Ready for my 3rd beer, when my daughter said she wanted to go home and party some more?!?! So I abided. Lovely's restaurant is also here on the premises. See pictures and other 5 star Yelp review. Ambiance - Cool space. Lots of semi private spaces that you can rent. See pictures or their website. Very kid and dog friendly! Unisex restrooms with outside sinks, thank you! NO parking! So bad on a Saturday evening that we almost did not come. Open 6 days a week - see picture or their website. Closed on Mondays. Service - Counters service. For both the bar and Lovely's. The outdoor bar has WAY faster service than the inside bar, just an FYI. Price - Affordable, especially for the Bay Area. Just left South Lake Tahoe and paid $9 - $10 + tip a beer there, but you know that because you are following. Owner Comment - Congrats to the building since 1919. When I went to close out my tab at the bar, the staff member who came over to help me gave me the dirtiest, impatient, pissed-off look that I've ever received in my life. It was as if I had kicked his dog and personally insulted him, his family and his entire generational line. When he gave me the payment device, he must have accidentally navigated away from correct screen because I didn't have any options to close out my tab (i.e. there was no tip screen, or place to request a receipt). I handed the device back to him and before I could point out the issue, he snatched the device away and rushed off. Knowing something was wrong, I waited at the counter for a few minutes for him to return. I raised the billing issue and his curt response was "you must have waited too long and the screen disappeared -- you're fine". I returned to my table knowing that something was off, but left with my friends since they needed to head out to a dinner reservation. After we had said our goodbyes to our friends outside the brewery, I shared the strange interaction I had closing out my tab with my wife, and as a precaution, she recommended that we head back to the brewery to try to close out the tab again, just in case something was overlooked. I thought this was a good idea, but this time, asked my wife to try to close out my tab, as I didn't want to experience the wrath of the impatient staff member again. To absolutely nobody's surprise, the tab was not closed out! This staff member is by far, the rudest individual that I've encountered in the service industry and should reconsider their employment if they hate customer interactions this much. Truly appalled by my experience and won't be coming back anytime soon. If management wants to investigate the issue further, the tab was opened at the outside bar at 8/14/26 4:23 PM, check #35, and was transacted on by three separate staff members: 1) first person who opened the tab was friendly 2) second person who added on the second round of drinks was the same rude individual who didn't correctly close out my tab later in the evening, and 3) the third staff member was the one who finally properly closed out the tab with my wife at 7:11 PM.

Avoid this place like the plague. Bad people, bad experience. I have been here twice and both times I had a terrible experience. The drinks are way over-priced and watered-down and customer service is just abysmal. The last time I was there the bartender didn't return my credit card after I closed out the tab. When I told him he didn't give it back to me he simply looked at me and said "Yes I did " and walked away. After finally getting his attention again he looked around for a couple of minutes and found it on the floor behind the bar. Then he tossed it to me on the counter and just walked away. Just plain out rude! The atmosphere is OK, but it is too expensive and the people are just way too rude. read more

O.K This is just what Oakland and the East Bay needed. A beautiful bar with vintage light fixtures and mirrors. Beautiful Blue walls with gold accents. A solid dark wood bar with comfortable bar stools. If you don't want to sit at the bar choose a lovely table or a cozy nook in the corner. The drinks specials are unique and yummy. Plus they have really special beers on tap. The bar service is spot on. When my husband and I went in the bar on sunday night they gave us a special food platter with cheese, fruit and crackers to munch on as we enjoyed the awesome DJ'd music and tasty drinks. This Bar is not for people of Color! The Bartender was so rude as to snatch my drink out of my hand because we were not leaving fast enough. Not to mention, people were sitting at the Bar still drinking. We were in the lounge area and he wanted us out of the building for no reason other than he felt entitled to snatch my drink and walk away. I love this place! I know I can get a good drink here. I know that the bartenders know what they are talking about here (for the most part, there are two gentlemen I keep it kind of simple with, they seem to be still learning). I can come in and ask for an Old Pal and without blinking an eye, the lady behind the bar knows what I am talking about. There shouldn't be a tree left in Oakland with all the little lumberjacks running around in flannel suits and starter kit beards; it is as if Portland has sank down to the bay. i love the decor in here. It feels very classy. Last time I checked in ..the bartenders were really cute and hot. they were also super nice. This place has gotten popular though as there is 'dancing' on the 'dance floor' I'm a quiet person so I'd prob go on a slow night. Take a friend there to talk and rehash. etc. Days where there are concerts for the hipsters may make my fav spot too crowded. So I'd probably avoid it then. Hipsters creep me out. read more

The waitress hacked her lungs out into her hands and i did NOT see her wash them - guess who came over to serve me? I love this place! The bartenders are friendly and attentive. The music is always good. I've met some really cool people here in the 20+ times that I've gone. I especially love to go on the weekdays when it's less crowded because it's a great atmosphere and not too loud. Weekends are appropriately loud and fun. There were great people around us lots of different diverse groups of people and what was awesome was when they were giving out hotdogs to the people that were driving by. While you're inside it kind of looks like a graveyard but hey, I love it! They also have a pool table back in the back so you can really enjoy your time there. The drinks are definitely strong. The people work in there are definitely nice. Here comes uncomfortable situation. As we're all celebrating Independence Day, we need to include everybody within. My friends and others around us started to feel uncomfortable when an individual on a bike came out with the confederate flag.... right afterwards an employee who works there came out with a don't tread on me with the snake flag... if you don't know what that means, look it up. As an establishment we're all there to really enjoy independence Day and just really be happy that we live in such a democracy. To see that someone that worked there had that flag on their head that represent politics really made me feel uncomfortable. Everybody has their opinion, but when you're working at an establishment politics need to be kept out of it! When you bring politics into your establishment, you're really turning off other people that really want to enjoy themselves. You did a great job of giving out to the community by providing a barbecue, but when you start to have political means on top of your head , it makes your establishment look like there is bias. I WASNT THE ONLY ON WHO FELT THAT WAY. This is a 5 star place... take the politics out and you'll encourage everyone to come.

We waited 15 minutes outside in the cold, where Taylor, the same hostess who later seated us, added us to the waitlist and then asked us to leave because there was "no standing room." After 30 more minutes, we finally received the text to come in. When we returned, Taylor didn't acknowledge us and told us to go to the back of the line. After showing her our text, she seated us. We noticed two open seats at the bar and asked if we could sit there. She said the bar was first come, first serve..yet moments later, she seated two walk-ins who had been behind us in line at those exact seats. The inconsistency and lack of hospitality made us feel completely disrespected. We were excited to finally get in, but ultimately decided to leave. Such a bummer!!
