My friend and i went to go fish at the lake and stopped by for some food immediately as we walked in he turns to me and says i already know its going to be good. Its a self seating and a waitress immediately came to the table Drinks came immediately too we then ordered snd it took less than 5 minutes the food was amazing we got ribs and a bbq sandwich the waitress said it would take a little longer since they had to chop it up which shows everything is fresh but i would rate it higher read more

I ordered through Door Dadh and it was delivered so I can't comment on the actual location. The food was pretty good. And there was a lot of it too. I ordered the 1/4 lb pork plate with Brunswick stew and coleslaw on the side. It came with a bag of chips and 2 slices of white bread. I ordered mild bbq sauce. Overall it was good I have never had Brunswick stew before but I liked it. The slaw was tasty. The pork was shredded, tender and moist, had a good flavor. I am still getting used to the BBQ sauce in Georgia, more watery than I am used to but I liked the flavor. I enjoyed it and I will be back!! read more

The food is delicious I usually pick between pulled pork,ribs, or the bbq nachos. They are very reasonably price and they have a good location and stay busy so if you want to eat you will have a little bit of a wait but it's worth it. Tried this BBQ drive thru for the first time. Was disappointed, everything lacked flavor. The ribs tasted like parboiled ribs with very little smoke flavor, mushy consistency, same with the chopped pork. The coleslaw, beans and Brunswick stew lacked any flavor. The two slices of bread and bagged potato chips were the best. Cannot recommend & will not be returning. It is sad what you pay for these days. Please restaurant food preparers taste your own food before you have people pay for what we received, we know BBQ can done with great flavor and texture if the person doing it cares enough to do it right. read more

This was my first restaurant I ate when I was visting Georgia. Friendly staff. The food was good. Wasn't pricey at all. I like that everything was at your reach. Utensil and napkins were in a basket on your table ( I hate bothering waitress to bring me stuff ). The atmosphere was country looking. You will see a lot of pigs decorations. I won't return unless the ownership changes. Mediocre at best. The ribs are boiled and then they claim to smoke them. I challenge you to detect any smoked flavor. The only flavor comes from whatever sauce you apply. I had a plate of ribs and my wife had a chopped port plate with Brunswick stew and slaw. She only ate half of it. Quite frankly, you can do much better at home on your own grille. This place, and dozens of others are located in NE Georgia. This is farm country. Lots of fresh veggies, and pastured meats, including pork available from local farmers instead of buying CAFO Factory meats from Sysco. YUCK! read more

I truly enjoyed my meal at Backstreet. The BBQ was good, and the sauces were delicious. I actually had them package up one of each kind before I left. The service is just sweet as can be. The menu is simple and straightforward. I had the BBQ sandwich platter which included slaw and stew. Both were quite good. We also ordered the chocolate delight dessert which was so good, and it remindmed me of a church potluck dessert. Sweet tea was perfect. Have to agree with Bud and Jon...unfortunately. When I walked in, the place smelled like a BBQ shack should...nice and smokey. Had a pulled pork plate - the pork was dry and had no smoke flavor at all. The sauces were ok if you like vinegar-based sauce. The brunswick stew looked like it had been run through a blender - not a single whole kernel of corn - and it was very bland. The mayo-based slaw looked and tasted like it came out of a 5 gallon pail. On the positive side, the staff was attentive and friendly and the prices were quite low...$7 for a plate dinner. Sure not the worse BBQ I have ever had but then not the best either, good stew ( I prefer hash) meat is a little dry with little smoke flavor but it is cooked with wood, avoid the ribs and I think the chicken has been brined in salt water. As a fat man with a lot of BBQ under my belt, I simply do not agree with the negative reviews. The Backstreet pork is tender and smoky with a great flavor!! They do need to improve their sauce and it is true that the ribs and chicken are not great. However, the Stew is some of the best I have ever had....we often carry out two quarts of the stew for our dinner. One reviewer states that Old South BBQ is better...I have eaten at Old South about six times and Backstreet dozens of times. Old South's BBQ pork seems shredded and taste three days old....to me anyway. Some friends of mine rave about their beef brisket though. Bar H BBQ in Franklin Springs (Royston), Georgia is also very good and similar to Backstreet. The very best BBQ in the overall area, is Circle M BBQ on Liberty Hwy (Hwy 178), north of Anderson, SC just south of the intersection with Hwy 88 (not really that far from Hartwell). The BBQ pork is tender and smoky but spicy as he adds his sauce to the pork before it is served. The BBQ chicken and BBQ ribs are rubbed and slow cooked and WOW....they are probably the best in the world.....however, they are a bit spicy and warm for some folk. Circle M's stew is not great and his menu is very limited with only slaw (good...sweet with vinegar), beans (not very good), chips and rolls as side dishes. If you go there order a combo plate to try it all. read more
