It's an Asian fusion bar that feels more like a classic sports bar with some added flair. Alongside your usual fries and onion rings, you'll find things like bánh mì and bacon-wrapped chicken skewers on the menu. We tried both. The bacon-wrapped chicken skewers looked promising but didn't quite land. The chicken was a bit overcooked and had a chewy texture, while the bacon added a heavy saltiness without much depth. It felt like they tried to bring the moisture back with oil after the fact, which made it feel a little greasy. The flavor was very one-note--salty, with no real spice or sweetness to balance it out. I could see it working better if you were drinking, though. The bánh mì was decent but leaned heavily into a Western take. The bread was soft with a light crisp on the outside, but the filling lacked the punchy flavors you'd expect from a traditional one. There was no bold pickled tang or herbaceous kick--just mild meat, light sauce, and basic veggies. Not bad, just not exciting. Where the place really shines is the atmosphere. TVs in every direction, casual energy, and a space that clearly knows its crowd. If you're here for drinks and the game, you'll be in your element. Service was solid. The staff was friendly, quick, and made us feel welcome. Overall, the food didn't hit the mark for me, especially given it's in Chinatown where expectations are higher. Great Happy Hour & Even Better Pizza Loved the menu and happy hour deals--$46 for 4 items! The cheese pizza was genuinely the best I've ever had: thin crust, crunchy (not burnt), and the perfect sauce-to-cheese ratio. I ended up ordering a full-size one after trying the happy hour slice. I think of this place often. My friend told me they have good food so we ordered and normally the portions weren't enough for the price. We were in Philly for the first time a couple months ago. We were having drinks at a different bar and met two locals who told us to go to try Bar-Ly for the march madness games. As soon as we entered we knew we were in the right spot. Tons of tvs and the sound was on! Every table was full and the bar was hopping. A nice couple was leaving and gave us their seats. Bartenders were quick to offer drinks. Tons of draft beer selections! We drank and watched the game for a while. Everyone there was happy and having a great time. Such a vibe! We needed food and the menu was huge. One of the bartenders saw me struggling to decide and made some suggestions. We got dumplings, spring rolls, and crab cheese . Everything was amazing! I wish I would have taken pictures of the food but feel like you can't go wrong with their apps. Super excited because we will be in town again soon and I want to try the pho. We returned to Bar Ly for a quick happy hour prior to a movie in the neighborhood, and it's a great option for early happy hour in this area as I don't know of many others that have happy hour as early as 3-6pm. I tried their peking duck happy hour, was a little confused when 3 of them came out instead of 2, but then when the bill came it was full charge instead of HH price. The bartender was very kind in correcting the error when I mentioned it to him. The taste and quality was up to par with the price during happy hour, solid bao bun option. Their beer list still remains competitive, especially for a sports bar. The margarita was okay (pretty sure it's made with premix) but ok for happy hour, and I enjoyed my usual lycheetini because it takes me back to nostalgia-town. Parking: This is located in Chinatown, so mainly street parking. Be prepared to drive around and look for a spot. There are parking garage around the block because Bar-Ly is located right across from the convention center and diagonal from Reading terminal. This is definitely a to-go place if you and your group would like to find a place to chill or gather to watch a sport game. Not only do they have their own bar, but also have a wide variety of food on their menu! Running from Viet cuisine to sushi to pizza and wings! The vibe is just energetic once you step your foot in, especially during a sport game like the Superbowl! But I would suggest make early reservations during those big game nights. There is also a party room available for guests to book for a party. Food & Drinks: I tried their wings with mango habanero sauce, salmon pizza, and one of their drink with lychee and ginger beer that I can't recall right off my head. The drink was pretty good. While in Philadelphia for a convention, we returned to Bar-Ly for the first time in years. We had a generally good experience the first time we were here (approx 2017-18) and were happy to meet some friends here. Unfortunately upon arrival, we found it overcrowded, loud, and hard to find a bartender. The bar was filled with sports bros making bets on their phones and the tv's maxed out with volume. Granted the SEC title game was on, but I felt bad for my non-sports loving wife. We soldiered on as we thought the food was worth it. Food this time was ok. My Philly was good but the fries were overcooked and a bit too greasy to enjoy. The server was in and out a few times but hard to find when needed. I love this place for happy hour and to watch football! Happy hour is every single day, which is amazing! My bf and I ordered the chicken skewers, fish ball skewers, fried calamari, mild salt and pepper wings that came with fries and Peking duck sliders. Everything was great and there's just so many food options listed for happy hour. Last nights winners were the sliders and wings! Calamari was good, but tasted a bit frozen. We stopped in here on a Sunday night. It was near our hotel and I saw they had a good assortment of beers on tap (including several local options). When we entered, there were maybe 15-20 people inside with several tables available. There were two servers and a bartender from what I could discern. We were seated and then left to our own devices. By devices, I literally mean our phones. As we were sitting there wondering when the server might return with menus, we eventually noticed that most of the tables around us (but not ours or the one next to it) had a QR code to scan for the menu. Our server never mentioned this. My friend grabbed one off another table and we were finally able to pull up the menu and select what we wanted. When the server eventually came back (it had been nearly 10 minutes at this point), we placed our drink orders and then he seemingly disappeared. We saw the bartender pour our beers and sit them on the bar top... where they sat for at least 5 minutes. The other server was whisking around her section while our sever was still off the floor. When he finally returned, he walked right by our beers but then finally brought them over a couple minutes later. The server was also very brusque and didn't apologize for the delay. We had also asked for water which finally came out. At this point we were already annoyed but were thinking of trying another local beer. When the sever finally came back to check on us, my friend briefly paused to pull up the list again to remember the name of the beer she wanted. He then just left us there without taking any orders. When he again returned 5-10 minutes later, we were entirely over it and asked for the check. I was very disappointed with the service here (or lack thereof). This business should probably ensure that each table has a QR code on it and that the patrons are informed of how to pull up the menu. I was actually hoping to try some of the food here on another day, but after this experience, we avoided it. read more

It is spacious, they play many sports games at the same, and they have a full bar. For my meal, I had the mini chicken lo mein. It didn't feel mini at all and it was super tasty! I ordered some Chicken breast Pho from here. I've had their other foods and it was good so I assumed their Pho would be at least ok. First my driver called me and asked did I want regular chicken breast. I said yes. he then handed the phone to someone at the restaurant, and she asked did I want chicken with noodles or chicken with rice. I said noodles. my food comes and it's the pho noodles with a small amount of chicken breast, lettuce, carrots and crushed peanuts. no broth, no onions, no cilantro, no jalapennos, no bean sprouts, no basil. Just lettuce and carrots. I am beyond upset. I can see if it just wasn't good. But this was just thrown together as if they didn't know what I ordered or have the ingredients needed.
