We visited Barbarossa while on a day trip with a big group in Capri. The food was pretty good, and the service was great. I had their Spaghetti with Bolognese sauce and thought it was good. Also for dessert, they brought a dish which I didn't know the name, and I thought it was excellent (picture attached). They were even able to make a pizza with no cheese for my wife, and they didn't even get mad at her for asking for such a dish.

Came to Capri with tour group. It's probably because the group was so large that food had to be prepared quickly. I have to say that I am not a fan of mussels but the seafood spaghetti was surprisingly good.

This was the second time here for Christa and the first time for me. When she suggested we eat here, I checked for a review on Yelp and saw 1-star, but I trusted her opinion so off we went. It was early in the day so we were able to get a good table right next to the window looking down on the piazza. The staff was very friendly and spoke good English. We had a couple draft beer with ravioli and capricciosa pizza. The pizza came in approx 5 minutes and the ravioli soon after. Both were well prepared and tasty. We almost stayed for another beer to enjoy the weather and people watch, but we got going with our sightseeing. The bill was €36, and when I left 40 on the table, they return 5 just to be convenient and not worry about the €1 difference. Not what you would expect from a place that caters primarily to tourists. Not sure why the previous reviewer had such a bad time, but we will recommend this place to others for it's convenient location, very good service, good food and that fact that it does NOT behave like a typical tourist trap. Note: if you want to find the other review, it comes up as under Italian, but is actually written in English.

Our tour guide recommended the place so yes it is a tourist trap...but so is the whole island. That being said, it was overall pretty good. Good for groups, quick to be seated, good vegetable pizza, my friends enjoyed their pasta with oysters. Tourist prices but not terrible

On the other hand, if you come here with the intention of experiencing a real Italian dinner with someone you love, you really can't beat the wine selection, ambiance, meal options, service and so on. We started with the Tuna Tartar and a dozen oysters, paired with a bottle of white wine. We had the lemon spaghetti, lamb shanks, dessert bar and limoncello. Everything was excellent. Our server was also a great guy who had been dating a girl from Los Angeles, which made for fun conversation. The hostesses took photos of us and the tables next to us were also great people having the time of their lives. Highly recommend if you know what you are doing. If not there are plenty of tourist traps at the marina to choose from.

The tableware is so beautiful as well. I had the lemon chicken and lemon pasta (Pasta Al Limone) and both not only tasted delicious but smelled delightful. The bathrooms are truly luxurious. Service is excellent and there is always someone available to serve and assist you. The entire experience was great from start to finish. The only place you need to dine at in Capri, I don't know if there is any other place that could top this experience.

We even saw him take a bite of the communal Parmesan cheese with the spoon from the dish (and the mother returned it to the bowl) which prompted us to not use the Parmesan. The pizzas were hot and fresh, we ordered the Davola and salsiccia e friarielii. Both were delicious but in the end, we love a tomato based pizza the best and should not have wavered. A glass of house wine was surprisingly reasonable at just 5 euro and was a standardly nice, juicy, easy to drink red. The bread was incredibly delicious. The smokiness from the wood oven made it possibly the most delicious bread I can remember eating. No butter. No olive oil. Just delicious. We would have loved to have tried a few of the pasta dishes that looked delicious, so our recommendation for a couple is to get a pizza and a pasta and share them. The salads also looked fresh and large. As many places in Italy, there a fee to sit at the restaurant and be served. 8 euro for both of us. The next day when waiting for our ferry ride, we popped into a pizzeria and grabbed another pizza diavola to go...what a let down. The pizza at buca di bacco was within a euro or two in price and 100% better. If you haven't had a good pizza in Italy and find yourself in Capri, at least grab one or two of their pizzas to go and eat them near the ocean overlook. Don't forget the chili flakes You will be quite content.
