I thought that was super nice because I feel like sometimes, at least in the Dells area, it seems like they get tired of us tourists and aren't always as friendly as I feel they should be considering they know they're working in a tourist area. We happened to be sitting next to the lady that does the tours so we thought, awesome, we love seeing old buildings and hearing the history so we signed up! It's $20 per person and about 50-60 mins. It was super cool to see, informative, the lady was friendly, and answered any questions we had. It was pretty amazing to hear that people actually live on the 4th floor, I wasn't expecting that for some reason. After the tour was over she played the large organ for us which was great. We sat down for another beer, listened to the awesome music the bartender was playing and set up our next tour at the Driftless Glen distillery. For a newer hotel, the walls were surprisingly thin, so we heard a lot from neighboring rooms. Cleanliness details were off too: oily fingerprints around the peephole and door edges, an empty shower gel dispenser at check-in, pink mold in the shower, and water leaking from under the shower door into a slippery pool on the floor. And why on earth they do not have bathroom exhaust fan??? Housekeeping only came every three days, so we had to ask a few times for towels and basic cleaning. Most staff were friendly, though the breakfast attendant always seemed to be in a mood. The breakfast setup also leaned on styrofoam, some more eco-friendly options would go a long way. It's a handy spot for visiting the area, and with a little more attention to upkeep it could be a really nice stay.

The French press coffee was nice, until the level got low, and the press and coffee looked greasy: like there was greasy water or dish soap in it. Food and coffee were luke warm the 1st day. A little better after. Fruit was fresh. Saturday night they had a loud fundraiser. I wish they would have done it on a day or time they were closed to the public: but not the end of the world. Doorbell could be heard regularly: including late at night. Walked out of our room to someone listening at our door. Very creepy. Finally got around to hitting this hidden gem. I've golfed just about every other course in the…read morearea - and it was time we checked out Fairfield Hills. Dealing with the staff was easy (via phone or in person) - super friendly folks with all the answers to our questions. They have a nice little practice green, and a great driving range. The whole facility is well kept. The course is in really good shape. Probably the fastest greens I've played all season. We didn't notice many (any?) weeds. The greens were clean, and the immediate rough around greens and fairway were pretty decent. The layout is fairly basic - just par 3s and 4s (for the primary 9 at least - we didn't hit holes 10, 11 or 12). The most "character" you'll find is a picturesque tee shot over a mid-fairway fountain. No dog-legs are bends on this course - all straight shots. Along with straight shots - accuracy is required as most holes are pretty tight. There's not a lot of forgiveness if you're not in the fairway. You'll be in the woods, prairie grass or, on the more "open" holes, punching out from under a tree. I'd consider playing here again. Would I pay rack rate? Probably not when I could find a round at a full par-72 course for a couple more bucks. But getting a deal helps (see various golf deal websites) If I lived close, I'd consider a membership as it's fairly affordable for what you get.

I've seen tons of videos on youtube of this place but it is does not do it justice with how large this place really is. This place took about 4 hours for me to explore. There's indoor and outdoor exhibits. The outdoor portion has historical buildings, which was really fun to explore. They did have a couple of shows going on but I came on a Monday and it was fairly quiet which was very nice. The only show I saw was the Circus they have which was actually VERY good. I was not looking forward to it but it was about an hour and it was so entertaining. I would 100% recommend and would come back. If nothing else, you can enjoy all the old posters and banners like myself.

There are a few different things to see here and I highly recommend spending the day exploring it all. First the main room when you enter will have history on the Ringling Brothers along with a few novelty items. Then next to it are all the animal houses that have wagons, dioramas, and so much more in each of them. They have things from Ringling, but also history on other circus's. Now you cross a bridge to the other side where they have the Hippodrome. In here they have a few small shows in here. They also have actual circus train cars that were used by Ringling. During the summer months they have a circus tent where they do a circus show that's free with the price of admission to the museum. Now the best part is the wagon area. It's a giant building that holds about 50 wagons from every circus around. The history of these wagons is amazing. Overall if you want a day of exploring circus history and want to see the live circus, visit this amazing place.

We have been coming to the Dells for decades and finally did this tour. I wish more people knew about this tour and would go and see how beautiful this place is to help keep it going. $15 for a one hour+ tour for adults that includes an organist who really brought the theater to life. Our volunteer tour guide was a local who was very knowledgeable and engaging. Go see this place. You will not be disappointed! Then walk around the Baraboo shops, etc. We love coming to Baraboo whenever we are in town. If you haven't been to Baraboo on your trip to the Dells, you are missing a gem.

Blue Fancy (BF), unfortunately, did not meet our expectations. I don't think it's necessary to go…read moreinto detail listing all of the things that went poorly, and I, of course, want to give them credit for the things that did go well. Context: we are both from Wisconsin, but are currently living out of state with stressful, time-consuming jobs, which is why we wanted to hire a planner. Our budget was lower than what I'm guessing BF is typically used to working with (less than $60,000), so I'm not sure if that was a factor. We got married in Fond du Lac and most of BF's contacts/experience is in the Milwaukee area. We had a backyard wedding at our family members' homes (a small ceremony at one location and a larger reception at a second location) over a holiday weekend. We hired BF 1.5 years prior to our wedding date leaving plenty of time. Pros: -BF was very helpful with providing structure (a to-do list, timeline) and recommending vendors. -They were insightful when finalizing the rental company contract in terms of backyard wedding details that we would not have thought of. For example, generator needs, water hookups, etc. -Day of set-up. They provided us with 3 team members, which was incredibly helpful with setting up chairs, tables, a few decorations, etc. Cons: -All together, we had a total of 3 planners. Our first planner quit and our second planner had to take a step back due to a serious personal matter. This resulted in poor communication, confusion, and stress. It was often unclear who was taking lead on what and we felt the team did not have the bandwidth to actually manage our wedding. We constantly felt like we had to double-check everything and take care of things ourselves because it was unclear who was doing what and we did not want things to fall through the cracks. Despite this, things did fall through the cracks. For example, we did not finalize our catering contract until 1 month prior to the wedding, which ended up being $8,000 more than we originally agreed because we had no other choice. Additionally, the band that BF recommended pulled out 6 weeks prior our wedding. This was not their fault and they found a replacement within one week, but this was still stressful . -They seemed to take a 'copy and paste' approach as in they just replicated what they did for previous weddings instead of really listening to what was truly important to us. More of a you fit us instead of we fit you. For example, although they provided recommendations for vendors, we ended up having to find some on our own because their recommendations did not align with our preferences/budget. Examples: photographer, videographer, and hair & make-up team. When we mentioned wanting a videographer within a certain budget, we were told this was unrealistic and received no help. We did find a videographer within our budget and he did a great job! So happy we found him. -Poor attention to detail. This was pretty concerning and prevalent throughout the process. A couple of examples: (1) they neglected trash removal and only had solutions for the Milwaukee area when we brought it to their attention. We ended up coming up with a creative solution on our own; (2) at the rehearsal dinner, the lead planner did not know the location of where to tell the hair and make-up team to go the following morning (day of). In sum, we're hoping our experience was abnormal. Nonetheless, we never received an apology, acknowledgment, or a thank you for using their service or any sort of contact after the wedding, which we find unprofessional. We were extremely sympathetic to the series of events that were out of their control, but ultimately, the way it was handled was subpar and the planning process/day of execution was stressful. We wish them the best and hope things are improving.

Out of all of the money we spent on this wedding, the one thing that honestly was the most worth it was hiring Jan/Blue fancy as our full service planner. ..We were a covid wedding (8.8.20) that had to be postponed to this year (8.21.21h and Jan took SUCH good care of us (mostly me, who had questions and meltdowns frequently) through it all. She did all of the heavy lifting with the vendors, came with me to my rentals and florals appointment for support, texted and called me whenever I needed her for advice or a question, reminded us of payments and even scheduled appts for us with our vendors and decorated/helped clean up our wedding amazingly with her team day of! Jan was just a great person to have around during this past crazy year and a half and I'm so thankful to have had her as our planner. She made me feel so comfortable right from the start and I felt like she was a friend. If you're on the fence about getting a planner and you're in WI, hire blue fancy and ask for Jan!!
