Despite common assumptions about the palates of South Georgia's residents and the prevalence of…read morechain restaurants and fast food, there are plenty of foodies out there, and quite a few ethical eaters who would love to see selections of better quality and more humane treatment of animals around them. They should all know about this farm! This is the store and farm for Thompson Farms; they also sell their stuff at Whole Foods, from my short bout of Googling about them. First off, Google Maps lies - this is way further down Dixie Rd, and you can't miss the sign. Luckily, the people at the store talked me through getting there the first time around, and they were super helpful. You'll come in on a well-kept dirt road, and see some of the best real estate given to pigs anywhere. No uninviting "Ew, this is a meat farm" smell, because they're fair about taking care of their pigs; they do it right. The products are somehow both cheap and amazing. Even the mild sausage has a bit of a kick, and the way it fries up was a revelation to me the first time I cooked it. You'll get an amount of drippings equal to what you get out of your average bacon - perfect for making a killer gravy, sauce, or soup. Speaking of bacon - it's very high-quality, traditional (no, there aren't three different wood smoke variations or, sadly, thicker cuts), and under six bucks for a pound. They even had some free-range eggs from the farm, good stuff. I haven't had the ribs, ham, or pork steaks yet, but considering this visit, that's on the agenda for later. Give these guys your money, put way better food on the table, and give the factory farms the boot!

You can find our fresh, smoked and fully cooked pork at our retail shop on our farm, online at www.thompsonfarms.com or in the meat department of your local Whole Foods Market. They had smoked pork chops tonight and were as equally complimentary! You can't go wrong with anything from Hubbard's Country Meats! My personal favorite is the cubed steak. Not tough or stringy and has great flavor!

The store opened in 2019 and I am sorry I didn't not learn about it sooner with the frequent trips we make to Thomasville. This has become one of our standard stops! They're open Tuesday - Saturday from 10 am - 6 pm. If you're traveling, bring a cooler bag and some ice packs because you're sure going to want to stop here! This store offers quality beef and pork, as well as spices, sauces, jams, jellies, syrups, and frozen foods and more! I'm just going to say that if you buy nothing else, try the cob smoked bacon! I'd never heard of cob smoked anything before and this opened my eyes! They actually smoke the bacon with corn cobs. It offers a delicious and hearty taste to your perception of bacon. The applewood smoked bacon is also a standout choice! The sausages are also wonderful too and deserve your attention. The Jalapeno cheddar sausage is spicy for sure. If you are sensitive to spicy heat, I'd say just order the smoked sausage. You cannot go wrong with that. The staff are as personable, friendly and know their products. They are helpful with the number of servings and how many pounds you need to accomodate. They package everything in a swift fashion and you know everything is fresh! I recommend this if you're local to the area or traveling for a day trip!

A beautiful drive through canopy roads 12 miles from Tallahassee will take you to Bradley's family…read morestore. Established 1927 and building is still there 3 generations later. Inside you will smell delicious gluten free and preservative free sausage. People come from all over the country to visit this store and to try their famous tractor milled grits. We took home hot pepper sauces and several preserves . They were so friendly here from the guys in back serving sausage dogs and links to checkout. Walking around the store is nostalgic for old time items like RC cola and small games from the 60s. Out on the porch are 4 rocking chairs and by the lake are places to picnic which we did with my parents who said they felt they were on vacation since it was so peaceful. Will definitely make a return visit when come back to Tally!

I can see why people drive from all over the state to pass the canopy roads to get here. The staff were very helpful in explaining what they were serving in the back of the store. They even had locally produced honey and milk in glass jars. After purchasing some merch to take home we sat on the picnic tables close by the lake . Will be returning the next we return to Tallahassee for their barbecue.
