This hole in the wall was really cute. Super small, love the dog photos all over the wall. I came for a conference and I liked the welcome message they wrote on the wall. I'm not sure how accountable this review will be, as I did take out not stayed. They were having happy hour but it didn't count for me as I was take out I guess. I like my Mac swimming in a rich creamy cheese sauce, this was not what I was looking for, but it was decent. The steak tacos were the best of the dishes we ordered, I just wish they came with a side of salsa. Our server, Logan, was fantastic. Friendly personality, knew the menu well, was quick with our drinks, and checked up on us often. The fries, again, weren't as generous a portion as it seems you get at the restaurant; ours were also wet, limp, and flavorless. I had a lovely time at Good Dog Bar after a work event with the Yelp Philly CM. It was right next to my hotel. I love that it was in a super walkable part of town. This local haunt is divey in the best way possible. It's unassuming and has great food and drinks. I love the dog pictures that line the wall and the cozy interior. Our server was super kind and quick to take our orders. I tried the creamy mac and cheese. I'm a bit picky with my mac and cheese and found myself wishing there was a bit more of a kick to this. It was still super creamy and rich. My coworkers ordered their burgers which looked like the real star of the show here. Those burgers looked incredible and I wish I had ordered that. I asked my daughter who is local for some recommendations and she recommended Good Dog Bar. There are many great restaurants in the center city area, but this one does a great job. At 6:30 on a Monday, the place was quite busy. We were able to get a booth. I didn't see any tables for large groups downstairs. Most of the bar area and tables were full when we started ordering. The beer selection is diverse and prices are reasonable. For my main dish, I had to try to vegan Philly Cheesesteak. You might say that this is quite blasphemous being in Philly and doing vegan. I'm not sure how they did it, but it was very tasty. They also have some awesome fries with it. As far as parking, find a lot or garage or it's better to use mass trans or bike. read more

There were about 7 of us, including some older aunts and uncles. We walked in, got ID by the bouncer (who wasn't friendly) and then we went to sit down at a table on the first floor. We were informed that if we wanted to sit, we ALL had to order our own meal (at midnight on a Thursday). I asked if we could just order a few apps and drinks because it was now MIDNIGHT and no one was hungry. We were told no and that if we wanted to just drink we had to go to the third floor. Begrudgingly, we walked up the stairs to the third floor. On our way, we passed the second floor room with MULTIPLE tables open. We went to sit because our 65 year old aunt wanted to sit. We tried to and the server immediately came over and asked "are you ordering food?" Again, We said we would order some appetizers. She immediately told us that we had to go to the third floor if we weren't ordering a full meal at midnight. This is when my aunts and uncles left and 2 of us stayed behind to have one drink on the third floor. This place is cool, just super unfortunate they have this bizarre rule and wouldn't accommodate us at all.
