First time trying this place and if I'm ever in the area I'd definitely come back. The ambiance and decor are really hip and inviting. You can scan the vinyl for sale at the in store record shop, hit the arcade games and chill in the lounge/speakeasy downstairs, play board or card games at a table near the bar, and try the delicious crafted cocktails! Oh, there's alsoa food menu! We had to sit ourselves and order at the bar but the honey buffalo salad and burger were (surprisingly) some of the best bar meals I've had. I'll go anywhere to look at Bruce Springsteen's face and get buzzed off a martini called Purple Rain. Count me in girrrrl

My friends and I were recently in Beacon for the day and ended our experience at The Vinyl Room. I loved the decor and the music, and it definitely has a fun vibe overall. It's pretty loud, but that's just because I'm old. The cocktails were tasty and well executed. We weren't very hungry but shared the mac and cheese and the Brussels sprouts. Both dishes were delicious and the portions were extremely generous. They did get very busy since it was a Saturday night, and there are only two single-occupancy bathrooms, so there was always a wait, but it wasn't a big deal. Overall, I would definitely stop in again the next time I'm in the area.

A gem on Main Street! We were looking for a place to grab dinner before heading to the city that didn't have too many children around. There was a short wait on a busy Saturday night but it wasn't too bad. The cocktails were great, I had the one with topo Chico and my friend unfortunately ordered one with an ingredient she was allergic to. They promptly took it off the bill and were really nice about it. The nachos were tasty as were the fries. Music was great, ambiance was lively. I'll be back!

Intriguing vinyl Knowledgeable service Just love the spot Beacon has a lot going for it, and TVR is a strong pawn in that overall game. A really suave vinyl selection up front, comfort and diversity of seating throughout, good beverage selection, food options for a variety of eaters, and just a really outstanding spot to pass some time independent of any previous variable. Bonus points for opening a bit early for the lunch crowd, and for mixing a decent number of kindred topics under one roof. It just works exceptionally well. Could be copied by others, but the fact that it absolutely excels here is all that really matters. Highest recommendation. Can't wait to be back next time, and again after that.

Pretty cool place, definitely a party vibe with the DJ. Service was just ok, we could have had better communication. the nachos were kinda cold, but we had a fun night.

Stumbled on Vinyl Room looking for a spot post-hike to reward our bodies with delicious food and drinks. Vinyl captured us as it advertised both & a record store. The interior is one huge open space with a small section with a few records you can purchase. Brick walls, stool seating and red, neon velvet room signs inside. I'm unsure if the host/waitress was busy, but she did appear a little cold when we asked for seats. We almost left because it felt unwelcoming but our tired bodies forced us to sit. At the end of the dinner, she warmed up but I was looking for her a few times to order an additional app/ pepper condiments. Chalking it up to she was wearing too many hats because I couldn't even find her when I went to the bathroom. Now for the food- don't get the flatbread unless you love love love cheese. I barely tasted the meat toppings and I could tell the balsamic vinaigrette on it was a nice idea to balance out the salty cheese but it was overpowered. Do get the wings and burger. My friends raved about their meals. I tried to give the food another chance by ordering the dumplings but once again - meh. The flavor was off and needed a different sauce. Cocktails were just ok again.

First time at this location, went Sunday afternoon and it wasn't crowded. The bissel bro beer was tasty if you like IPA'S. Korean nachos were delicious with a perfect kick! I could have honestly ate it myself and not shared it lol. Pretzel bites were nice and soft paired with a nice yellow cheese warm dipping sauce. My mother in law tried the Mr. Fancy pants drink and loved it. The place looked aesthetically nice with plenty of cool wall art.

    Manhattan

Let me just start by saying the service here was fantastic. Me and my friends just came last Friday night for evening cocktails. Nothing on the drink menu really called to me so I just ordered a Manhattan. To be honest it was the worst Manhattan I'd ever tasted. Not sure how you could mess it up when it's just three ingredients. Long story short, sent it back and asked for them to try remaking it. The drink in the picture is the replacement Manhattan they brought me. Tasted just as watery and bad...looked like a light beer. Found our kind waitress again and she asked how it was, I said honestly I can't drink it and she asked if she could get me something else. I said anything whiskey based would be good. The drink she brought me was far better, but overly sweet. Won't be coming back here...sad for a place that has such potential and great service. I had also heard good things from friends...maybe it was just an off night for the bartender.

Took a day trip to Beacon and stumbled upon this cute bar that is also a record shop. It's a pretty big bar that has two floors. The vinyl shop and bar are on the first floor and downstairs they have arcade games and board games. Limited cocktail menu with drinks around $15 each. I don't remember if they have a food menu or not. If I'm in the area I'd definitely stop here again!

Came in here starving after a lovely day waking around Beacon and the surrounding areas. The menu looks good! They have such a great beer list! Spacious bar! Cool vibes! We were immediately sold, and next thing you know I was sitting down, preparing myself and my taste buds for an assault of deliciousness. The highlight of our meal was the cold, perfectly poured pint of KCBC lager I received about 10 minutes after sitting down. Another 15 minutes passed, our server came by and asked us if we wanted to order anything else. We politely declined and reiterated that we were hungry and excited to get the stuff we had ordered 25 mins ago. Another 15 minutes after that, we thought 'hey, isn't it strange it's been 40 minutes and we've gotten no food yet - not even the salad? Let's ask the server.' 10 minutes later our server informed us the kitchen had a bit of a backlog due to staffing shortages. We asked how much longer it would take - no one could give us a straight answer. An hour after we ordered, it was pretty clear that we weren't getting anything that night. Maybe the food would've been good - for all we know they are planting the greens for our salad and raising baby chicks for our sandwich as I type this - but we decided to close out our tab and leave. Did anyone offer us a snack? Comp us our drink for the hour long wait? Give us a coupon for next time? No, no, and no. Plenty of other good restaurants and bars in Beacon. If you're hungry - go to one of those instead.

But when I want to have an elevated experience with a nod to fine dining, this is my go-to. I always bring friends from out of town here and everyone is impressed. The bartenders make the best martinis and Manhattans you'll find, along with a seasonal cocktail menu that features something for everyone, including mocktails. When I don't want a full dining experience but the hubs and I have a babysitter, we like to sit at the bar for martinis and oysters - SO FRESH! If you don't do oysters, anything on the appetizers list is a wonderful light bite. I don't know what kind of magic the chef uses to make the salads but they are always simple, yet stunning. For dinner, the steak is hard to pass up if you eat red meat. I usually get the single serving NY strip, which is incredible. You can't go wrong. I'm excited to try the porterhouse for 2. My mollusk loving friend raved about the mussels and the fish selection is fantastic. I'm not a big dessert person, but splitting any of the desserts is a treat. Alternatively, the digestif selection doesn't disappoint. The bartenders and bar manager, Nick, are helpful in guiding your taste buds to the right choice. Bud, the owner, whose previous establishments can be read about in some respectfully placed articles around the restaurant, is always accommodating for the busiest place in town. It's nearly impossible to get a seat on Friday and Saturday nights from 6-9, but he will be honest and create a space at one of the little side bar areas if he can. The ambiance is sexy and sophisticated with a touch of whimsy. The toilet paper holder in the restroom always makes me smile (IYKYK). Having been to this restaurant many times, you'll start to see familiar faces as there is now a strong regular crowd. The community and connections that I've found while at Lyonshare have enhanced my experience of living in Beacon. Oh, last thing - brunch is a can't miss, must do culinary event.

We shared the Butter and Blue salad, really well done. The fusilli Ferretto with lamb ragu was one of the best meals I've had in months. The homemade pasta was al dente and the lamb ragu was fragrant and meaty and rich. Perfect on a particularly cold evening. Liz had the sea bass and raved about it. We shared a bottle of Madonna Dell Donno Barolo wine which was probably not the best choice for the sea bass but was an outstanding match for the lamb ragu. The cocktails and dessert were also perfectly done!

We were seated right by the window and it has a lovely view. Generally speaking, the ambience is really nice. All of the staff was very nice and attentive. We did have a newer server who seemed a little bit nervous and less familiar with the menu than you might want, but she was very nice and we have no complaints about the actual service. We split a half bottle of wine, which was a nice option since we didn't want a full bottle. We started with the French baguette, the brussels sprouts, and the whipped ricotta. The brussels sprouts were delicious. They were perfectly cooked and I couldn't stop going back to them. The whipped ricotta was also really interesting and the flavors were amazing. What was really disappointing was the baguette. When I think baguette, I think crusty, hot, out of the oven. The texture of the baguette was weird because it almost had more of a pretzel like exterior that was chewy and not crispy. For mains, we had the crispy chicken sandwich and the cassoulet. The sandwich was kind of a letdown. The flavors were all nice, but there was no textural difference. The bun was a little too big for the sandwich, the avocado, and the other toppings, just all kind of mushed into each other. It was perfectly enjoyable, but just nothing to write home about. The cassoulet was very good. There was a nice depth of flavor and smokiness to the meat. Overall, no complaints. It did seem as though our mains probably sat under a heat lamp. My guess is that because we were still working on the appetizers they did not want us to feel rushed, but with this kind of meal and the price point, they should do a better job pacing, or they should just bring the food out when it comes out. I would rather have the fresh hot food out of the kitchen, than have it sitting under a heat lamp. Overall, the meal was lovely. There were a lot of really high points. There were also some disappointing parts of the meal. Given the price point and the feel of the round house, the few missteps hit a little bit harder. But we would absolutely come back again. It was an overall very nice experience and we enjoyed our ourselves.

First, the bartender was so lovely! I don't drink so I was truly impressed with the number of non-alcoholic beverage options available. I initially ordered a non-alcoholic drink, but then I saw the Shark Attack Mocktail and asked if I could switch to that. Thankfully I caught her right before she started making the first drink! The mocktail was sooo cute and actually really tasty! (See photo I included). I loved the theme of it, especially as summertime is officially here. Now let's talk about the arcade part of this place! The machines take quarters, so use the ones you have in your pocket! No quarters? No problem! They have a machine that will give you them, however it only accepts $1 and $5 bills. No cash? Also not a problem! They have an ATM on site. They really did think of everything, here! Most of the games are old skool, such as Pac-Man, Pinball, Dance Dance Revolution, etc. They also have a claw machine, however it's rigged so don't waste your time or quarters on it (which is exactly what I did, hahah!). Pac-Man is two players and my husband and I had a lot of fun with that one! I also LOVED Dance Dance Revolution (located in the far left corner in the back, behind the bar area) and wish I had found it before I wasted most of our quarters. Most of the games take anywhere from $0.50 to $1 to play, so keep that in mind. The patio is very large and much quieter compared to inside. I loved the atmosphere with all the string lights! They also have two little seating areas that are gated (which kind of look like adult playhouses?) which I think would be an awesome spot to chill with your friends + your dog. No fear of your pup running off! Regarding food: they do have a small menu, however it's mostly snack items like mozzarella sticks, a giant pretzel, things to that nature. What's cool, though, is that they offer vegan chicken nuggets!! Not a lot of bars have these, so it's definitely worth noting. 11/10 recommend that you stop in here while visiting Beacon! We absolutely loved it and would come back in a heartbeat!

It was founded by husband and wife Johnny Coughlin and Alyssa Follansbee. Coughlin is a cinematographer by trade while Follansbee is a public school art teacher. In 2011, the couple were both living in the Wicker Park area of Chicago. When the Emporium Arcade bar opened in their neighborhood, they both fell in love with the concept of an arcade bar. They later moved to New York City and visited as many arcade bars as they could with the intent to one day open one of their own. By 2018, the couple relocated upstate to Beacon to start a family. It dawned on them that Beacon would be a great location to open a "barcade". The couple didn't just want to open a place for adults to chase the nostalgia of their childhood, but rather a place that the whole family could enjoy. After securing a location on Main Street, and after a short delay from the COVID-19 pandemic, Happy Valley Arcade Bar finally opened to the public. I recently visited Happy Valley with my two sons while we were visiting Beacon. I've loved arcade bars since the first time I visited a Barcade location in 2014. I love sipping on excellent craft beers while enjoying the classic arcade cabinets of my youth. I also appreciate it when arcade bars are family friendly, as both of my sons have also taken an interest in arcade games. We all enjoyed the interior of Happy Valley with all of the crazy colors and spaceship-themed decor on the walls. There was a decent selection of classic arcade cabinets as well as pinball machines, both of which kept my sons occupied for a while. In addition to a nice selection of craft beer on draught, the bar also offers wine, craft cocktails, non-alcoholic options, and various bar bites such as chicken tenders, mozzarella sticks, and mac 'n' cheese bites. There were also plenty of seating options both inside and outside. We had already eaten lunch earlier, but I was definitely in the mood for some tasty brews while I played some games. I first enjoyed a Thin Man Brewery's "Pills Mafia" (German Pilsner) followed by an Old Glenham Brewery's "Weaver's Pale Ale" [on cask]. Both of them were flavorful and refreshing. We ended up staying for over an hour; it was nice bonding time for my sons and me. We will definitely stop in again the next time we're visiting Beacon!
