I was in the neighborhood yesterday and had a few hours to kill, so I decided to pop in and grab a much needed haircut. I am very glad I did. This is a small, but personable little shop in a great location. I had a very short wait, but the owner was very honest in saying that it can get a little longer during other time slots. Immediately upon sitting down, Dominic (owner) introduced himself and made it a point to make me feel right at home. The cut itself was very attentive to detail and comfortable. Good conversation and, as I mentioned before, very personable. For first timers (at least right now) haircuts are $15, $10 off the regular price. The end result was fantastic, definitely one of the better cuts I've gotten in the last few years. It's a bit out of my way, but I liked it so much that I told my girlfriend that I'll be making it a point to plan to get my haircut whenever she gets her nails done down the street so I can return. I recently went to Dominick as I saw he opened a shop near me and it was becoming costly and time consuming to have my hair cut in NYC where I work. Of course, it is always nerve-wracking to move to a new barber, but I could not be happier with the results! Dominick not only cut my hair exactly how I asked (as many guys can tell you, sometimes they either go too short, or not short enough) and he also cut it in such a way that even 2 weeks out now, it is at a perfect length. He also gave me a sample of a new styling product to try which I love and has helped to give me a more natural look I was going for. Finally, it is clear Dominick takes pride in his shop. It is inspiring to see someone take a chance and go out on their own and build a business from nothing. Truly the American dream. I highly recommend Barber & Co and will continue to get my monthly cut there. read more

Dom has always given me a quality haircut, has paid major attention to detail, and has always made sure that I was happy with my cut and experience before leaving the shop. My hair is impossible. And being a man with impossible hair is really annoying too. Mostly guys haircuts are just cookie cutter so to speak. But Dom figured out stuff about my hair and gave the best haircut I've ever had. Gotta love the atmosphere of the place too. Then a man walked in after me, and that same stylist immediately stood up and began cutting his hair without ever acknowledging me. I didn't want to cause a scene, so I stayed quiet, hoping one of the others would help. But the second stylist who is almost done with his client, instead of helping me, also avoided me and asked me to wait for the third person as if no one actually wanted to cut my hair. At that point, I felt so unwelcome and uncomfortable that I had to leave. I don't know if it was because I'm a woman, or because I'm Asian, or something else -- but I felt ignored, dismissed, and discriminated against.
