Took a chance on a Google search of mobile mechanics in the area. We are so glad we chose Sky's. Schuyler came out and did an assessment of our problem, ordered the part and returned the next day to complete the repair. He noticed a problem that we weren't even aware of, and trouble shot the repair. We appreciated his keeping in contact with us when he was in route by phone and text. I'll give an example of why Autocraft Inc and the head mechanic Jimmy are so great. Once I had trouble with my car - it was overheating. He suspected the car needed a new waterpump, but he later found it was a problem with the gauge. Despite doing the equivalent of a thousand dollars worth of labor and parts, he only charged for what he would have charged if he was right which was a fraction of the price. I even authorized the extra work expecting to pay more. Jimmy refused to be paid until the car was fixed right. I mean, he could have just said "Hey, the estimate was off, I did a lot of work on your car, I deserve to be paid". That's how a lot of other shops do it. Basically, this guy seems like he is in the mechanic business because he likes to fix cars, he likes people and wants people to trust him and keep coming back. He takes pride in his work and his reputation and that is a hard thing to find these days. If you work downtown, I would recommend leaving your car to have it worked on, then just walk down Polk st to pick it up.

Since our son was towing a trailer towing the rig to the shop was problematic but since no other Amarillo towing service stepped up to the plate Colton did. He figured out how to tow the rig to the Dean shop. He got on the search for a new fuel pump immediately the next day and located a unit 2 hours away. Long story short we were back on the road just past 3:00. The pump was physically located between the top of the fuel tank and the truck bed. So they had to drop the fuel tank in order to reach and replace the fuel pump. Colton was AMAZING. Everything he did was focused on successfully getting us back in the road. Our boost wasn't working and Colton immediately looked at the exhaust system. It had holes in the system and he pulled the damaged pieces out-had them rebuilt and put the new ones in. When we started it up, he found another air leak in the gasket around the hydraulics and ordered that for us when he couldn't find one in Amarillo. After two days, it came in and we were back on the road..no delays, excellent attitude and the charges were definitely reasonable. We rarely find a diesel mechanic with this much skill and drive. My wife, her mother, sister, and aunt all met in Dallas for a one time road trip back to Phoenix,…read morewith planned stops in Texas to see Palo Duro Canyon, and then in Santa Fe. After visiting the canyon, they had reservations at a hotel in Canyon TX. Their 2016 Honda CR-V was acting up, and after parking at the hotel, they discovered that it was leaking fluid underneath. The next morning they had it towed to Crabtree Automotive Repair, where Gary took care of them to a level that went so far above and beyond that I get moved just thinking about it. He quickly discovered that the transfer case was leaking, and ordered one from Dallas to be delivered the next day. He was completely transparent about the cost, and that he wouldn't know if there were other problems with the transmission until he got the new transfer case installed. The next morning, he drove to the airport in Amarillo to pick up the part, and had it installed by 2pm. Unfortunately, after test driving, it became clear that the transmission was bad too. Hanging around in Canyon to wait for it to be fixed was not an option. Santa Fe was already a lost stop, and the travel party was feeling defeated. I was home in Phoenix, discussing the options with my wife. There was talk of everyone splitting up and going to their respective homes. They decided to complete the trip to Phoenix, but they would need to get to the airport in Amarillo to secure a rental car. Once again, Gary came to the rescue, and offered to drive them all, and their luggage, to the airport the next day. When I first learned about the car trouble, I told my wife that the best vacation stories almost always came from times when things didn't go as planned. People step up to help when we need them. Some of them go far beyond, and Gary is one of those people. He took care of my family when I couldn't, and he saved the day. That's a hero. Not to mention, he's also an expert mechanic who will fix your car at a more than fair price.
