The Vinyl Room is a bar, restaurant, record shop and arcade that opened in Wappingers Falls, New York in 2017. It was founded by John Kihlmire. On a trip to Colorado, Kihlmire visited a shop that featured an abundance of books and records. He came up with an idea to open a similar shop that would also feature craft beer. Kihlmire initially opened The Vinyl Room by himself in Wappingers Falls. In addition to beer, records, and video games, customers could also enjoy pizza by ordering it through a special window that connected to the Wagon Wheel next door. Although the concept was well-received, the small space and constraints from the landlord limited the full potential of the business. In July 2021, it moved to a new space at 344 Main Street in Beacon. Customers could order food from Roma Nova across the street. Unfortunately, the space was still too small and the owners received numerous noise complaints from apartment tenants upstairs. In August 2023, The Vinyl Room moved down the street to 393 Main Street to their third (and hopefully forever) location. For the latest version of the business, childhood friend Kane Licari came on board as a partner. This also marks the first time that The Vinyl Room features a kitchen with their own food. The menu features burgers, sandwiches, wraps, salads, rice bowls, tacos, wings, and various bar bites. In addition to craft beer, the bar also serves wine, craft cocktails, and mocktails. I recently visited The Vinyl Room for lunch with my two sons while we were visiting Beacon. Any place that features craft beer, records, and classic arcade cabinets sounds like Heaven to someone like me. I really liked the whole vibe of the interior with the industrial design and all of the pop culture and music references. My sons and I grabbed a booth and looked over the menu. For food, I had the "Crunchy Chicken Bowl" (sushi rice, pickled onions, avocado, arugula, charred corn, chili garlic crunch, creamy garlic sauce), my older son had the "Grilled Cheese" (Vermont white cheddar, havarti, slow roasted onions, roasted garlic butter, sourdough), and my younger son had the "Return of The Mac" (smoked gouda Vermont cheddar cream, buttery breadcrumbs). We were all very happy with our choices! To drink, I had a draught pour of Upward Brewing's "Summer Camp" (Helles Lager). After finishing our delicious meal, I scrolled through the impressive record collection. Then we all headed downstairs to have a blast in the arcade. Before leaving, I enjoyed a pour of Equilibrium Brewery's "Tidal Balance" (Double IPA; collab w/ Sand City Brewing). First time being on Main Street in Beacon, and I must say there is a good scene happening here. Plenty of options for food but we chose here. TVR is a restaurant/record store/hangout. We went around 5pm, and saw the sign "Seat Yourself & Order At The Bar". Ok... So I asked a bartender for 2 menus, and found a booth. We decided quickly, and I made my way to the bar. Others were ahead of me, so I patiently waited to order: Tripple Smash Burger, Honey Buffalo Salad, Purple Rain (2), Diet Coke. I paid at the bar, served the drinks and waited for our food. The music was 80's MTV Themed {Pat Benatar, Bon Jovi, Bruuuce, Billy Idol}. Jenga, Horrible Couple and Cards Against Humanity were on the tables to pass the time. Or flip through the many records available for purchase until the food arrives. The salad was large in size and very good. Been a while since I had a burger, and this filled the void. Fries were not that hot, but we ate them anyway. Afterwards, we went downstairs and played some old school arcade games and then headed out. Upon leaving we saw someone was having a birthday party, which was nice to see. I'm sure in the summer this place gets packed. They also have a selection of draught beer (The proper way to spell it). Chill place and perfect for pub food with some beer. Dark lounge-y vibe with music loud but not super loud. The Korean nachos were not as yum as the reviews said - so a bit disappointed. But the Brussels sprouts and pickle chips were amazing :) The one point missing was that we were at a booth - with no beer menu served and the server was not knowledgable about the draft beer offerings. So it was tough to pick. But the service was friendly - the Jenga at the table a great perk. Will go again. read more

First time trying this place and if I'm ever in the area I'd definitely come back. The ambiance and decor are really hip and inviting. You can scan the vinyl for sale at the in store record shop, hit the arcade games and chill in the lounge/speakeasy downstairs, play board or card games at a table near the bar, and try the delicious crafted cocktails! Oh, there's alsoa food menu! We had to sit ourselves and order at the bar but the honey buffalo salad and burger were (surprisingly) some of the best bar meals I've had. My friends and I were recently in Beacon for the day and ended our experience at The Vinyl Room. I loved the decor and the music, and it definitely has a fun vibe overall. It's pretty loud, but that's just because I'm old. The cocktails were tasty and well executed. We weren't very hungry but shared the mac and cheese and the Brussels sprouts. Both dishes were delicious and the portions were extremely generous. They did get very busy since it was a Saturday night, and there are only two single-occupancy bathrooms, so there was always a wait, but it wasn't a big deal. Overall, I would definitely stop in again the next time I'm in the area. read more

A gem on Main Street! We were looking for a place to grab dinner before heading to the city that didn't have too many children around. There was a short wait on a busy Saturday night but it wasn't too bad. The cocktails were great, I had the one with topo Chico and my friend unfortunately ordered one with an ingredient she was allergic to. Had server Olivia F. for the night, I usually come to this establishment and it's a good vibe, but upon ordering a drink, server was unknowledgable of the liquor they possess. I ordered truffle fries they bring out what they tell me is tallow fries, I'm like OK I didn't order this, an expectation that they'll check with the kitchen and make sure it's correctly what I ordered, but I didn't ask for was the server to go back-and-forth with me and tell me that my food smelled like what I ordered I did not ask for her nose to be stuck in my food . Everything after was okay besides being checked on only once after the food was served, then at the end of the dinner when we ask for the check and it to be split, she charges us the wrong amount and we are told to just Venmo each other, the difference and that management will not help us. The only reason we found this out was because I requested the receipt after we weren't asked if we want it. (Chances are she was aware about the overcharge) Not happy with service at all. read more

Stumbled on Vinyl Room looking for a spot post-hike to reward our bodies with delicious food and drinks. Vinyl captured us as it advertised both & a record store. The interior is one huge open space with a small section with a few records you can purchase. Brick walls, stool seating and red, neon velvet room signs inside. I'm unsure if the host/waitress was busy, but she did appear a little cold when we asked for seats. We almost left because it felt unwelcoming but our tired bodies forced us to sit. At the end of the dinner, she warmed up but I was looking for her a few times to order an additional app/ pepper condiments. Chalking it up to she was wearing too many hats because I couldn't even find her when I went to the bathroom. Now for the food- don't get the flatbread unless you love love love cheese. I barely tasted the meat toppings and I could tell the balsamic vinaigrette on it was a nice idea to balance out the salty cheese but it was overpowered. Do get the wings and burger. My friends raved about their meals. I tried to give the food another chance by ordering the dumplings but once again - meh. The flavor was off and needed a different sauce. First time at this location, went Sunday afternoon and it wasn't crowded. The bissel bro beer was tasty if you like IPA'S. Korean nachos were delicious with a perfect kick! I could have honestly ate it myself and not shared it lol. Pretzel bites were nice and soft paired with a nice yellow cheese warm dipping sauce. Let me just start by saying the service here was fantastic. Me and my friends just came last Friday night for evening cocktails. Nothing on the drink menu really called to me so I just ordered a Manhattan. To be honest it was the worst Manhattan I'd ever tasted. Not sure how you could mess it up when it's just three ingredients. Long story short, sent it back and asked for them to try remaking it. The drink in the picture is the replacement Manhattan they brought me. Tasted just as watery and bad...looked like a light beer. Found our kind waitress again and she asked how it was, I said honestly I can't drink it and she asked if she could get me something else. I said anything whiskey based would be good. The drink she brought me was far better, but overly sweet. Won't be coming back here...sad for a place that has such potential and great service. TVR is just what Beacon needed to be even COOLER. I had been to the old location years ago in Wappingers and it was a great concept. TVR 2.0 in this newer location is on another level. From cocktail bar, to record shop and arcade with over 12 beers on tap rotating, a delicious food menu and live DJ on Fridays & Saturdays after 10pm. It's a great spot for after dinner drinks, hanging out, vibing to the music, or just a place to adult like a teen. Absolutely love all the different seating options. You can cozy up in one of their booths, hang out downstairs in the arcade area, sit by the bar or score the coolest seats in the house that make you feel like you've just entered a speakeasy. Came in here starving after a lovely day waking around Beacon and the surrounding areas. The menu looks good! They have such a great beer list! Spacious bar! Cool vibes! We were immediately sold, and next thing you know I was sitting down, preparing myself and my taste buds for an assault of deliciousness. The highlight of our meal was the cold, perfectly poured pint of KCBC lager I received about 10 minutes after sitting down. Another 15 minutes passed, our server came by and asked us if we wanted to order anything else. We politely declined and reiterated that we were hungry and excited to get the stuff we had ordered 25 mins ago. Another 15 minutes after that, we thought 'hey, isn't it strange it's been 40 minutes and we've gotten no food yet - not even the salad? Let's ask the server.' 10 minutes later our server informed us the kitchen had a bit of a backlog due to staffing shortages. We asked how much longer it would take - no one could give us a straight answer. An hour after we ordered, it was pretty clear that we weren't getting anything that night. Maybe the food would've been good - for all we know they are planting the greens for our salad and raising baby chicks for our sandwich as I type this - but we decided to close out our tab and leave. Did anyone offer us a snack? Comp us our drink for the hour long wait? Give us a coupon for next time? No, no, and no. Plenty of other good restaurants and bars in Beacon. Like the spotify playlist that the establishment had before this "dj" came on (8/1/25) was a gorrilion times better than the trash music playing rn. Never seen a more stagnant crowd in a bar setting like this nor one that cleared out after 20mins of trying to give this dude a chance. Its been a revolving door since Ive gotten here. It was my birthday and my close friends and I decided to stumble upon the Vinyl Room for a late celebration. First off, the atmosphere is so cozy and wonderful music choices. Second, the appetizers and food are soooo delicious! We shared the Korean nachos which I highly recommend to enjoy with friends. As for drinks, they have a selection of beers, wines and cocktails. I got a Christmas drink called Sleigh Cake and it was strong but well balanced. It tasted like Christmas for adults, that's for sure. And as a first time mom, it was nice to know they accommodated a seating place for me and my baby girl; she was not bothered by any noise and even took a nap! The new Vinyl Room makes me incredibly happy! It's much more spacious, with a large, inviting bar, booths lining the wall and plenty of seating. Gone are the video games (in the old location, I never really wanted to sit in the back by them because they were super loud) and tons of records that made it seem more like a rec room than a bar - not that I minded all of that either, I just like the grown-up iteration a bit more. What hasn't changed: the great selection of wine and beer, the genuinely friendly staff and inviting vibe. I feel much more inclined to come here with friends and cozy up in one of the brand, spanking new booths. The evening we came here was a Saturday, so there were no seats at the bar, and even though I'm not especially a "sit at the bar" kinda gal, my husband is and I'm sure that's where we'll end up next time. read more

This place blew me away. I'd like to begin with Frank Sinatra hanging at the front door ( huge Sinatra fan) customer signatures and initials covering this huge Sinatra portrait. This entire establishment is like a museum when you walk in. The art, the vinyl, the ambiance is just truly amazing. You spend a lot of time looking at the walls while bumping to what's spinning. Love that vibe. The owners are locals, so again, lots of Beacon history hanging on the walls. It's a must stop shop. They even have a damn arcade downstairs! How cool!? Staff greets you immediately at the door. Super friendly and attentive. Had myself a lemon drop martini absolutely delcious. Decided to try one of their signature cocktails, low fidelity is an awesome twist on an old fashion. Tasty and unique. Been to the other TVR's, this location offering a great food menu, I had to try some things. Here's my recommendations- The Korean Nacho's - HELL YES. That's my Jam panini - YUMMMM Sliders are all delcious and filling The desserts- okay every single dessert is in house. We have been here before and always have enjoyed the food, ambiance and service. Tonight - not so much. Beer was good. Service ok. Food - not what I remember. Nachos were not consistent with past time - too much Kimchi and too many chips with nothing on them - we did our best so they were ok - but just ok. I was very excited to see a Gramma pizza (new item on the menu) but it was served cold and soggy. We brought it home to try and resurrect it in our oven. Wish us luck. read more
