Not having a "go-to" barber makes it tough to try someone new and this choice was made even tougher that there were no reviews online. After thinking about it a bit more I decided to give it a shot since I had driven by this place hundreds of times over the years and I was looking so scrappy I didn't even want to look at myself in the mirror any more. That all being said, I was very happy with the hair cut I received. It came out looking really good and Eric was super friendly which made my time sitting in the chair enjoyable with good conversation. The way Eric cut my hair is a little different than I am used to because he spent a lot of time with the clippers vs the buzzer which was nice. I've noticed that some other barbers struggled with scissors and relied solely on the buzzer. I think this helped the longer parts of my hair come out nicely. One thing I would have liked was to get cleaned up around my neck with a straight razor which I don't know if he does, but for a 13 dollar haircut it really can't be beat. I expect that service when I am paying 20+ but when it's 13 dollars I really can't complain. For the price point, convenient location on main street and how my hair came out well, I will definitely be back next time I am in the area and encourage trying him out.

There is signage to tell you what the charge would be for service they will provide. Suddenly, in the area, there is plethora of barbers. There are more people up here now, than 20 years ago. However, this is not New York City that could have as many as 1,000 people on a single block. Many of these new places have small windows that you can't see into the shop or a lot of cars parked outside with blacked out windows. Seems odd; just saying.

It's safe and friendly in a way the whole country was many years ago. G-Rated, family-friendly TV, reading material and conversation. You'll be greeted by a group of friendly barbers who don't just cut your hair - everyone gets the hot towel treatment, their neck shaved with hot lather and a straight razor and a shoulder massage done with an electric hand-held massager - all included in the price of your haircut. There is coffee and sweets while you wait. The prices are posted. All the barbers do a great job. The wait can be long if you're waiting for a particular person so most people go to whoever is open when their turn comes. If your really pressed for time you can ask them to skip the message. They want what you want. If you hate going to get your hair cut, do yourself a favor and give Johnny's a try. You'll be back. What's my favorite thing about the place outside of Johnny himself? The Lime-sec he uses to freshen me up. I love that smell and for people like me, the products they use on you are also available for sale. UPDATE 1/29/17 - While Johnny's online presence indicates he's closed today, a Sunday, he is indeed open. Why is that? Johnny has decided to close his shop on Saturdays (I'll give you a moment to read that again.) The Johnny's where a Saturday would find 4-5 barbers and a packed waiting area is now closed on that day and open from 7:30AM to Noon on Sunday. I arrived today at 7:31AM to find only Johnny and another barber, each with a person in their chair, with 3 others waiting. Not good. It takes Johnny himself about 45 minutes on average to complete a person - and that's not for a scissor cut. Not wanting to be here for hours I went with the other barber. Even though she isn't usually one of my top picks she does a good job and is quicker than the rest. Closing on Saturday, in my mind equals a lost star.
