Got a noodle dish with chicken and it was so good! Service was good too, but I came when it was pretty empty so hard to say how it would be normally. The restaurant itself has nice ambiance too. Reasonable prices too! Would definitely recommend!

The food was good but the heat temperature (1-5) was not made correctly. Not hot enough but okay. It took awhile to get out food but the server was friendly. The man that took our order but didn't serve us. I did have to get up and ask for our check and box for our leftovers. The dining area is in a big room with many tables.

I'm gonna be honest. This was not on my list of spots to check out, but it was a post-museum lunch. It was quieter than I expected for a Saturday around 1 p.m., but that worked out in our favor, as the service was quick, and so was the preparation of the entrees. I'm going to guess by the decor that this place is busier for dinner time since it has a moodier, intimate vibe. I have my go-to dishes for when I dine at a Thai restaurant. It's either the laab, pad see ew, or a curry. The server was helpful with our questions, but this time, I rolled the dice on the house specialty menu with the grapow, and it did not disappoint. My dining partner asked what I had ordered as soon as it arrived at the table. How could you not? A fried egg and a rangoon garnish! Then, later, I confirmed that I ordered the better meal of the two of us after I let them try a bit. Go ahead, be adventurous. The food here might surprise you.

Thoroughly enjoyed my time and food here at Sawadesi Thai Cuisine. It's situated right on the busy 119th Street, and I think it has a good center point for Overland Park, Olathe, and Lenexa. For me the ambience - 5/5, food quality - 5/5, cleanliness - 5/5, service - 5/5, and I definitely think this restaurant deserves way more than the current Yelp rating. As soon as I entered the restaurant, I was greeted with beautiful Christmas decorations adding fun holiday touch and a very clean space with good ambience. There was a TV playing down the hall showing beautiful visuals of Thailand and nice soothing music in the background. We were seated by a very sweet staff member, and for our appetizers - we just ordered two big bowls of Tom Kha soup - one with shrimp and another with chicken. For our main course, we shared a lemongrass stir fry which had pork, chicken, beef, shrimp, and lots of veggies. And for the dessert, we got the mango sticky rice topped with sweet coconut milk. The soups came in a huge portion and were really tasty. I just hope they could cut the chicken pieces in the chicken Tom Kha soup a little smaller since they were huge, but the shrimp were perfect. The stir fry tasted unique with the lemongrass, and all the meats were cooked well, and I really enjoyed it. Dessert - I felt the mango sticky rice pudding was a bit too sweet for me, but overall a great dish. We arrived around 5 PM and then saw that they were serving dinner on Saturday for the whole day. The staff also said that they would be open on Christmas Day and New Year's - incase we don't feel like cooking home and want to have delicious food :) After we were seated, I saw a lot of crowd coming in and one of the common dishes I observed them ordering were the spicy crab rangoons!! They are definitely on my must try list from here. I also saw that they had a few more specials running in December and saw that it includes a duck corn and bacon dumplings- leckerrr. Love that the pricing is better than the Thai restaurants around, giving you an upscale experience with great food for a manageable price. Parking isn't an issue because there is plenty available. I will be back to try more dishes and recommend everyone to visit and show them some love.

Great food. We've been here a couple times now and once again everything was delicious. Staff is really nice and always helpful. Friday night 6pm and it's not busy so that's a plus for me. Many people came in for carry out pick up and there was always 4 or 5 tables full but it's not loud. We will keep coming back.

What a delightful atmosphere. We were greated and seated promptly. Our server was pleasant and efficient. The food was flavorful and the heat was just right. I ordered Beef Gaprow to compare with the same dish from another Thai restaurant. It was delicious and a little wetter than the other Gaprow, which I enjoyed as the extra moisture comlemented the rice. Definitely a place worth returning to.

Great service from the moment we arrived. The ambiance was typical and quiet. Came in on a weekday for dinner and not very busy. We started with the chicken satay and it was delicious with peanut sauce. We also had the Tom Yum soup and it was good but not great. It didn't come with fire to keep it hot and didn't have the tang that I crave. Overall it was good Thai food but not the best I've ever had.

Stopped in here for a late dinner with some friends, cute little dining area. There is a bar connected by the front door, did look limited on alcohol choices. The waitress was quick to the table and had suggestions for those that didn't have their minds made up. Shortly after ordering we received the Spicy Rangoon, which had just enough heat to taste it. I ordered the Sam Rod entrée with beef, there was a lot of food. This will be added to my list of Thai places in the area.

This review is for late lunch for two at the bar on a weekday in mid-May. service: Waitress was super friendly and very accommodating. She was helpful with menu and right there if we needed anything. bar: Pretty good selection of beer, cocktails, and wine. I drank a Boulevard Pale Ale ($5.50 as of 05/2025). food: We split three appetizers: Soft Spring Rolls were excellent and it's a generous amount ($8.00), Chicken Laab was great and not too spicy ($11), and the Tiger Cry Beef was very good and the sauce is extremely spicy, but great ($10). details: Restaurant reasonably large with many booths and tables. Lots of surface parking right outside. Quiet, muted, and relaxing interior.

Finally tried this Thai spot. My friends have been recommending it since I moved here 6 months ago. They were right. It's delicious! So many yummy choices but I went with the Curry Flight. I love to taste different flavors so give me a variety option like a flight and I'm in! The only down side is that they pick the curries and out of about 6 or 7 choices, you get red, yellow, and Panang. Delicious but I really wanted to try their green, Massuman, and Jungle curry as my 3 selections. I'll have to try each one of those separately. I still recommend it and all 3 of those curries were tasty. My partner got the Tamarind Chicken and other dishes at the table like Tom Ka soup, coconut shrimp, and Pad Thai were all delicious! Especially the Tom Ka. One of the best I've tasted. I'll be having that again! It was busy with a few larger parties and only a couple of servers so a bit slow at times but they hustled and got us what we needed! It was my friend's bday and even though they don't do anything for birthdays, our server stopped by to lead us all in singing happy birthday! Very, very nice people working there! The restaurant is really clean and elegant with ample seating and warm light. They are open on Christmas Day, so I may be back then since I can only take so much holiday food! I have had a few bad experiences with Thai food over the last few years and had moved more toward other styles of food but Sawasdee has restored my faith in Thai! I'm looking forward to my next visit!

Went back and had the egg rolls and the drunken noodles with tofu... Both seriously delicious. There are no duds at this place!

We were looking to try a new restaurant for our Saturday outing and decided on Bamboo Penny's. From the moment we walked in, it was clear that a lot of effort went into making the dining room and bar area fun, attractive, and inviting. Although we were being seated at a two-top, we noticed the bar was wide open and decided to dine there instead. Great choice. The bartenders were engaging, attentive, and very helpful in walking us through the menu. We started with Penny's Combo Fresh Spring Rolls, Thai Spicy Sausage, Penny's Rangoon, and Crispy Egg Rolls. This was a great way to sample several appetizers, and everything was delicious. My partner ordered the Salmon Panang Curry and really enjoyed it. The salmon was cooked just right, the curry had great flavor, and the broccoli paired nicely with the dish. I went with the Tiger Cry Steak, which was a little more hit-and-miss. The Tiger Cry sauce brought plenty of heat along with some really interesting flavors. The glazed carrots were excellent, perfectly glazed with just the right tenderness. Unfortunately, the mashed potatoes were over-whipped, giving them a gummy texture. The biggest disappointment was the steak itself. The quality wasn't what I expected, the steak appeared to be a few ounces short of the advertised 12 ounces, and on its own it lacked seasoning and flavor. The intramuscular fat was also quite chewy, making portions of the steak difficult to cut and eat. That said, one disappointing entrée wouldn't keep me from returning. We really enjoyed the atmosphere, service, appetizers, and Salmon Panang Curry. Bamboo Penny's has plenty on the menu I'd like to come back and try....I'll probably just stick with the non-beef options next time. I think this lands around a 4-star review: clearly a good overall experience with one legitimate miss.
