I travel frequently for business and eat out often. This is a typical small town steakhouse. This isn't Saltgrass! I was greeted by a friendly hostess and my waitress was nice and and attentive. My cowgirl sirloin was deliciously seasoned and cooked as requested. The sweet potato was melt in your mouth fantastic. I also enjoyed the warm dinner rolls. While traveling in the area we had to stop for dinner, after a Yelp review of the local area we decided on this place. We're eating a little later than normal but the restaurant is busy. We were quickly seated got our drinks. A review of the menu and steak was the option. It came with 2 sides and a salad bar. A uniquely style transformed wagon was the salad bar. The salad bar looked good and all items looked fresh. I was not disappointed I ordered an 8oz filet and sides and at first appeared looked real good. I asked our server for ketchup & Heinz 57 (just in case). As it turned out the fries were cold . Second side was steamed veggies - they are fine. My first choice was the sweet potato but they were sold out. The steak was surprisingly good and I did not need the H57 sauce. My chances of returning are slim but if in the area this is a worthy choice! read more

The New York Strip and rolls were great, but the salad bar?!? It was awesome!! We just don't find very many of them around anymore. The waitresses were very sweet and attentive. The inside was very rustic, much like a Bonanza steakhouse from years gone by. Very comfortable. This place was exactly what we needed after a 400 mile motorcycle ride. 1/2"-3/8" thick steak ! Cold French fries. Coke had a foul taste. The only thing that was up to par was the potato salad on the salad bar! This place has no atmosphere and the bathrooms are not taken care of. This place looks and feels like the 1980's. Don't waste your money here. P.S. the wait staff were very nice. The decor welcomes the 70's and all the fun colors. The fried mushrooms were a big hit. If you have been missing a salad bar...this is your place. It seemed to attract all ages. This food was awful! Steak was over cooked and chewy. The fried mushrooms tasted old/mushy and made my friend ill. Green beans are bland and tasteless. Also as we were leaving we saw the grease bin in the back with a nasty burnt pot just dripping grease. Makes me sick to my stomach to think how nasty the kitchen must be. The food is ok. I ordered an 8 oz filet and it was not as thick as I expected. I liked the salad bar that comes with the meal, the price is really good. But the filet was just ok... not the best. I ordered double veggies as my side and they were Luke warm to cold when my plate arrived. Probably the best place to eat in Monahans... just ok but it was fine for a one time experience. We stopped in on our way to Odessa, it was right a rush hour 12:00. The wait staff are super nice, you can sit just about anywhere since it is a big place. After our drink order our waitress brought us warm dinner rolls and butter pods. We ordered chicken fried steak sandwich which is served on a hoagie bun with lettuce tomatoes and a side of white gravy and your choice of sides ( we got fries, I ordered Philly steak and cheese, and is served with grilled mushrooms and thin sliced bell peppers. I took a photo which I hope I can add. This is a big meal. I wish they had a senior size, I took half the sandwich home. I felt warm and family oriented. read more

I drove around this little town for about 30-minutes looking for a place to eat. The place with the most cars in the parking lot won. You guessed it...Bar-H Steakhouse. I ordered the steak fingers that came with 2 sides. I got the green beans and the fried okra. The sides were both excellent. It also came with a salad bar and soup. The salad was nothing special, but the pinto beans were excellent. The steak fingers were another issue. Tough and chewy would be a good way to describe them. The accompanying gravy, let's just say it was NOT a hit. Of all the places in town this seemed to be the best choice. read more

This great place was a couple blocks from the best Western we were at & the guy at the front desk told us about it so we came here & we were very glad we did the biggest surprise was when my hubby asked about beer, they said it was b.y.o.b gtfoh who would have thought but its true, you bring your own liquor & they give you glasses for it great idea! Then the portions , omg huge, I ordered chicken strips, with potatoes & this time tried the white gravy & it was delicious plus a salad ( they let you do that yourself at the salad bar ). The service was great too, everyone very nice and the place was very open not crammed together, it felt good there, I had to take home alot of the food home I was so full! We happened upon this place on a trip from Alabama to New Mexico. I had the cowboy ribeye and it was absolutely delicious and cooked perfectly. My lady had the shrimp and steak shish-kebab's which she really enjoyed. The service was excellent. We really enjoyed our dinner. Very friendly staff and an inviting atmosphere create a very nice establishment that I would eat at at least once a week if I lived closer. This place is everything I think of when I think of a steak house in Texas. read more

We did enjoy eating here a couple of times on a cross country trip. It was Friday the first time and I had the AYCE catfish. The wagon/salad bar is the star of this place. We really did enjoy the food here and the service was good too. One of the ladies even made us a fresh pot of coffee when we stopped on the way back home. The salad bar had pickled okra. We do not see that in our town. We will be back next time we find ourselves on Hwy 20 in west Texas. read more

Went with a party of twelve after church today as we were in town visiting family. We were seated in the back overflow or larger dining area. This was issue #1. Everyone who came in after our group who were seated in the main dining area ordered and received their food at least 45 minutes before our party. And they were large parties. Issue #2 ordered the chicken teriyaki. Decent rice, green beans tasted as though they were heated straight out of the can with zero seasoning. Sweet potato was good. Chicken was somewhat raw texture wise and could t eat about half of it it. Mushy, smushy and just gross. Issue #3 it appeared two waitresses were charged with seating, taking orders, filling drink orders and delivering food to tables in addition to assuring salad bar was replenished. Half of our party never got lettuce - on a salad bar - among other items that were completely out. I get that folks are struggling to hire people given all those suckling on the government teat but how about owner or management helping out and providing decent service and not the bare minimum. I get why folks drive to other towns giving them business and not monahans america. When the oil business dies down again who will you turn to for customers? read more

Everything seemed like it came frozen off a Cysco truck. My mashed potatoes were yellow and gritty, how can you mess up powdered mashed potatoes? Well they did it. No staff here wear masks. The sneeze bar over the salad bar is too high to protect from other's germs so I passed on salad. And the chicken-fried steak was prolly the worst I've ever had. Don't come here. I think it may have been the absolute worst steak I've seen or attempted to eat. Pretty sure it was frozen and thawed multiple times, and by the time it was served to me it was cooked to a gray medium. The inside of the baked potato was brown. I stopped here on a Cross country Drive, just craving a good steak. It's really the only thing around. What are the fillet, it was cooked correctly but the meat itself was a little tough, sinewy. Definitely NOT worth the money. The salad bar was minimal but adequate. The side dishes were nothing to write home about. We visited around 330 on a Saturday. Service was extremely slow, it took forever for everything, our waitress was not in any hurry at all. The salad bar was ok-considering it was mid afternoon and I knew it wouldnt be fresh. I ordered the hamburger steak-i expected gravy, no gravy,it was dry and over cooked. My husband order a steak which was mostly gristle & fat. The best part of the meal was the baked potatoes and rolls. In route back to Phoenix, we decided to stop in Monahans, TX to eat. Monahans does not have a lot to offer, especially if you are looking for something to appease a family of 5 with fussy eaters. We clearly missed the land of opportunity when we passed Odessa. We were pleasantly surprised. My son and husband had a great steak, I selected the salad bar stocked with a good variety to include steak and vegetable soup, hot beans, fresh salad fixings, and bread puddinga, and my little ones had streak fingers.
