I have eaten at Bar Lucca twice now. Both times, it was because we tried to eat at other local Italian restaurants, arrived to see plenty of empty tables, and were turned away because the ENTIRE restaurant was reserved for the next 2+ hours or they were seating parties of two at four tops...but I digress. Both times, we called Bar Lucca and were told that they could seat us. They seemed to be plenty busy, but they made it work. God bless you, Bar Lucca. I ordered the a pasta dish with pesto the first time and enjoyed it even if the basil flavor was a bit lacking. On visit number two, I went for the pappardelle with wild boar ragu and LOVED it. The pizzas are excellent also- we got the patata pizza as a starter and it was delicious. Don't be scared off by the unique ingredients. We split an order of cannoli cream gelato for dessert...I believe this was a special, but I vote that they add it to the regular menu as it's pretty fantastic. read more

Bar Lucca is adorable. They deserve 5 stars for atmosphere. Nice front porch area, dimly lit and rustic/modern interior. We arrived as a party of 4 without reservations around 9 PM on Friday night and were seated immediately. This is a small plates/meant to share restaurant. Our waitress suggested 5-7 plates for our table. We started out with the meatballs which were good, but came as an order of 3 with 4 people at the table. Wish we would have known that prior. We then ordered the margherita pizza which was very average, the prosciutto pizza which was pretty good, and the tartufo which was the standout with mushrooms, goat cheese, ricotta and truffle oil (duh why wouldn't it be good with all those indulgent ingredients!), and the wild board pasta dish which was also dubbed mediocre. They had a decent wine and beer list with a limited number of cocktails. Prices are pretty on par with anywhere similar you might go in the city, but I just feel like the quality of the food wasn't really as high as you might get there. If they didn't have pizza, their menu would be pretty lackluster. Will I go back? Yes- it's definitely unique for Conshy and within walking distance. But, it will not be a go to. read more

I am saddened to say that I will not be returning here for a meal anytime soon. I had been wanting to try this place for a while now - their cute decor and outdoor patio area made me want to try this place. The only thing that saves this place is their drinks (otherwise they would be getting a 1 star review). When we arrived at 530, we were informed that happy hour specials are only available in the bar area - not available if you plan to sit down and actually eat their food. We decided to order a cheese plate as an appetizer and boy, we were disappointed. The cheese plate consisted of 3 cheeses that were never identified, 3 "accompaniments" that were never explained to us, old strawberries that were soggy, and extremely hard crostini. One of the worst cheese plates I have ever experienced. Then, our food came out. I had ordered the gnocchi, my brother ordered the arugula pizza, and my dad ordered a pasta dish with a ragu sauce. I took one bite and actually spit out my food. The amount of saltiness in my dish was astronomical. It was not even edible (my dog, whom eats everything, didn't even want it when I got home). There was never any offer of cheese, cracked black pepper, or red pepper for any of our meals. I thought maybe mine was a fluke since it did have pancetta in it (which is very salty to begin with). I was wrong - the pizza and other pasta dish were also exceedingly salty. My brother actually complained about the pizza to the waitress and she did try to accommodate him by asking if he wanted something else. But, after tasting the other meals, we did not want to even try ordering anything else. She finally brought him so cracked black pepper after he requested it. We certainly did not want to try dessert either. I actually heard the table behind us also complain about the saltiness, too. The bar area was very crowded for happy hour and their drinks were actually great. It seems like this is more of a place to come after work for a drink - not sit down and have a meal. read more

My favorite place to get dinner in Conshohocken! They get it. Great food AND service is why I constantly come back. The main courses and apps are all very good. The not so secret greatness is their Pizza. I love the pizza. This is s reliable, consistent, overall dining experience. I can't believe I waited as long as I did to eat here. It was delicious! Went here with my husband and another couple for Restaurant Week. The food was delicious. The only critique I have is that the salad I ordered did not specify that it had hot peppers in it, and I cannot eat hot things such as that. I have been here three times and had an enjoyable experience each time. The cocktails are well made and the draft wine is a plus. The food is decent. Some of the portions are a bit small, especially for the price. I do find that they use a lot salt in their food and, as someone who does not like salt, I find it to be off-putting. I also think they could step up their game in regards to happy hour. It's pretty limited depending on the day of the week. It would be nice to see some consistency of things offered every day so you dont have to worry about if the wine you like is on happy hour a specific day. read more

We ate here last night with a group of 6. We were very eager for our first visit to this new restaurant. I'm a big fan of the owners other restaurant in town The Stone Rose. Bar Lucca did not disappoint. The newly renovated building looked great and has large sliding windows that were open out front. Should be a nice spot for happy hour. This is a small dish style restaurant that and is perfect for sharing many different items. We started with a Pherro salad, arugula salad as well as stuffed meatballs. Can't go wrong with the meatballs. They come out in servings of 3 - so we ordered 3 plates of the meatballs. Next up we ordered 2 pizzas. The thin crust was perfect and had that nice wood burning oven taste. Can't remember which two we had but they were both good. We then had a couple of the pasta dishes - pappardelle and also fettuccine. I'm Italian and very picky when I eat pasta. This was absolutely homemade and was melt in your mouth perfect. Can't wait to try the other pastas! Last dishes included veal risotto, duck, and the steak. All were good but the veal risotto was definitely my favorite. It sounds like we ordered a lot but it was actually perfect for our group of 6. I did save some room for desert and had the Nutella donuts. Wow - it was awesome. Basically it is a bowl of donut balls that I think are fried and served warm. When you bite into the donut it is filled with chocolate Nutella. Oh my! Can't wait to get back for more! read more

Ate here this week with another couple. It being the new place in town we all were excited. After eating and having a few drinks at Bar Lucca I read the reviews and was shocked as to how good they all seemed to be. All four of us had the same opinions after leaving; service was bad, food was ok, not topas like one would expect, over priced for the qaulity of food ($100 a couple with two/three drinks each) Details: -service was slow and confused and there is no order to when the food comes out. -meatballs (got two orders because they come in 3) one order was cold and red in the center and taseted completely different than the other and the orders came out about 10minutes apart. -pizza (magatita) fare at best the most flavor came from the burnt crust. I know good flat breads and this is not one yet. -the other dishes i wont bore you with though they bored us in flavor. The Good- Atmosphere is great and the design is perfect. The concept will work. Its new and they have time to work out the kinks As of now I wont recommend it to anyone but will try again after a couple months and update. read more

Enjoyed this a lot! The servings are smaller (a la tapas), but I left quite satisfied. We started with a croquette of suckling pig....small, so I didn't ask hubby to share, but he seemed to like it. I got the mushroom bruschetta and inhaled it...earthy mushrooms balanced with a roasted tomato and julienned pear atop a pesto oil. Hubby had the steak...not an enormous piece, but nicely done. I had the bucatini...fresh, al dente and served with bacon lardons...Calabrian chiles gave it a nice heat. We finished with coffee and pistachio gelato. This, plus 2 glasses of wine was $75. The brussel sprout veggies were not done well and we did not eat them but all the entrees were good, their pizzas look excellent, and the staff was courteous and friendly. We are new to conshohocken and this is quickly becoming one of our favorite spots!! The overall atmosphere is cozy and fun. There are some unfortunate tables right in the middle of the dining room, but it's understandable they are trying to use the most of the space. Some highlights of dinner have been the burrata, octopus salad, the homemade pastas and the Nutella (!) donuts. The drink selection is great! The servers have been super nice and efficient. Unfortunately, it can be pricey given the relatively small portions of pasta especially. Also, I would not recommend the ricotta board because the ricotta was thin/watery. Finally, the hostesses always seem a little confused (e.g. One time we arrived and the hostess said, "I think someone is sitting at your table," but then just stood and stared at us and the computer instead of going to see if our table was available?) Overall, it has highs and lows like any place but I will definitely be back and would recommend going! read more

Went there on a whim... and was very impressed. Order family style and understand that the food comes out when it's hot and ready, not sitting under a heat lamp, so you get what you get when it's ready. The bucatini pasta with pecorino and bacon lardons was an amazing take on a carbonara dish, in fact the best I've had outside of Italy (even experimenting on my own many times). The cheese plate was great, I would just recommend they serve it with jams or preserves to add some sweetness to it (as I've had in Italy). Amazing potential with inconsistent service/food. I came to Bar Lucca for the first time with three of my friends on a Monday night. The waitress was very attentive at first, but steadily began paying less and less attention to us which was unfortunate. It got to the point that she was at the bar with the rest of the wait staff basically waiting for us and the two other tables left to leave. Annoying. So let's talk food. The meatballs? Meh, kinda dry and in a lack-luster broth The burrata? Delicious! Could have easily eaten three dishes of it The prosciutto pizza? Boring. I wish the prosciutto was sliced thinner, the crust was crispier and that it was seasoned better The gnocchi? Delightful! The green onions added a nice zing! The Brussels sprouts? I've had way better; definitely could have been crispier and more flavorful. They tasted mostly like olive oil. We finished with Nutella donuts which were actually very yummy! The ambiance is nice here and if the food and service were more consistent, my rating would be higher and I would be more likely to return but right now I'm not in a rush to do so. read more

Bar Lucca and the event coordinators did an amazing job for my parent's anniversary dinner. We reserved the chef's tasting room which has a rustic elegance. Everything from the food to the service was fantastic. Our server Kate was so sweet and explained the menu and drink choices beautifully. My fiancé and I went here for dinner last night and we were so impressed! We had the most fantastic waiter! We forget his name but he was from Venezuela. He was so friendly and even though he had a bunch of table [the place was packed!] he made us feel like we were his only table. The tap list and drink list were great. I got so distracted I didn't even check out the wine list-next time. We got the special Neopolitan pizza... caramelized onions, some kind of meat [i forget], and a couple of different cheeses. SO. DELICIOUS. It was thin and crispy but then had a fluffy top of the crust [where you pull the slice]. We also had an order of the meatballs which were so flavorful and delicious with their salt loaf. The manager even came around to all of the tables so see how we were doing and chatted with us for a few minutes - just such a great staff! This place is amazing! Went here with some friends on a Wednesday and had a terrific experience. It was busy and we managed to get a table upstairs. Our server Cann was a pleasure explaining all the specials and dishes as well as great wine recommendations. We started with the arugula salad, strawberry and procuitto salad, and bone marrow bruschetta. The bone marrow was suburb even though we had to dig out the goo ourselves. For our next course we got the bitto pizza, prime sirloin and meatballs. Everything was fresh and delicious. The pizza had a great brick oven char and the steak was cooked a perfect med rare. I can't stress enough how great our server Cann was. He was knowledgable, funny and really made our night. We will be going back very soon! read more

We had a 3 hour cocktail prix fixe for a small private party. Reserving the room and menu to our needs was professional and gracious. Upon arrival we were greeted by friendly people who gave us the option of gathering in the bar until our whole party arrived or proceeding to our room. It was a nice welcoming touch. The room was minimally, tastefully decorated with the table nicely set and ready for us. The room has excellent adjustable lighting, music levels and temperature control. There's an adjacent bathroom which was a big plus. At the end of the evening all agreed that the food, house wine and room were excellent and perfect. They loved the twist on Italian specialties. I can't say enough good things about Bar Lucca. The first time I sat at the pizza bar with my girlfriend and we just had pizza and dessert. The prosciutto pizza can't be beat! I had recently had Pizzeria Vetri and the pizza at Bar Lucca is just as good, if not better. One of the cooks told me the pizza oven was hand-built brick by brick over a period of months--you can taste the difference! The second time I brought my parents, brother and sister-in-law. We all ordered 2-3 of our favorite things and shared. The meatballs were fresh and juicy; the arugula salad brought the heat with those calabrian chiles; my Dad refused to share his pappardelle; and the wood fired prime sirloin was cooked to a perfect medium rare and the oven imparted all the smokiness of charcoal grill. It was one of the best dinners out I'd had in a long time. I see some reviews mentioning small portions--on both visits the waitstaff informed me that the portions were akin to tapas style and that we should order accordingly. That they would be on the smaller side was never in doubt. If you are with a group that loves to share I highly recommend going this route as you get to try the most dishes. Portion size was sort of irrelevant: I didn't leave hungry on either occasion. In addition, there are also always specials that throw a wrench into your order. The braised-rabbit pizza we ordered was phenomenal and showed why the pizza is absolutely on par with the best in the region. Final-Tip: Save room for dessert and the house-made Nutella donuts because they are BOMB! read more

Went here for the first time tonight with my wife. My wife is a vegetarian and I mistakenly ordered for her a fish dish. Even though the fault was mine, the server and manager went above and beyond to make our dining experience incredible. The pasta is under salted and overcooked into mush. The indoor volume when the establishment is full is unbearable and you can't have any sort of decent, quiet conversation. In addition, Brian and his staff have consistently been rude in general since joining the neighborhood. Parking illegally, overserving patrons that cause property damages when leaving the establishment. Playing music outdoors late into the night as the staff closes. Now having snow clean-up crews using very loud backpack snow blowers and plowing the lot while chatting at excessive volume after 2am. Waking up local children and parents for no discernable or decent reason. Or the joys of their large delivery trucks blocking an entire lane of traffic rather than pull into their insufficient parking lot space which also has patrons parking in private office lots in the surrounding streets and taking up virtually all available space forcing people that LIVE here to park blocks away from their homes. When asked to turn the music down rather than apologizing or complying Brian choose to argue that he has to have the music playing outdoors for the patrons as they enter. That is absurd esp. since we complained it was after closing hours. So the employees blare the music indoors and don't bother to turn it off or down outdoors. Overall mediocre food and dining experience exacerbated by poor management and a lack of community relationship skills make Bar Lucca not only unwelcome but all around unpleasant in what was previously a lovely and quiet community. read more

I went here for a quick lunch and was disappointed. I ordered the Tuscan chopped salad and was not worth the $14 at all. The chicken was dry and not a big piece at all, it came with no goat cheese which it was suppose to and had maybe 2 olives in it. So it pretty much was a bowl of greens and dried up chicken. This is an updated review. Very happy they're making it through the pandemic as they are for sure one of top options in town. I even applaud them for keeping up their takeout game as they manage the limited on-site capacity and takeout channels. As many restaurants shift back to on-site, I've seen the take out fall but not here. They have a solid menu, the brussels sprouts are amazing. What I really want to shout out is their catering. We recently had a small wedding celebration at our house and had ordered food. I asked for the food in disposable pans thinking I had the other parts (stands, burners etc.) what I didn't have and was a complete idiot about was having the water trays. When they came to drop off the food- they immediately noticed that and without hesitation went back and got the components we were missing and then refused to let us pay the for the additional equipment. None of the guests would know but it was the above and beyond act of kindness that kept the "reception" running smooth. I feel like people are being very harsh seeing as this place is so new. But I guess criticism is how you improve... Maybe yelp isn't the place for it though :/ Anyway, I drove by the other day and realized that a very old and dirty conshy haunt had been transformed into a beautiful indoor/outdoor good time! The patio was packed on a gorgeous sunny day, (no surprise!) and I was intrigued!!! My husband and I ordered the mushroom pasta and a margarhita (sp?) pizza to share. The pizza was a delicious thin crust variety, which was accompanied by extra spices and chili paste... Inventive and fun! The highlight of my day, however, was the chanterelle, walnut and tomato pasta. Homemade pasta? Yum! Fresh ingredients? Yes please! The most incredible sauce? Holy Moly - did they nail it!!!! The flavor and texture combination - seriously the best pasta dish I've had on the east coast since moving here 3 years ago! I can think of at least a handful of foodie friends that I'll be bringing back! Can't wait!!! Good work Bar Lucca! And thank you for the culinary delicacy! I had a show in the area and searched Yelp for a place to eat. Bar Lucca came up with a consistent 4 star rating, so we gave it a try. Glad we did! We got there around 4:30 PM and were seated immediately. The waitress told us that dinner will not be served until 5:00, but we could order salads and or pizza. So we opted for two salads, a small pizza - nurses along with a couple of glasses of wine. The waitress did inform us that the servings were more like a Tapas serving and meant for us to try several things, which we did. The salads were small, but plenty enough to enjoy and...very different. We shared this delicious pizza, thin, with herbs - very tasty. By the time we finished the pizza and salads, I had placed an order for the Sea Bass. The Sea Bass was very good, on top of a puree of butternut squash - yummy! We did not choose for any dessert, as we were already full from the salads, pizza & Fish. Great place to go, moderately priced. Good service, too! read more

One of my frequent places to eat when in the area, cannot go wrong with the pizzas, Brüssel sprouts are a must but can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The servings always leave you full and most times there is a doggie bag for lunch the next day. One issue is that it can be very crowded showing how good the food is. Very Good, hidden gem in Conshohocken! I am a foodie who grew up with restaurants in my family so I am very particular and fresh ingredients are so important to me. Bar Lucca definitely impressed me. The food was excellent, great small menu but with a nice variety. The waitress was also great, very friendly and helpful to help my husband find something that met his health restrictions. I was excited to try after reading the reviews.I went on a Saturday night and sat at the bar.The bartender was very nice and helpful.We wanted to try a little everything.Everything was very good.I do wish we could of got a cheese and meat board combo.We did get the meat board which had 4 slices of meat and some crostini type bread and strawberry slices.I would of like a little more meat.We also had clams-broth was nice to dip bread in ,pizza and Bronzino.Everything was very good but the portions are on the smaller size. It is very loud maybe because of the size or acoustics.Overall a good experience. My husband picked this for his birthday outing last night. When I had to drive around several blocks to find parking despite the lot next door, I should have known that this was going to be a disappointing evening. The entrance is very trendy (dark), with lots of exposed brick. My husband got a drink at the bar while I parked. When I arrived, the hostess took us upstairs to be seated. I was surprised that there was a second floor - none of the reviews mentioned that. Our server was extremely friendly and knowledgeable; however, we didn't receive any bread until our starters arrived. Now for the food. The purple potato soup which came recommended was way too bitter from dandelion greens but otherwise tasteless. The lardo bruschetta was okay but nothing special; again, the greens overpowered the taste. The pappardelle amazing. If we'd known we would have ordered just that. But at the suggestion of our server, we ordered the Coppa pizza. What a mistake. The pizza crust was burned to a crisp on the edges but the bottom was too soft, and the coppa was so salty that we were basically eating salty bread. Adding the chile oil just made it spicy, salty bread. For dessert, we had read raves about the Nutella donuts, so we got those. They were good but not the amazing confection we expected. All in all, we are glad we tried it but were so disappointed that we likely won't be going back. read more

I have been to Bar Lucca several times over the past year. I will say that it is one of my favorite restaurants in Conshohocken, perhaps that is because there are very few GOOD ones. Bar Lucca prides itself on its modern twist to traditional Italian meals. Pasta is hand made in house and it tastes as such. The waiters recommend multiple plates per table for sharing, however I have always ordered my own meal and have been very satisfied. My favorite meals have been the Fettuccini and pesto, meatballs, Bucatini, and the NUTELLA DOUGHNUTS. That's right, I said it. To die for!! The restaurant is beautifully decorated with a rustic industrial feel. Tonight I ate outside, which I thought would be charming until ten minutes in we became frightened we were too close to the street. I mean, if a car went astray for a moment, the whole outside dining area could be killed! Other than that, it was lovely. I recommend this restaurant to anyone living in the Conshy area looking for a quick and relaxing date night. read more
