I don't have a restaurant. But cooking for my large family can seem like I do sometimes. Although because of crappy Covid we haven't spent the time together like we used to. Any who. Back to why I said I don't have a restaurant. Everyone tells me about Restaurant Depot but I have no access to it. But I somehow always need another kitchen item but I want quality. Heavy Duty equipment. I like knowing what I'm cooking is not gonna stick to the bottom of a cheap pan. You know what I'm talking about. Ugh! Pans that look great but water sticks to it. This is where Bar Boy comes in. I can get restaurant quality items for awesome prices. Whether it's a pot, top, utensil. Even appliances. Bar Boy has what I needed. It's been quite awhile since I've been there (over a year) but had to send a link to a friend I had introduced to Bar Boy a few years ago & it was easier to send the Yelp link than find the 'real' link for them. Very surprised @ the negative reviews here. I have been most impressed in the past @ the selection of QUALITY equipment they offer and the one time I ordered it was a happy experience & was delievered in a timely fashion. Bar Boy is NOT flashy in ANY way but if you want QUALITY to take home & couldn't care less about pretty music & decorations in the store while getting serious Kitchen equipment THIS is the place! I really dig this place. It's a Resturant/Bar supply store. They have just about everything you are looking for. Cookware, serving supplies, kitchen tools,glassware and everything else you need for your establishment. If you can find another bar supply store to go to...run, don't walk there, instead of going to BarBoy!!! This is the kind of place that can be so fun to wander around and buy all kinds of cool stuff! aka It would be easy to drop a lot of dough there on all kinds of things you don't really need. Unfortunately, their bad attitudes and general lack of interest take all of that potential away. While some of the newer, younger staff are friendly-ish, and semi- accommodating, it doesn't make up for the older employees who seemed inconvenienced, and downright offended that you want to buy their products! As a professional bartender, I often need new supplies for my freelance gigs. I've been in Barboy regularly since the summer and most of the time they can barely be bothered to help me. On my most recent trip, a few days ago, I was searching for a specific kind of clear plastic 'spill-stop' pourer w/ a black collar. I saw they had it displayed in chrome, but not in the 'clear' I desired. I brought 2 different bags of pourers up to the register (the chrome-collared pourers w/ the collar, and clear plastic pourers w/o the collar). An older gentleman behind the counter continued to casually peruse a catalog for a few minutes, as I stood there waiting for help. When he finally looked up, I specifically explained my situation and what I was seeking. He looked at me like I was stupid, grunted and mumbled that I already had what I was looking to find. To which I clarified, "No, these clear pourers don't have a collar. Pointing to the chrome ones I asked, 'Do you have these in clear?' To which I received another grunt response, sounding something like a curt 'No.' This man had no customer service skills at all and frankly seemed offended that I even wanted to buy something at his store! He was standing there with a huge catalog of bar products in front of him and he couldnt have offered to look through it to see if he could order them for me?! Yeah right! I left feeling dismissed, unappreciated and unwelcome. I could've settled for the chrome pourers, but his rude behavior sealed the deal on me walking out w/o them. So, I went home and ordered them online! I'd rather pay a bit more from a company that actually appreciates its customers, then buy them from people who think they're better than the people who walk in their store. Sidenote: In 2012, after hurricane Sandy my father went into BarBoy with a close friend whose butcher shop was destroyed from the storm. They were looking to buy new equipment, which would have been at least $7000 in sales for BarBoy. They were given a lot of attitude by the employee helping them. Then the employee said he would get back to them with an estimate of what the equipment would cost (again at least a $7k sale) and the man never called them back!!! If they care so little about such a big sale, and disregard future business so much, then clearly they don't need anyone else's patronage. So you might as well go somewhere else where they want, and appreciate, new customers and actually want to sell their products! Shape up BarBoy!!! read more

I must agree with the review by Alicia R. here. I had a similar type of experience yesterday at Bar Boy. For starters, I recently purchased a $10k order from them in light equipment. My experience with that was OK at best. The only comment I have for this experience was that they said they would give a completive quote on the equipment since I was placing a nice sized order. The quote was nothing short than list price but I will admit it was much better than WinDepot of Restaurant Depot. Fine. Without going into a he said/ she said story here, I called to confirm if they had a product in stock that they supposedly previously ordered. When I called, I got a rude woman on the phone telling me yes. I made the trip down there and of course, they didn't have the product. When the proceeded to talk down to me, I simply cut them off and put them in their place. Don't talk down to me - better yet, don't talk down to US, THE PEOPLE who are in this business our whole lives. We know what we are doing. Don't talk like you know more about this business than we do. We know what stuff costs, we know the quality of the products so don't try and talk down to us. You are a middle man supplier. You do not know about the business for if you did, you would BE in business for yourselves. Management/Ownership: get your house in order. Weed these lazy people out. read more

I had a real emergency at my restaurant and needed a refrigerator ASAP. They were the only supplier on the Island that was able to deliver for me the next day- and at a good price. The younger salesman was very knowledge and helpful - I think his name is Junior. Since my experience, I have continued to use Bar Boy for all my restaurant supply/ equipment needs. I always try to keep business local. The young man that works there is a complete dick. Plain and simple. Not sure if he hates his job or his life or both but he is miserable. He really should consider a job that does not involve any customer service whatsoever. Will never go back there, will get everything I need for less money online without an atitude. I'm always in this place. I live literally a block away. They always seem to have what I need cuz I never remember I need to go there until I'm about to fly by. The staff is always nice. I placed an order for a skillet that I had purchased from BarBoy in the past off the shelf. Not in stock on the day I visited the store, I was informed that they would receive it with their next order. I was called to say it was back in stock. The next day I arrived to pick up the skillet and noticed that I was not given the normal 5% discount that I have been receiving for years....when I questioned the gentleman at the counter about it, he was combative and argumentative with me. Insisting that it was a "special order", I was not entitled to it. It was only 5%...not a big deal to me really, but to be so arrogant and abusive was so wrong. I wanted the skillet, so I purchased it and told him to keep his discount! I WILL NEVER shop there again. Owning a large catering business, I have spent a lot of money at Bar Boy...This was not a pleasant experience and I will never go back! read more
