We and our family have been loving Bar-H since it opened - so many family and church dinners with their food. Don't forget the wide dessert selection - especially the chocolate pie, hummingbird cake, and banana pudding - and tonight a new favorite, crustless coconut pie. The service was excellent. The dining room is spacious and clean. The restroom is very clean. I had the pulled pork and it was a little dry and i've could not taste the smoke. The hot bbq sauce fixed that. The cole slaw was excellent and brunswick stew was very good and you can get a refill! The stew texture was very smooth and blended. My wife said her smoked chicken half had a very good smoky flavor. The dinner is served with a pitcher of excellent sweet tea. I would come back to try the ribs. read more

I really hate to complain about restaurants, but they completely screwed up our drive-through order AGAIN, like how do you order the barbecue meal with slaw and stew and meat and then they completely leave out your bbq meat! This is not the first time they've got our order wrong. There was another issue when ordering bbq meat and after I drove all the way back home, I realized there was no barbecue sauce in the bag! It wouldn't be such a big deal if I didn't live further away! I'm glad that they have a bunch of regulars that go eat up there repetitively because for people who actually check reviews before going places, I hope anyone considering eating there will read this and think twice! The food is good but if you order at the drive thru or to go, double check your order is right and that everything is right before you leave the restaurant!!! The ribs were Pre cooked and very tough and dry when reheated. The stew was great and they come around with free refills.

Tried the spare ribs, baby back, pork, slaw and Brunswick. The spare ribs were miniature imported ribs, likely Danish or NZ, lacking in size and flavor. Seemed like they had been smoked, then moved to an oven to bake the sauce on. Seemed like they had been on a steam table too. Extremely disappointing. Baby backs had a nice smoke ring, but again lacking in flavor- and hints of being steamed at some point. Maybe even parboiled- I shudder at that possibility. Pork was dry, no flavor. Slaw was made in a blender, almost a puree. Slaw had a watery mayo sauce with no punch. The stew was by far reminiscent of a bbq smoothie. Lacking in flavor, pasty, and worse than baby food from a jar. Just call it a meatshake, because it could be drunk with a small straw. I simply cannot think of a reason to eat here again. read more

We drove by Bar H, but quickly circled back - very glad that we did! This family run restaurant is top notch - from the friendly and knowledgeable staff and servers, to the obvious knowledge of smoking meats in the back that grandpa handles. We had the brisket with brunswick stew and cole slaw. The brunswick stew and brisket were outstanding, but the cole slaw is what I've been traveling the earth to find - it was finely chopped with just the right amount of moisture and liquid, really just like my grandmother used to make. read more

I liked this place... The BBQ pork was a little bland without sauce. Their sweet sauce was my favorite and was not on the table. It was offered by our waitress along with a mustard and vinegar based sauce. I had the slaw, beans, and Pork plate. As I understand you get refills of pork if you get the plate. I was happy with the portion that was served initially. I did get a refill on the stew, which was good. It all came with some Lays chips and two pieces of white bread. The place was super clean, roomy, open... Great service too - someone checked on us every five minutes. Nice people. You get a pitcher of tea on your table. My wife asked for unsweetened and they brought a second pitcher for her. There were all sorts of people in the place, guys who looked like they had been working in an engine to people who looked like they were lawyers or judges in some nice suits. Most of the folks seemed to know at least a few other people in the place which produced a nice hometown feeling. We were eating after a quail hunt and were hungry. We visited Bar H Barbecue for the first time on Friday night and was very pleased. When we walked in the door several employees spoke and guided us to a table. We were immediately greeted by Ava. She had a beautiful smile and a great attitude. The restaurant was clean and very pleasant. I asked to sample the stew and Ave brought a sample for all of us at the table. We placed our order and in no time, it was brought to the table. The food was delicious, and we were offered additional helpings of the side items. Bar H After visiting the Ty Cobb HOF in Royston, my three college buddies and I decided to stop at Bar H for lunch. Why not? They like BBQ. I'm a certified BBQ judge and Yelp had this place rated at 4.4 stars. Where to start. After being seated the waitress left four individual sized bags of Lays potato chips for us. Little did we know that would be the highlight of the meal. Two ordered the pork sandwich, one ordered the meat (pork) plate and I tried the 1/3 rack of ribs. The other three all echoed the same comment, "the pork had no flavor". No smoke flavor. No apparent rub or seasoning. Bland. The meat plate featured something called Brunswick Stew. When I asked about it, the reply was, "same as the pork - zero flavor". When my ribs arrived, they looked a bit odd. I obviously received the end third of the rack. I prefer the middle, but realistically, not everyone can have that. So upon the judges first bite, here was my take: 1. Over sauced. I prefer ribs that need no help. This sauce tasted like a combination of honey, mustard and vinegar. It did nothing to enhance the flavor. It merely served as a distraction. 2. Overcooked. These ribs were super dry. Maybe that's why they needed sauce? 3. Bland. Like my buddies evaluation, there was just a total absence of smoked pork flavor . I'm being generous when I give two stars, but I will. One for the waitress. She did smile and check on us. The other star is for the cole slaw which in my opinion was slightly above average. My buddies disagree with me on that evaluation. They did not care for it much. So, if this was representative of southeastern style BBQ, I'm eternally grateful to live in the Kansas City area. read more

I don't eat meat, but back when I did, I loved the chicken and standard ribs here. My favorite offering, however, is the cole slaw (mayo-based). I have eaten slaw at so many different restaurants and Bar H is by far the best I have ever eaten. In Georgia or any other state. It's a simple place with a spartan menu. You can expect to order pork barbecue (comes without sauce on it -- so you can apply mild or hot sauce at the table), half chicken, ribs, and baby back ribs. Sides for most plates include Brunswick stew (and they give you free refills!) and the perfect cole slaw. Chips and sunbeam loaf bread are also customary. It's a seat yourself kind of joint, and food comes out quickly. There's also a super fast drive-thru. Only open Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 10am-9pm (or whenever they sell out). It's family-owned and operated. A favorite of my whole family, and a must whenever we come into town. read more

My mother is a big fan of the chicken so whenever I'm up for eating meat I'll come with her. While the mainstay is that delicious smoky, tangy chicken, for the longest I had remained a fan of their ribs and pulled pork, often getting the pulled pork plate. Bar H has your staples of slaw, Brunswick stew, white bread, and some Lays chips with sweet tea at every table. The service is fast. Really fast. They might even ask you what you'd like before you even look at the menu it's so fast. Not to hurry you, but just a possible assumption that you might know what you'd like right then and there. Great place to eat best bar b cue I ever tasted. Side dishes were great. Homemade slaw like mama makes .When you come come hungry. Deserts are delicious. Ribs are melt in your mouth. 1 star for great friendly service 1 star for Atmosphere, and convenience of drive thru. 1/2 star for great cole slaw, good sauces. 1/2 star for being better than the others around you, but still mediocre q. The pulled pork had no bark, no smoke flavor whatsoever, so Im assuming it wasn't smoked. It needed sauce, desperately, because it was dry without it, no au ju. But put it on a sandwich with sauce and pickle, not bad. overall, unimpressive. The Ribs: spare ribs, once again, zero bark, no rub, looked boiled, slathered in sauce, the fat wasn't rendered, they weren't good. Baby backs, disappointing, and the mustard sauce just didn't fit, that sauce would be great on chicken. In all fairness, I was warned not to get the ribs, and to get the chicken. Haven't tried the chicken yet, I hear its good. Bar H isn't bad, they're better than their competition, but thats still not saying much. I wanna see smoke rings, and bark. read more

This place is great. The food is delicious! I cleaned my plate, and then the waitress offered me free refill of Brunswick stew! I think I was in heaven. All of the waitresses were very attentive, and made sure I was well taken care of. Their bbq sauce was great as well, I had hot and mild on my table.
