Today I can say that they have a security guard in place, who will ask everyone for an ID. Your name must be in the list in order to be able to go inside and visit someone. If they don't find your name on the list, you have to call the patient's nurse and ask that nurse to call the security guard downstairs. I believe the entrance is much more secure now, due to the fact that you are given a sticker ID, and you are not just going in without notice. Depending on what day you go, you'll get a security guard in a good mood or one who isn't too helpful. Either way, just call the nurse to make sure your name is on the visitor's list! read more

My daughter was in the hospital in early July, 2019. We found the conditions in her room deplorable. There were some type of rodent droppings on the wash cloths, and area about the toilet. The shower chair was overturned in the tub hiding a dirty towel, The shower head could not be adjusted. Not to mention the dust/dirt caked on the vanity doors. I wrote to Brian Keeley and copied Patricia Rosello. I located their names on the organizational chart. I sent Mr. Keeley the original photos and copies to Ms. Rosello. To date, I have not received a response. These were just a few of our concerns. I have pictures to support my findings and two nurses were shown the problem areas. read more

It's self explanatory that hospitals are never fun, but we all have to go one time at least. The emergency room is always packed but the doctors, nurses etc.. don't rush you to leave they check in on you very often and make sure you're doing well. The room they gave us in the ER was very big I was surprised. You couldn't hear anything in or out. But when we went upstairs to the "real room" it was very small, which I didn't like. But that I expected. In my opinion everyone was so nice and I recommend this hospital. Not for fun though, lol read more
