    Shrimp Pad See Ew

Our group of 20 stumbled upon Phikul Thai Bistro after finding another nearby spot closed, and what a lucky discovery! With no advance warning, they graciously accommodated all of us, even moving tables so most of the group could sit together. Despite being lightly staffed with only one server, the team kept things moving smoothly -- food came out quickly, hot, and flavorful. I ordered the crab rangoon and shrimp pad see ew; both arrived fast and were absolutely delicious. It's rare to find a place that can handle a large, spontaneous crowd with such grace and still deliver authentic, tasty food. Phikul made our evening in Kansas City memorable -- definitely worth a visit whether you're in a big group or just stopping by for a casual meal.

I stopped by Phikul Thai Bistro late on a Saturday night, and I'm sooo glad I did. It looks more like a takeout place, but they do have a nice dine-in area too. The food there is full of flavor!!! This spot is right across from Blue Nile, near the main entrance to River Market, just behind the KC streetcar stop. I ordered the chicken tom kha soup, cashew chicken veggie stir fry. The soup was okay, but the cashew chicken stir fry was the real star, so so good that I'm giving this place 5 stars just for that dish!!!!! Unfortunately, my phone didn't save the photo of it, so all I have is the soup pot picture. But seriously, go try that stir fry! The place otherwise was clean, and the server was really sweet. If you love a good cashew chicken stir fry, this place is a must-visit.

Sister restaurant to Baramee Thai in Crossroads, Phikul Thai is a delicious Thai restaurant in the perfect location to fuel you on a weekend adventure in City Market. The restaurant isn't huge but it can get bustling on the weekends. A little dark and romantic inside. The service is awesome -- the employees are so kind and helpful. They do great take out. Order online and pick up your order at the counter in the back in front of the kitchen. The food is delicious! I loved the Pad See Ew. The portions are so generous. The mango sticky rice is also a great treat for the end of the meal. The menu is large so there's truly something for everyone! Limited to street and paid lots for parking, so it's a good idea to make a day of it and incorporate Phikul Thai into other City Market plans.

I recently visited Phikul Thai Bistro on a Saturday around lunch time. With the buzzing river market, I was surprised by its quiet, calm interior. I was quickly greeted and sat at a comfortable booth table, and given ice water. The woman taking my order was so sweet and made polite conversation with when checking on me throughout my meal and when i went up to the counter to pay. A menu was provided and I was given ample time to browse it and choose my meal. I went with the red curry, medium spice. It had a wonderful kick to it. I was really happy with the portion and fresh white rice on the side. The curry had so much chicken and a great balance of veggies too. The meal was slightly pricey for lunch but worth every penny, and in line with similar thai places nearby . I will be back.

I could've swore I reviewed them before, guess not. They definitely deserve some love. This is our new favorite Thai restaurant. Fresh, tasty, and delicious. The service is usually simple with only one waiter on the floor, but they always do a great job keeping up. Bubble teas are super yummy! The food is fantastic. Restaurant is in a wonderful location at the Rivermarket. Can be a little confusing to tell if it's open or not with the double doors. This is a gem!

Great service! Great location in River Market! And good food! I ordered the yellow curry with a mild amount of heat but I definitely could have went more spicy! I wish the pork in the curry was a bit more seasoned but everything was pretty good!

In Kansas city and was craving Thai food. Found Phikul close to my hotel. Me and work buddy got sat right away. I ordered the crying tiger beef and the cucumber salad. Now the salad could have used some help. It was cucumbers, tomatoes and little shredded cabbage and peanuts. Needed maybe some cilantro, Thai basil ? I asked for Thai hot but ended up having to add more Thai chilies to it. The crying beef was delicious! Just how I wanted it. Over all a pretty good meal. I do wish our server would have come back and refilled my ice tea at some point but never did. Solid 4 stars

A nice thai restaurant by the river market. Service was very good. The people was nice and attentive. We order crying tiger (beef salad) , papaya salad thai style, (I should've order lao style) chicken drunken noodles and mango sticky rice for dessert. Food was fast and hot. They wasn't busy at the time, which was fine with me, it almost the start of dinner time. I like the beef salad, the dipping sauce was very good. My drunken noodle was good, I added some hot spices and it was super yummy. Lastly the dessert was the best mango was so sweet and coconut duace was thick and creamy with the warm sweet sticky rice. Must give a try if u around the area.

Always love being able to quickly order Chicken Red Curry carryout. Service is friendly and food comes up quick. Don't sleep on the Boba tea!

Crab rangoons! I'm a fiend for them and absolutely had to try the ones at Phikul Thai Bistro. The pieces were smaller than the average crab rangoon, but they packed a punch of crispy and creamy goodness. The sauce accompanying it had a less viscous texture than what I'm used to, and accidental dripping was unfortunately common. Honeydew boba! I didn't expect it to come out in a semi-fancy glass, rather than the typical plastic to-go cup. The initial sip through the straw delivered a quite warm tea, possibly from the freshly cooked boba? The rest of it was cold. I couldn't really tell there was boba from looking at it, and I would guess maybe only 8-10 boba balls were in there. While I liked the glass detail, there was another detail that raised an eyebrow from me. It wasn't going to slice any arteries, but the rim was chipped. Though, with boba I drink with the straw anyway. It's still important to be mindful of potentially harmful glass. Yellow Curry Fried Rice! With a choice of shrimp for my protein, this was quite yummy. I went with a medium spicy level, and the medium delivered. Very accurate. The portion size was quite large, and I took some home with me. The vegetables felt more like decoration, and I do wish there was more of the dish dedicated to them. Sweet Sticky Mango Rice! This dessert is quickly rising among my favorites, and even though the previous orders left me quite stuffed...second stomach for dessert! The ratio of mango to rice was 1:1, and the coconut cream had the perfect level of sweetness. I'd go to any Thai place for this dessert alone! I was there during the lunch hour on a Tuesday, so the place felt very quiet, calm, and the service was fast and kind.

We love this place! The servers are always very friendly and we are always seated immediately. It is clean and quiet and the food is delicious. Our favorites include the Thai wings or spring rolls as appetizers and panang curry or Pad Kee Mao for entrees. I also get the red curry sometimes--all are always delicious!

    Mild beef red curry ($17.99).

Service was great, atmosphere was nice--they don't have TVs which I appreciate-- but prices were a little on the higher side. Definitely a date night sort of Thai restaurant. Although their other entree options sounded really good, I was just craving rice, rice, rice. I tried the thai fried rice (mild, with chicken-- $15.99). The mild is basically low/no spice. The fried rice was good, but nothing special. I don't think I'd order it again. The red curry (medium, with beef-- $17.99) was delicious. I'm pretty weak to spice and the medium was a good level of heat for me. I'd definitely recommend this. It is downtown near city market, so it's not a total surprise, but the prices are pretty high. I've never seen a cup/bowl of tom yum soup priced at $10.99 just for either chicken, pork, or tofu (shrimp is $13.99). Their tom yum sounds like it'd be good, but I'll have to try it when someone else orders it before I order even a pot of my own (which starts at $15.99).

I went with a group of 6 from work. I find it's harder to concentrate and make too many mental notes when you are with a larger group but you do get more opinions. Everyone was very happy. Our server was fantastic! On top of everything! I wish I knew their name but too much was going on and I missed it. We started with a sampler as an appetizer. I liked everything except the veggie dumplings. I usually like veggie but there was some strong flavor to these I did not like. Everyone at the table felt the same. Still very good though. I got the lunch Singapore Chicken Noodles. I wasn't familiar with how they handled the heat level so I went with mild, a 1 to be safe. I'd definitely go up to a 2. It was very good otherwise but needed a little flavor. Other dishes at the table were drunken noodles, massaman curry, and more. Everyone liked their meal. I would definitely go back. I'd like to try their curry and some other menu items. I particularly like the spring rolls. I'd recommend them for your appetizer.

Unfortunately, the food was a huge disappointment. After work, a coworker and I decided to grab lunch because I was craving Thai food--specifically yellow curry, which is one of my absolute favorite dishes. Since I'm new to the Kansas City area, I've been trying different local restaurants, so we decided to give Lulu's Thai a chance. I ordered the yellow curry, and my coworker ordered the Pad Thai. Sadly, my yellow curry was the worst I've ever had. It was extremely bland and lacked the rich, creamy flavor that yellow curry is known for. I had also ordered a second yellow curry to go for my daughter, but after tasting mine, I immediately asked them to cancel it because I knew she wouldn't enjoy it either. Instead, I ordered pork dumplings to take home since those are another one of her favorite foods. Unfortunately, those were just as disappointing. She took one bite and said they were the worst dumplings she'd ever had. I spoke with our server about my meal, and after leaving the restaurant I called and left a voicemail for a manager. I wasn't calling just to complain--I genuinely wanted to discuss my experience, see if a refund was possible, and I was even willing to come back and give another dish a try if they wanted the opportunity to make it right. Unfortunately, no one ever returned my call. The lack of follow-up was just as disappointing as the food. Good customer service doesn't end when a customer walks out the door, and I expected at least a return phone call. Based on this experience, I won't be returning. I really wanted to love this place, but between the disappointing food and the lack of response from management, I just can't recommend it.
