Came to Barbeque Bernie with my boyfriend to buy his dad a shirt - he's a fan of this store lol. So we walk in and I have to say - these are the most friendliest folks around. They're so hilarious - I was laughing the whole time. We asked if they sell shirts and he said no and that they hadn't ordered some this year but that he will check his car. He came back with a gift set of knives. I thought nothing of it and he told us he unfortunately did not have shirts. We kept browsing and picked out some other bbq stuff as gifts and when we went to pay he brought out the knives set and said because he couldn't find the shirt he gave us this as a gift instead. I had a great experience in the store + noticed everything was not overpriced - if anything I thought it was pretty affordable. If I lived in Jersey and owned a grill I would totally buy from here. read more

i opened my grill for the first time of the season, hooked up the tank, and it made a very loud hissing sound, and had a gas odor. Thought I needed a new hose. Called the place in Wyckoff I usually go to, guy answers the phone, says we're closed. OK. Google search, brings up BBQ Bernie's, I remember the place I used to live in Elmwood Park, I know where this is, it's not too far.... I call, ask their hours, they're open tip 7pm, I can make it... Ask for the regulator, that's what it's called, and he asks me what the trouble is, I explain, he asks which tank I connected to, was it an old one? It was. He takes the regulator back from me and says I don't need it! "it's the tank. Try connecting the hose to this tank you just brought in for filling, it will be fine. The grill is only a couple of years old, the hose is fine, it's the tank. Call me when you get home, my number's on the receipt". Sure enough, I connect to the new tank, and it's fine! He could have sold me the regulator ($25) and the tank fill up, but he didn't. I promised I would tell all my friends about this place, now that's the ultimate in Service! Oh, and they're open 362 days a year, with the exception of Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years, til 7pm weekdays, and 6pm Saturday and Sunday... "and sometimes later..." he says. read more

I have been going there for years. For personal and business needs. I walked in today , refilled my tank. Paid the guy and he told me my debit card was declined. I said try again because here is money in the account there must be a mistake so he tried again. The younger one of the owners walked in so the worker told him it was declined and the owner asked if I had another card. I told him yes but can he check his machines because I have plenty of money to cover for the tank I didn't want to have to come back. He grabbed the receipts and underlines where it says declined and as he does that he says it slowly. I found it very insulting and owning my own business I would not speak to a customer like that. I said I know how to read and I know what you are saying bit there is money in there I just want to make sure if we need to cancel or credit my account cause I can see it kn the pending on my bank app. He said I'm not a thief, I'm not going to steal. I replied I never said you would you are missing the point. He said call your bank which I was already on the phone with them. I got in touch with the bank and they told me the transactions went through. They asked to speak woth him to let him know his vendor needs to refund and he starts arguing woth the lady from the bank for her to credit. He was just very unprofessional and nasty. Practically threw my phone on the counter. I didn't want to deal with him so I left without a credit cause I felt disrespected and did not want to lose my cool. As a customer for many years I am very disappointed in his attitude and the way he spoke to me. They lost a customer. read more
