I can't review the food, only the venue, staff and drinks and I thought they were all excellent. Went to see the amazing Club d'Elf show recently. It was a Thursday so maybe things weren't as busy as normal but we showed up a little early and the back biergarten was open so we got some drinks as it was a nice spring afternoon. The bartender was very friendly and when we attempted to bring our drinks around front she let us know that we had to finish them first. The Venue itself reminded me a bit of the nearby Levon Helm studios in that it's an open space with a balcony overlooking everything and seating and standing room on the base floor. One thing I loved about this show is the sound was great. We sat stage left but the PA was subtly piping the DJ and guitar parts from stage right. It wasn't a huge crowd but people were having a good time with some standing room in front of the bar dancing etc. The bartenders were super attentive and responsive during the performance. I have been to Bearsville, Levon Helm and now Colony and I really feel lucky to have such intimate performance spaces somewhat locally. All of the staff were super friendly. We went for valentines Cupid night and had a great time. The venue itself is very atmospheric and ladies of the night made it even more memorable. Bar was overflowed and took a long time to save everyone, I think no one expected the crowd of that size. Kitchen worked smoothly and food was bar quality but decent. We had a lot of fun and definitely will be back. I took away one star because of the luck of seating. Not enough tables or bar space or any kind of seating for everyone. Only about 50 people who got there at the opening had a chance to get a seat. Others like us lucked out and had to figure out how to eat without a table . read more

This place has been around for a while and when you walk in its like going back in time but don't let the looks fool you its party time in here. With musicians from start ups to professionals . I remember on several occasions while visiting friends going to the bar and watching the bartenders service the crowd fast .there is a section out back for the warm weather and a bar and a kitchen with delicious hamburgers and wings. The entertainment and fun venue warrants a strong 5, the Food And Drug Administration middling 3, so on balance my experience warranted a solid 4. This is a 5 for those seeking a spot to let loose and enjoy music. My fish sandwich was tasty but very meager and the fries were cold and uninspiring. The beer was delicious, cold, and very reasonably priced for this kind of spot. What an amazing place! Went for comedian Jeff Leeson and got some drinks to enjoy during the show. The bartender and drinks alone make us want to go back! Not only was the staff amazing and helpful, but we also met some lovely locals! The interior has such a cool bar/theater vibe to it with a downstairs bar and seating area, then an upstairs viewing balcony. Highly recommend if you're in the area - we'll be returning as soon as we can! read more

Dear Colony: The woman checking for COVID vaccinations was an "A"*. Not like a New York rude "A"*, just a headband wearing, teacher type authoritative "A"* and that energy that doesn't fly with me. She may push around your Connecticut customers, not this guy. My wife carries her paper vax card to all events. I have a New York State Excelsior Pass that has a bar code along with the same name on my New York State license. She tells me what that?? I say it's my digital New York State Excelsior vaccination pass. She says: This isn't New York City, I need to show a card or I can't get into the event. What?! I crossed multiple bridges to get here, in the future, can you have someone up front who's more technically savvy? After I logged into the New York State website and showed this "A"* the date of my vaccinations, she allow us to enter the venue. Once inside, we have the place to ourselves. My wife walks towards the kitchen to order food and I go to the bar to order drinks. The Bar is 5 Yelp stars! The bartender & I start discussing what's on tap. I ask him about the Genesee Cream Ale. He said it's his personal favorite and pours me a taste? That's just great customer service. I grab a white wine for my wife and a proper pint of Genesee Cream Ale for myself. My wife didn't have the same experience. The special board has written Pierogies but didn't have them tonight. My wife ordered two French Onion Soups but only one was available? We're here at 6pm and you're out of soup?! She ordered for herself a Mulligatawny Soup. The soup was good but how can you be out of items when the doors first open?? The first floor of the club is intimate and the acoustics remind me of The Iridium in New York City. We saw Lindsay Webster perform and she sounded a-mazing. So the question is, will I return? This is based solely on the fact that their doors are said to open at 6:00, and they have us waiting outside in freezing weather for close to half an hour. Laura made our private event so special and seamless - from the first conversation months ago until well after the event was over, she was a pleasure to work with and helped think of every detail. We just hosted my husband's 40th birthday at Colony and it couldn't have been better. Laura was organized, creative, so responsive, helped recommend vendors and connected us with anything we needed. Really excellent experience! I was in town visiting my brother and we came from Kingston to see The Lost Leaders. This hall is a really excellent live music venue - acoustics are great, the acts are awesome, and there's even a nice dance floor if you're feeling inspired. There's a varied, interesting menu (don't make your decision until you see the specials board in the back!), stiff drinks, good local beer options on tap, friendly staff, and a cool outdoor area if it's a pretty day. They do verify vaccination status at the door for indoor events, which is reassuring, and the process works really smoothly. Highly recommend. read more

Amazing venue. Huge indoor and outdoor space, primarily a music venue, but basically a huge bar. The night we went there was an all women group playing inside- really great band. I wasn't expecting them to be as good as they were. Watched them for an hour or so and then drifted to the outdoor area which has a separate bar, and was quieter. They also do food. Sat by the fire pit later. Definitely worth checking out even if you are, like me, not normally a consumer of live music. read more

I honestly don't know how we ended up here during our time Woodstock! There was a band playing our group wanted to see but we missed them and following the music was a burlesque show. When in Woodstock :) There was a $20 cover which we thought was way overpriced but we were able to score a deal for $10 a head. We didn't know what to expect and then came out the dancers! The stage is a little rickety, but the showgirls definitely worked with what they had. They even had a stripper pole! The dancers were entertaining - some better than others, but kept the crowded engaged during their performances. The time in between the dancers though did sometimes take long. We mainly hung upstairs but there was a full large bar as soon as you enter caring everything from cocktails, wine, beer and hard seltzers. Upstairs was like an old theater where you watched from the mezzanine. In addition, there was a separate library with a fireplace and pool table. It was a fun place to be for drinks with friends and the burlesque show was an entertaining bonus, albeit way overpriced. read more

What a great place to see a show! And by "see" I mean, you will be able to actually see everything, as it's a shallow room with tables and chairs and a second level that surrounds the entire room. There's a long bar opposite from the stage where you can also sit. Check out the decent beer, wine and cocktail list! Then die over the prices that remind you you're not in the city. Pro tip: Get there well in advance of the start time. We arrived right after the opening act and wistfully stared from above at those those tables in front of the stage. It affords a level of intimacy that is rare in a club with a capacity of this size. That said, there are some large booths up there that are cool, as well as small tables that overlook the stage as well. The perfect place to see a show for realz. read more

I've never been to Woodstock, before; it's about 100 miles from my home, but I can tell you that I will be watching the listings for upcoming shows at this awesome venue! I was in town for a show on Thanksgiving weekend and the vibe at The Colony was so warm and welcoming that it makes me want to spend all my holidays there! And since they have an outdoor beer garden I actually could! The building itself is about 100 years old and although it has been under new management for a few years it still retains many of the original features of it's original existence as a Hotel. The Main Room only seats about 100 people by my estimate. There is a dance floor in front of the stage and there is a balcony which runs around the perimeter of the room. Lighting is adequate but subdued, which ads to the atmosphere. The large bar is well-staffed by attentive bartenders and barbacks. There is a kitchen and they have a yummy menu, although I ate prior to my arrival and so I did not sample the fare. The lobby has some nice comfy leather chairs and check out the antique phone booth in the corner. The website claims that the have a billiard table, too. The show was wonderful. The sound and lights were perfect, and the band had a great time. read more

This is the kind of joint that makes a community worth living in. Great staff, good grub and drinks, fantastic line-up of shows, and a super comfortable space to hang out. Lots of different spaces indoors depending on how close you want to get to the music. And the beer garden? Well, first props to the Colony for making that outdoor space happen during bad covid times, so musicians had a place to play and the rest of us got a place to see them. It was a LIFE SAVER. And it continues to be an awesome space to hang. I can hardly think of a happier place to be on a perfect Catskills day than in the Colony Beer Garden. read more

Whatever to the people reviewing this place for the food. Which is good by the way. Had a burger and mac and cheese on 11/6/21, both were solid. If you've ever been to the Bowery Ballroom in New York City, the greatest live music venue in the history of the universe, this place has a similar layout. But it is a quarter of the size. It's killer and I hope it's around forever. They also have free live music outside during the day, but this was an indoor show. Super nice people work there. Go. read more

Cool place here in Woodstock NY and what brought me here was live music that I heard from a few blocks away. They had a very large field with a stage for live music and at least 25 picnic tables. Music by Brighton Beat was marvelous while drinking Allagash white with an order of Mac and cheese-not bad, sesame chicken fingers- nice spice, and Onion Rings-change the fryer oil. People working there are great and friendly, smiling and that improves the experience. What I did not like is the hippie guy walking around with a tomahawk on his belt! I would have felt safer if he was wearing a Glock or I was wearing mine. This place has a lot of patrons who survived the 60s, made a boat load of money and now just hang out, weird right when you think about their protests? I make this judgement by the number of old people driving Porsches and other exotic cars. Plenty of older folks drinking heavy and assume they walk home! Before arrival, We did not enter any Woodstock stores but One because they all required masks but the outdoor Colony was mask free although some people wore them anyway because they were tainted and frightened by Dr. Fauci & CDC but more power to choice, right! Give this place a 3 because long lines at the bar and the food was average but the rating for Ambiance, Characters and Music was 5. read more

Came in for a concert while staying at an Airbnb across the street. What a cute venue! The upstairs was larger than I thought, had lots of seating and you could lean over to see the concert easily. The cocktails were STIFF and delicious. The vibe was fun and laid back. We had cake after the concert. It was delicious, the staff was really nice. We left full with a nice glow on. read more

I attended an event at Colony Woodstock for the first time in late November. We loved Amanda Palmer's Goth Dance Night and this this unique venue. Unfortunately, I am writing this review because I have attempted to get a credit card back from Colony's bar (they held onto it for the tab) since the last weekend in November, using Facebook messages, calls that went directly to a voicemail with no option to leave a message, e-mails, and letters. I received one curt reply in December. The responder told me they lose lots of credit cards, but that he/she would check. I never heard back after that. Considering it's now January, I would like to find out what happened to make sure I can protect financial information, if necessary. read more

We were looking forward to trying Colony after hearing good things about them. Food took 45 minutes, this didnt include the time it took to clear up the confusion of our food being given to another group of people. There was no offer to recook the food and no apology. Girl taking orders was extremely rude to customers and other employees. Finally got our food and it was cold. Also didnt love the Falafel sandwich. I am so comfortable here! We came here to see a band. I don't like feeling crowded and I don't like standing for long periods of time...no problems here. Plenty of seating everywhere. We sat in the balcony and had a wonderful view of the bands that played. We also had a salad with grilled chicken and the fish and chips...very tasty! Food is getting steadily better. Recently I've had a Swordfish club and shrimp roll specials. Both spectacular if a little messy. Their Mediterranean Platter is a dependably yummy healthy choice with excellent falafel, tahini and assorted grilled veggies. I am so happy this place has opened! I've been coming to Woodstock for over 20 years, and since the Tinker Street Cafe closed there really hasn't been too many options for community centered nightlife in town. Came last night with my parents to hear Maria Muldaur - what an amazing show!!! Seats are comfortable (come early to snag one), service is friendly, good drink selection, acoustics are great. I didn't eat here so I can't speak to the food. Maria blew everyone away with her vocals and magnetism - she puts musicians half her age to shame! I will definitely be back!!!! read more
