Went on a chilly Thursday afternoon and it was nice and quiet, which made for a great meal. I ordered the Val Kilmer platter, and honestly, this place blew me away. For the last ten years, I feel like I've been disappointed by barbecue restaurants when it comes to either price, portion size, or both. That definitely was not the case here. The food was incredible, the portion felt substantial, and for once I left feeling like I got a plate that was actually heavy without my wallet feeling light. The sauce was outstanding. The tri-tip was excellent, the ribs were excellent, and the pork was good. The real surprise might have been the baked beans, which were easily the best I've ever had. Hands down, this is the best BBQ in Coeur d'Alene! We always order the Val Kilmer platter, a subtle nod to the movie Tombstone. "I'm your huckleberry". it comes with sliced tri-tip, pulled pork, couple of ribs, and sides of mac and cheese and baked beans. Everything is incredible. I love their bbq sauce, just the right amount of spice. The owner is great! Gotten to know him a little bit over the years. Oh, and on Fridays? ask about the armadillo eggs; smoked stuffed jalapeños! I read somewhere that tri-tip is the "brisket of the west." Well, Barbecue Boys represents tri-tip well with their food truck. They're a little tucked away from traffic flow, but worth finding. I ordered the tri-tip sandwich - being from S Texas, I don't think I'd ever had that cut before. I also ordered the "small" mac & cheese side. The plate came just a few minutes later and it was HEAVY ... I was optimistic. Later, opening the carton ... WOW! This is a great amount of food for a decent price! I'm so glad I did "small" on that mac & cheese. It was very cheesy and had good flavor. The sandwich was like a hoagie STUFFED with thin slices of beef swimming in barbecue sauce. This, I feel, was good and not-so-good. The meat was tender and moist. The sauce was sweet and spicy. But, there's so much of the sauce, it literally drowns the flavor of the beef. And, here's the real "tip" - ditch that hoagie bun and just enjoy the beef. The bun was tough and got soggy; like it was microwaved warm instead of grilled/toasted. I'm not quite sure how they stay in business with the quality they serve at the prices they are charging. This place has the best value in BBQ I've ever seen. The tri-tip sandwich is huge and packed with meat. At $9, it's a steal. For another $4, you can get two sides and a drink. It's unreasonably inexpensive. Just for the value, this place is worth a visit. And the food is great, on top of the great price. The tri tip isn't over-seasoned. The sauce is deliciously sweet and savory with a gentle spicy kick. The mac & cheese side had firm pasta and creamy sauce. The baked beans side was sweet and spicy with chunks of meat. Again, how are they making money? There is some open seating in the middle of the food truck park. From there, you can watch the employees chop wood and smoke the meats behind shop. It's not the Four Seasons, but it's honest food done right. 100% recommend. read more

This place is delicious and the cook was really helpful with helping me pick something that was gluten-free, if anyone in the future is wondering - the brisket, beans, and coleslaw are gluten-free. He suggested I order the brisket sandwich without the bread, and I was very happy with what I got for the price. My boyfriend and I have gotten the Valkyrie a few times and never disappoints. 2 things.... 1) the phone number listed on the building/truck (whatever it's called) which is also the same number on Facebook/google/Yelp, the number is apparently not working? I tried calling it a couple times just to make sure, and it kept saying it was no longer an available number. 2) we visited the food truck area twice this week and both days they were closed. ‍ Still pretty good food though read more

The best BBQ around is here. Hands down the best. Amazing food and owner Zach is super friendly and remembers his customers. I am all about BBQ and this place knocks it out of the park. The Triple B Backhills BBQ makes their own BBQ sauce. This sauce is the best sauce I have tasted and there are three flavors. Original, Sweet and Sassy, and Hot. My favorite is the hot. My wife thinks all of the sauces are hot, but that is normal. They all have flavor. The hot is not super hot, but there is something to it and just right. I am usually all about ribs at BBQ places, but the burgers are some of the best burgers I have ever had anywhere. My favorite burger is the POM (Piece of Meat). It is a burger patty (1/4 I would guess), tri-tip/burger patty, and pulled pork. There is a little more to it, but what more can a hungry person want. I am not a fan of pulled pork, but their pulled pork sandwich and the pulled pork in the POM is really good. The North Idaho Life burger is a patty and egg plus some other yummy stuff. This burger is a close second to the POM. So good. How can I not mention ribs? The ribs are good. Not my favorite, but up there and good. With the BBQ sauce, they are absolutely outstanding. Zach will even slice up each rib for you! The ribs do not fall off the bone, but are super tender and full of flavor. Three main sides here. The mac and cheese is amazing. Great flavor. The beans are alright as they have good flavor, but I like it thicker than the more soup like style here. Another great choice is the pineapple coleslaw. I am not big on coleslaw, neither is my wife, but this is really good. When we do sides, the mac and cheese and coleslaw are our go to. On special days there are armadillo eggs. I forgot to take a picture, but these bacon wrapped goodies are really good. This is a veteran owned business that loves military and police. Also, my German shepherd always gets a meat treat when she comes with me as Zach will feed her a piece of meat. This is her favorite food place by far too. They are also only take 5-10 minutes to get the food out to you even when busy. If you are within 5 hours of here, maybe 6, just go to The Triple B Backhills BBQ. I will be visiting the Triple B EVERY time I come back for a visit! He could win the BBQ Pitmasters!!! Stopped by Triple B's to grab some BBQ for dinner after reading some reviews and looking at some pictures of this food truck on Yelp. I was having a hard time deciding what to get but as I was waiting and looking at the menu I was asked if I wanted to try a sample of meat and sides to see what I'd like to get. YES PLEASE!! I was handed a small boat with a sample of pulled pork, baked beans and mac and cheese. Wow!! Was it tasty. The beans had a great flavor and was a little sweet, the mac and cheese was creamy and had a spicy kick and the pulled pork was nice and juicy. After eating my sample I decided to go with the Valkyrie Platter (a bigger sample Platter) that had mac and cheese, baked beans, pork ribs, pulled pork and sliced smoked tri tip. I also bought a bottle of their homemade sweet and sassy BBQ sauce. It didn't take long for my meal to be put together and ready for me to take home. I really enjoyed the food I bought here. The ribs were good and had a good smoky flavor. Mine did not fall off the bone like some have mentioned in other reviews but were still good none the less. The sliced tri tip was so very tender and so delicious. This Platter was reasonably priced ($14.95) for as big as it was and I was able to split it into two separate meals. I will definitely be stopping by here again to try out the many other BBQ items they have to offer. read more

We're RV'ing and stayed a few days in Coeur D Alene. Decided to try this place. My husband ordered the hot dog, I ordered the ribs and smoked baked potato. The food here is excellent! Ribs were super tender and perfectly seasoned. Potato was uniquely delicious! Hubby loved the hot dog. And to top it off, they gave us a discount because my husband is a veteran. I think we may have come on an off day, as the cheese wasnt the greatest that was used on the chips. Everything about this place screams five stars: the service, the food, and the price. This food truck knows how to BBQ. I ordered a rack of ribs and was I pleasantly surprised! For less than $10, I was able to completely fill my tummy and have leftovers. This is saying a lot as I eat like a pig, maybe even more. After gorging on the meat, I highly recommend paying a visit to the ice cream truck to offset the sodium intake. There is ample parking around. For that you get three meats and two sides which was *almost* too much for this big eater to finish (don't worry, I did). Everything here was near perfection, exactly as I would if I ran the place! It brings me great joy to write something nice about a bbq joint in the Spokane/CDA area, because honestly most just shouldn't be doing bbq. This BBQ is excellent, I loved the Armadillo Egg, and the Valkyrie plate was enough where I couldn't finish it all in one setting (which is saying something because I can eat); the ribs you could literally beat someone with. Prices: Excellent, when you're talking quality to portions, it's just plain excellent. Food: Seriously, try this BBQ! These boys can BBQ! They use quality meats and don't dry out their BBQ, and the seasoning is definitely good enough to eat without BBQ sauce, although I quite enjoy the sauce. The fat content and smoke is sublime, and if you're getting the pulled pork and don't want to sauce it ask for a little bark (burnt end) to really spice that bad boy up.
