Barcade is a unique experience that combines retro arcade games and bar drinks and food ! There's no table service so you'll have to put food orders thru the bar and take your number to the table you want. The game selection varied from Wrestling to Alien (the movie) and everything in between! I ordered the nachos with chicken. It was a good portion to share and had a lot of flavor ! My only suggestion to barcade staff is that they need to be mindful of the conversations they're having near paying costumers. I had to move from the bar to a table bc I was getting grossed out listening to the staff talk about their ...."personal" lives and experiences to say the least. Just be a bit more professional. Not everyone wants to hear about your intimate wants and needs.

I loveeeedddddd the amount of games in this barcade. They have multiple player games as well as individual player games. If you like the classic pinball, pacman and old gun slinger games this is the bar for you. I also loved the large selection of beers, but I'd also love if there was a selection of non-alcoholic drinks like sodas.

It is about time to give this place a review! My partner and I come here at least a few times a month (maybe even weekly at this point). There are so many fun retro arcade games like pinball machines, pac-man, asteroids, racing games, and so much more. And all the games are only 25¢ or 50¢, so so cheap!! You could bring 10 bucks, cash them in for tokens, and be there for at least an hour. The vibes on weekend nights are super great. It's busy but not too busy. They also have drinks and appetizers foods for normal price. I always get a downeast cider and they are yummy. We can't recommend this place enough for a date night or a night out with friends!

Finally visited this Barcade location! What a great place. The ambiance is great - there's plenty of games but also adequate room to hang out without feeling squished into the place. Their beer list was also awesome - a good variety! They also had a non-alcoholic beer (or was it a cider?). Love that! Of course the games were amazing - we had a great time. An unexpected surprise for me was how good their food was! And I think quite a good deal for the price. I have some tokens left over so DEFINITELY will be visiting again!

Fun way to spend a Friday night! We decided to come here after our dinner in New Haven and had a great time. I like how you can easily redeem cash for tokens here at various locations- very easy. There's a nice variety of games especially old school ones. I loved playing dig dug & Galactica. I also loved how they had a 4 person pac man game too. Bar was a cool perk and had a lot of beers on draft. It was pretty easy to get a drink. All in all on a Friday night it was a good time! I think we would've stayed longer if there were more things to do- maybe some current games like Mario kart or guitar hero but the old school vibe is really nice. I'd come back!

Okay I have no idea how I've gone this long without going to Barcade or anything similar! I had SO much fun here. Between tetris, frogger, pacman, and mortal kombat, I could've been stuck here for hours! My sister and I got green tea shots and I got a beer to sip on. We came here after dinner somewhere else, so I don't know about the food here. I really had such a great time, I'd love to come back soon!

Fun games, mostly retro and a few more modern. Great beer selection, and the basic poutine was solid. Decent seating at the bar too. The bathroom needs a lot work. At least the ladies room. Like a wrecking ball, and a construction crew. Overall I had a lot fun, but I'd recommend bringing a pocket sized had sanitizer.

I haven't been to barcade since before the pandemic and I have to say it still holds up! The classic to newer arcade games are amazing and offers a good variety! They do have a bar filled with local and tasty beer with fun names so you can drink while playing. I remember the food being tasty as well, and their menu is still fun with some unique options. I highly recommend it for a fun date night or just a cool place to chill

Barcade is a small franchise of craft beer bars and classic video arcades that opened in Brooklyn, New York in October 2004. It was founded by business partners Paul Kermizian, Pete Langway, and brothers Kevin & Scott Beard. All of them had attended Syracuse University together. Prior to opening Barcade, Kermizian was working in the film/TV industry and had just completed and directed a documentary called "American Beer" in which he and some friends had a road trip across the country visiting different craft breweries. The Beard Brothers were working in graphic design while Langway was working in advertising. Together they often spent time drinking craft beer and playing classic 1980s arcade games which lined the walls of Kermizian's loft. Inspired to open a bar which focused on both things, they all promptly quit their day jobs, maxed out their credit cards, and began turning their dream into a reality. They acquired a former metal shop in Brooklyn's Williamsburg neighborhood and soon transformed it into Barcade. After opening, it was met with immediate acclaim. The partners soon trademarked the name 'Barcade' and today there are nine locations around the country. Each location features 40 to 75 arcade cabinets and pinball machines as well as 25 to 30 craft beers on draught. The New Haven location opened in May 2016. I recently stopped in at New Haven's Barcade after spending most of the day cycling. I arrived not long after they opened for the evening. I have been here several times since their opening weekend and it is one of my favorite craft beer bars in the city. Unlike the original location in Brooklyn, Barcade New Haven has a full food menu consisting of sandwiches, salads, and various appetizers. I was pretty hungry so I ordered the "Fat Whaler" (8 oz burger, clam strips, chowder cheese sauce, french fries, all in a sub roll) with a side of Hand Cut Fries. This was a monster sandwich but it was very tasty! It washed down well with a draught poor of Burlington Beer Company's "It's Complicated Being a Wizard" (Double IPA). Afterwards I ordered a pour of Captain Lawrence Brewing's "MOOD: DESIRE" (Hazy New England IPA) which had excellent dank and tropical notes! It paired well with some rounds of 'Rampage', 'Mario Brothers', 'Donkey Kong', 'Quick & Crash', and 'Stranger Things' Pinball. As always, I had a fun time at Barcade and I'll be back again and again.

Do they just serve beer or could I get a mixed drink/cocktail?

They have so many of the old school arcade games, a handful of pinball machines.

We walked in with no reservation on Valentine's Day (bold), and the manager couldn't have been more welcoming. Super friendly, got us seated quickly, and set the tone right away. That kind of hospitality matters. The vibe? Cool, modern, slightly moody -- perfect accidental Valentine's dinner energy. The service was on point all night. Attentive, smooth, and genuinely warm. Now let's talk about the moment that activated my Dominican DNA. I ordered the Sweet Plantains with Cilantro Aioli as an appetizer and when I saw plátanos on that menu? República Dominicana presente. . I felt seen. For my main, I had the Temple Salad and added a burger patty (because balance is important ). Fresh, flavorful, satisfying. My son ordered a burger with truffle fries and I am STILL thinking about those fries today. Crispy. Perfect salt. That truffle flavor hit just right. Those fries deserve their own review. And because it was Valentine's Day and I believe in celebrating myself too, I had the Pineapple Express. Divine. Tropical. Smooth. The kind of drink that keeps the gozadera going. We especially loved the Habanero Mango Shrimp and the Burger on Fire. The restaurant was clean and the staff is quite friendly. The only issue we had were the wait times and pacing. When we arrived, there weren't many people there (it was 4:00pm). We both ordered Woodford Reserve on the rocks and the drinks took 20 minutes to come out. Pouring bourbon into a glass over ice doesn't take any real time, so at most the wait should have been 5-10 minutes. The food also came out at weird times. We ordered the shrimp as an appetizer, and my husband's side salad that came with his steak came out first...which was fine. The shrimp should have come out with that. However, the shrimp and our meals all came out at the same time...so it was like BAM, FOOD! That was a little much. We did enjoy everything and had a nice dinner, but our one suggestion to the restaurant would be to work on timing. It can make or break a restaurant experience.

We arrived on a Monday around peak dinner time, but there was essentially no wait (apparently uncommon according to my friend -- just a delightful consequence of dining at a college town during the summer). We split a medium pizza (1/2 elote mexican street corn and 1/2 bbq brisket), proving to be more than enough for two plus a more than ample amount of leftovers. Recently, I've gravitated toward thinner pizzas, a far cry from the typical Detroit (foccacia-esque) style pizzas I used to prefer, and BAR's pizza is akin to a flatbread yet very thin, another fallen angel to the GLP's. The undercarriage boasts a brilliant crust, almost cracker-like. However, it should be noted that the pizza is indulgent all the same. The elote pizza is quite possibly the most memorable, unique pizza I've ever had; it arrives almost crimson-red with a generous layer of corn and takis atop. It's still incredibly well balanced despite the hodgepodge of varied toppings. It's hard to pick a favorite between this and the bbq brisket though; while one is incredibly unique the other is simply sumptuous, nothing pedestrian about either of the two. The service is also impeccable, almost rivaling that of southern hospitality. I always thought Californians were friendly but something is in the air every time I visit New Haven. Incredible!
