My friend and I were at a meet up near this bar on Sunday night and wanted drinks and food at 830 pm. I did a search and found Lucky 13 and I'm so glad I did. The vibe is fantastic. It's reminiscent of a simpler time in Philly when good food , a nice long bar and decent cocktails were served up on a countertop while listening to Erasure ring from the speakers. (I'm partial to Erasure. I saw them in concert. Ha!) The cocktails were strong (She knew how to mix!) and the Manhattan cherry was delicious! The waffle fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside! This is definitely going to be a go-to spot for me now that I know it's there. And our meet up is every second Sunday a month. That's when you'll find us at Lucky's!

I came here during PBW's "Craft Beer Day" last weekend. I had previously tried their food at other events a few different times and always enjoyed it, but had never actually made it to the bar. During my visit, they had a DJ playing retro music and the vibe was mellow overall. Really nice. My friend and I were able to grab two seats at the bar. She ordered nachos (they were good). I ordered two beers during my time there and each time I did, the bartender questioned me on my choices. I assume it was because one of the beers was newly-released (Victory's Sour Monkey) and another was a stout and it's hot outside (I like stouts quite a bit and I don't drink by the seasons). She was really hesitant about the Sour Money -- even giving a sample of it first before a full glass. This was nice since I got more of it for the price and that beer is great. I'd consider returning to Lucky 13 in the future for a casual day and to try more food.

This might be helpful to some. Although I identify as trans female and I am still in transition, this bar welcomed me with open arms. It's not a palace. It's a corner bar. But a nice friendly and cozy little spot with a decent menu for drinks and food until midnight. They play decent music while they also offer music machine for a buck and a few songs. It can be very busy on weekends. And can be slow on weekdays.. as I see. Also in the day, they have seating for regular eating. Polite staff.. I'll be back..

I learned later that this restaurant has been around since the early to mid 1900's. Plenty of parking in a large open lot. The place is very large and has one of the longest bars I've seen. The wood is very dark and you can see the chefs cooking over the hearth. They don't take reservations and won't see you until your entire party is there. One of the things I liked for our party of 10 was they had no problems with seating as they also have many large round tables. For mixed drinks, they make them pretty big and potent. For my martini, they sent back an extra glass. They also had great bleu cheese stuffed olives. We ordered onion rings (8 large to an order) and fried zucchini. The onion ring I had was pretty good. I didn't have the fried zucchini but heard it was also pretty good. Other than the light fare items, all dinners come with their salad bar which has both iceberg lettuce and Caesar Salad along with many fixings as well as cheeses and bread. I had the Baked Seafood Platter which came with scallops, shrimp, Clam Casino (without the shell), Maryland crab cake and a small lobster tail for $49.99. My wife had the baked chicken breast which she said was quite dry. The dining area is quite large and reminds me of the restaurants at a casino. Some in our group said it reminds them of Medieval Times due to the dark wood vibe. While I thought it was a bit pricey, I would still come back and try their signature steaks or prime rib.

The salad bar is classic: Caesar salad, iceberg, blue cheese, bacon bits, etc. Meet family here for a fancy night out, and it was a blast. Service was good. Also, they won't stay you until the entire party is there. We waited at the bar for everyone to arrive, where one cocktail was more than enough for me. You definitely get your money's worth, and you should not drive afterward. (I did not.)

The first thing I did was head straight for my favorite, Cantillon from Belgium. This visit, I tried their Kriek LG, a fruited lambic made by adding sour cherries to a two-year-old aged lambic. All I can say is... WOW! Tart, complex, refreshing, and dangerously drinkable. If beer could win an Academy Award, this one would be giving an acceptance speech. Now, let's talk food. I ordered the Thai Curry Mussels, and they were absolutely outstanding. The broth was packed with flavor, and the mussels were cooked perfectly. They easily rank in the top five mussel dishes I've ever had, and I've done my research! Pro tip: Don't make the rookie mistake of eating all the bread first. Save some for the end so you can soak up every last drop of that incredible curry broth at the bottom of the bowl. Trust me, you'll thank me later. The service is always excellent. John usually takes care of us in the back, and he consistently makes the experience even better with great recommendations and friendly service. In side is cozy and friendly! If you live in Philly and haven't been here yet, what are you waiting for? Great beer, amazing food, and outstanding service--this place checks every box. Just be warned: one visit and you'll be planning your next trip back before you even leave.

Since the bar seats were full, we had the choice to head all the way to the 2nd rear bar. We took the short journey to the secluded small bar that was also full and took refuge at one of the four tables. We took a look at the "Beer Bible" or their version of a drink menu. The bartender informed us that we could not sit at the table unless we were ordering food. At this point we ended our pub crawl and left defeated scratching our heads. This was far from a classy place without a line out the door during the week which made it even more alarming. Interesting experience as our last taste of Philly.

A quick note for first-time visitors: the restaurant has multiple entrances, and I initially arrived at the back door. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful in directing me to the correct entrance. The space has a unique atmosphere. The indoor dining area felt quite dark, but the restaurant appears to have multiple levels, including an upstairs dining area and a bar, which adds to its charm. I started with a cocktail and really enjoyed it. It was fruity, well-balanced, and had just the right amount of alcohol without being overpowering. Based on recommendations, I ordered the burger. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to the hype for me. It could have been cooked better, and overall I wasn't particularly impressed with it. What stood out most was the service. My server was attentive, friendly, and checked in regularly without being intrusive. Overall, The Dandelion offers a pleasant atmosphere, excellent service, and great cocktails. While the burger wasn't a standout for me, I'd be willing to return and try other menu items.
