Second time eating here since the change over ownership and I gotta say, I'm loving it! So bright and welcoming. Staff is super friendly. Much cleaner than it previously appeared. Food is fabulous. Amazing appetizers. Thai tea is the bomb. All the food we have tried here has been delicious. This could easily slide right on in to a favorite of ours, especially because it's in our area. Yay!

Checked this place out recently since it's close to home. The variety of Asian food options is great. They offer Thai food, Japanese, Sushi, and even Pho. I definitely recommend sticking with the hot foods though. We ordered the Thai spicy sausage, Grapow fried rice, and crazy plate sashimi. The sausage was tasty and had a nice lemongrass flavor and we like the fried rice and the addition of fried egg on top. The sashimi plate however was underwhelming especially for 54 dollars. You will not get full off of this and the fish did not seem fresh. The albacore was very dry and the octopus was very rubbery and looked a bit discolored. We ate all of it but was definitely scared with every bite. Not sure if it wasn't fresh because it was late in the day or what but not something we will order again.

A new place in the Northland. They have a lot on their menu and I like the dishes we ordered except the sushi platter. It wasn't as fresh as I would have like it. The gra pow was tasty and the lao sausage was okay. Their service were friendly though. Kinda pricey but it was nice to try it.

Fantastic New Restaurant, Flavorful Food, Delightful Staff! After hearing about the new ownership, we wanted to try out this new Northland Gem. The flavors are delicious and we mixed up our usual order. We started with a sushi roll and the Beef Skewer as appetizers. Our server said the Chrysanthemum Hot Tea was her favorite, and it's now my favorite too! For entrees, we ordered the Red Duck Curry, Boat Noodle Soup ( with Beef ), and Krapow Moo Krab ( pork belly, thai basil, bell peppers, topped with an egg ). Everything was delicious! The ambience is upscale casual. Every table covered ( floral vinyl ) and the decor is tasteful without being over the top. For dessert we shared the Roti woth Taro Iced Cream.

Recommended by cousins who stopped by here last month when they were in KC. We stopped, had lunch and the food was so so so good, we will be recommending this place to everyone we know. We were here for lunch so we stuck with the Thai food - great flavors, and super friendly service. A new staple whenever we come into town.

    Current menu for lunch special.

Service was great, menu has a lot to choose from, and food came out hot fresh. I would highly recommend to others to try. Will be back to try the dinner menu. Sushi part of the menu looks amazing.

Great food. Good menu. Definitely the best Thai north of the river. A little pricey but worth it.

A sushi restaurant that has its own extensive vegan menu??…read more It sounds weird, but Blue Sushi does it and does it right! Sushi is more than the fish; it's the rice, it's the ingredients, and its the combination of flavor and texture wrapped up in a small bite-sized piece. I'm used to (and love) my avocado rolls, but it's nice to get some proper creative vegan rolls! Here, they have an extensive menu full of creative vegan rolls, some made with vegan proteins such as salmon and tuna! Even better, they do an incredible happy hour where many of the vegan rolls are included! I went here twice during my trip. I tried these rolls: Vegan Philadelphia: My favorite, as it is a simple roll I rarely get to enjoy as a vegan. Vegan cream cheese and vegan salmon put together to get that nostalgic creamy flavor. Vegan Kaluna Crunch: Delicious texture combining crunchy and smooth. Shiitake to me: Umami burst of flavor from the mushrooms Vegan Hot Pepper: My least favorite of the 4 I've tried, but still creative and has a spicy kick! I also had their miso soup and sake cocktails. I sat at the bar and had a great time. It was always busy, so I recommend reservations if you want a table!

Reasonably priced except for their nigiri and miso soup (would go elsewhere for this). We got the tatami maki and salmon nigiri. The salmon had a subtle spice with it and the basil with the eel sauce came together nicely. I can't remember what maki roll my friend got but it was pretty spicy! It was all pretty yummy though. Service for food was a little slow but they were friendly and made sure to keep our waters filled. A solid place for sushi. Nice, nightlife ambiance fitting of the Power Light District. Loved staring at their lanterns.

They absolutely need to get a larger place, especially when they are constantly busy. It was a weekday night when I went, and it was just as busy on times I've been during the weekend. Very cute place, but not great with the amount of clientele. Staff was great and very attentive. I had two whiskey cocktails and they were nice. I enjoy the fact that they have inexpensive Japanese whiskey. I've been expanding my palette, and Toro and Uni are some of my favorite pieces.. but I must say, I was very underwhelmed with their selection. Toro wasn't bad, but the Uni was so... salty. Not how I've had it before. The roll was just okay. I was very impressed with my chicken noodle dish! That was probably my favorite part of my meal.

Every menu item feels very intentional and well executed. The offerings on the cocktail menu are fabulous. Both the ube and lychee cocktails are delicious. My partner and his mom both had a sake flight, each offering was delicious and different in offering. If you like sake you will definitely find one you like with this flight! They both ended up liking a yuzu sake and split a bottle, the finish was sweet, crisp and perfect for the Kansas City heat. I started with an espresso martini, the coffee flavor was strong and sweet and I was a fan! During our meal I opted for a martini corner dirty vodka martini and as a dirty martini enthusiast I was very pleased and will continue to recommend! I finished off with a matcha martini that was sweet, creamy and smooth and paired perfectly with our tempura banana! Speaking of food, the star of the show, we genuinely had only good bites here as usual. We sat at the bar on the corner, it was a nice seat that captured the energy of the restaurant, busy but somehow tranquil. Our bartender was great as well as all the staff behind the bar and host stand! I especially appreciate the patience of our bartender, we came and ordered many rounds of small plates, (you should do the same!) and he was nothing but enthusiastic and helpful. To start we had some furikake fries and shishito peppers. There are a lot of exciting and multilayed dishes on the menu, I think these two humble sides though really pack a punch and show that everything on the menu brings it's A game. From there the food ordering escalated as everyone in my group was over the top excited. The stand outs for me were, the dry aged salmon nigiri, the toro hand roll, the crab apple roll and my group was especially blown away by the scallops and are still talking about them a week later! Noka is in my opinion, really bringing a new level of dining to Kansas City. I'm not over stating it to say it is one of a kind in this city and everyone should try to get in.

We were excited to try the new sushi and seafood options from the menu, as well as retrying some of our old favorites. When we walked in, we noticed there are a lot more tables, making the space a bit louder than our precious visits. That's great, though, that the place is packed! We also were a bit disappointed with the flavors of the food and drinks. Our first visit was amazing a few years ago, and this visit, even the things we remembered loving were a bit worse. The sushi and sashimi were okay, but also seemed less flavorful than expected. While we were excited to come back, the visit left us thinking that Noka may not be on our places to visit for a bit.
