In KC and went to dinner tonight at Baramee. Over all it's very solid Thai food. Most dishes were great and couple were ok. We ordered many things to try it all. I love Thai food and have been to Thailand several times. Tonight I tried 2 different larbs. Shrimp and pork. Shrimp was more flavorful than the pork. Seemed like it was missing the toasted rice powder. But still pretty good. The crispy garlic shrimp were delicious! The sauce and the chicken wings was also very good! We had a terrible experience here and will absolutely not be back. We started with the fresh rolls, which were completely flavorless--zero traditional herbs, packed with cheap iceberg lettuce filler, and barely a tiny shred of chicken. When we politely let the staff know we didn't like them, instead of trying to fix it, the staff became incredibly hostile. They literally refused to let us order anything else, insultingly telling us that we "probably have never had Asian food before" and wouldn't like anything else on their menu. To top it off, we looked over at the table next to us and their Pad Thai was a neon bright orange color (a classic sign of a cheap, ketchup-based shortcut instead of real tamarind). If you want authentic food and staff who treat you with basic respect, go somewhere else. Insulting your customers' palates to cover up lazy cooking is pathetic business. read more

Delicious food. Pleasant, fast service. Lots of genuine smiles. Ambiance is nice. But Watch out for: Thai Iced Tea - yuck chalky fake creamer overloaded with sugar and orange food coloring. The cushions on the benches are visibly dirty. I fantasized snatching them all up, putting them in the washing machine, (twice!)and bring them back all nice and double clean. I've been to Baramee a few times and I like the convenient location in the crossroads. I've always ordered online and haven't had any real issues. I have noticed that they never give you any utensils or napkins or anything like that. In fact, the day prior to my most recent visit, a friend had brought that up regarding their most recent visit. I wasn't going home so I checked my bag before leaving and grabbed my own utensils and napkins from the bar. I had to go around an individual who was eating there so it was a little awkward. I'm sure they keep more of their attention on the patrons dining in and they're always busy, but it would improve the experience if they included those items automatically. I ordered a couple of appetizers but I ended up not really being impressed by either. I tried the crab Rangoon and it was fine. They're on the smaller side and the filling is a little lacking. I also tried the Baramee Thai Rolls: crabmeat, cream cheese, cucumber, green leaf lettuce, bean sprouts, carrots, in a rice paper wrap. I have two complaints-the first being the roll itself. Two of the three rolls weren't even wrapped, just kinda folded over so everything fell out. The second is that a majority of the roll was lettuce-iceberg, not green leaf. Like over 75% was just lettuce. Definitely disappointing and I wouldn't get again. I ordered the chicken pad se ew for an entree. The size is decent, it could definitely make two meals. The chicken was good, I liked the mushrooms and broccoli, and the noodles were well cooked. The sauce was a little bit greasy but it was good. I went with a medium heat and it was a little too weak for me. Next time I'll go hot. My boyfriend liked his chicken pad Thai. He got the hot level and I liked the spice on it. I'll definitely stop in the next time I want a noodle fix. read more

Skip the fresh spring rolls they lacked flavor. Crispy ones were by far so much better. Overall solid entrees!! I was a little disappointed in this place. The service seemed rushed like they wanted us out of there fast. I had the Pad Thai with chicken and it was so unimpressive. The chicken was so dry as to be difficult to swallow. There was no complexity to it. It had a strand of green onions that was the only vegetable in it. We had a large party of 9 and were seated quickly on a Friday night just after 6 pm. We walked from The Loews Hotel and it was a short walk. The food was plated beautifully and was served piping hot and delicious. The servers were kind and fast and even took great group photos for us and honored separate checks too. The portions were big so most everyone took food back to the hotel to finish later. They also had outdoor seating streetside with pretty flower boxes. The room temperature was quite warm (no fans) as we were seated close to the open kitchen counter on a very hot day. Guests in shorts were a lot more comfortable than those in suit jackets and slacks. I would come back again as it is rare to find restaurants with high quality meals, great fast service, and reasonable prices. read more

The four stars is for the Padang Curry with tofu and vegetables. I ordered the medium. It was rich, creamy, and savory-sweet. The vegetables, especially the carrots, were nicely done. We also ordered Pad Thai-very middle of the road. The tofu in the tofu and chili sauce appetizer was too heavily breaded for my taste. (Lightest tofu-try Brookside Sushi.) This place was out of this world good. We stopped in on a Saturday evening and were seated quickly, within ten minutes. The dining room is a bit cramped, but we were seated at a rather larger table so we didn't mind. The food was absolutely incredible. I cannot rave about it enough. I asked for hot sauce and the waitress brought me a variety of spicy chiles, chili sauce, and chili powder. So spicy and it was great. For the appetizer, we split the Baramee Thai platter, which came with 2 crab rangoons, 2 soft spring rolls and 2 crispy spring rolls. It came with a peanut sauce and a sweet chili sauce, and everything was so great tbh. Then, we got the Pad Thai with shrimp was one of the best pad Thais I have ever had. I would 100% order this again. The Pad Ka Prao was fine; I didn't love that the "beef" was just ground beef I don't know why but I was expecting steak I think. I'm a big fan. Living in midtown, this is my preferred location for Thai food. I always come for lunch. It's a smaller spot and I've been when there's a wait. They really work hard to turn tables, so if there is a wait it won't be for long. With that said, the service is quick. I like to order Panang Curry in the winter for a nice warming meal. Everything else I've had is also enjoyable - Yellow Curry, Pad Thai, Crab Rangoon. Some of the meals are pricier, but the portions are considerably big and provide value for what you pay. read more

It's my go-to for my favorite shrimp pad Thai (medium spice level) but I haven't left my comfort zone to try something new off their menu until today! I ordered the Pad Key Maw with chicken, along with a half order of Crab Rangoon. It was so delightful! I got medium spice level on this as well, and the spice level was very nice. I could even step it up a notch next time. You really get the basil flavor coming through and the peppers and broccoli and very well-cooked. I would personally like the rangoons with a bit more filling but that's personal preference. All in all very delicious! I hope I get the chance to eat in-house soon! read more

I went on a Friday night before a show at the Midland. I was greeted quickly at the door by a friendly server. I was waiting on two friends so I ordered the appetizer platter. The crispy and spring rolls were both delicious. The crab rangoon had the right amount of filling. I ordered the massaman with a mild spice level. The spice level was perfect. The curry had a great consistency and the right amount of peanuts. The staff kept our drinks filled and checked in on us often. We had some soft spring rolls, some chicken skewers, and a lovely salad that was just the right amount of spice for us. The food was decent overall, but everything was a bit too salty for our taste. The restaurant does get pretty busy during lunch hours, which is understandable, but we felt rushed. We hadn't even been seated for 40 minutes when the waiter brought the check and started clearing the table. Not a terrible experience, but probably wouldn't come back during peak hours. read more

Even more delicious when you dine in! This time around, ordered the crispy spring rolls which were so crunchy, and fresh. The Pad Thai medium spice, and the Thai Cashew with chicken in medium spice. First off, portions are huge and we ended up with plenty to take home (although wish we got an extra order of the spring rolls to go - yum!). Medium spice has the perfect amount of kick. I rarely leave bad reviews, but this was a disappointing experience. The food was ok (not great). They were not busy, but seemed to be short staffed. The music was way too loud which interfered with relaxation and conversation. They put us (2 people) at a small unlevel table with 'no" utensils or napkins. It took too long to take our order. When they took our order, we ordered drinks from the bar. They took 1of our food orders and then started to walk off, so we had to remind them we both wanted to order. One plate of food came out...still no bar drinks as ordered OR utensils. Second plate came out....had to ask for utensils again... Decided to cancel the bar drinks since we really wanting to have them prior to dinner. We love Thai food, but the food here was average. The prices were higher than most Thai restaurants, but looking at the pictures and prior reviews we thought it was going to be worth it especially since we were celebrating something.
