I went there today to purchase a pair of shoes and no one really approached me about needing assistance. I've worked retail for 3 years and most customers appreciate that, so I sort of felt awkward being in there. Their selection seem okay but a lot of it looks slightly cheap. I'm surprised with the return policy as well 7 days to try the shoes out?? Seems a bit short in my opinion. I saw other reviews about how they've denied the return so I'm a little skeptical about even trying them on at home. As I was shopping around for the shoes I had to make conversation to the associates and there was one helping me while the other two stood there staring at me. While I was trying shoes on a girl walked in and wasn't greeted or acknowledged. It just seems slightly unprofessional and not a very approachable shop that I'd go back to. read more

Not impressed. Poor service and high prices. I'm female but used to always wear men's sneakers as they tend to be wider and fit my feet better. I have worked in high-end and specialty retail for several years, and most recently managed a store myself. I know what good customer service looks like and I don't mind paying a little extra to support a local business and receive excellent service. One of my biggest pet peeves is when I spend a long time helping a customer find the perfect pair of sunglasses and they say, "Can you write down the style for me? I'm just going to buy it online because it's cheaper." But Barefoot is one of those rare cases where you should just go buy the shoes online. Not only do they mark up their shoes more than other retailers, but the customer service is horrible. Oh well, it's not like I even have the option to shop here since they do not carry shoes under a Women's size 6 at all. I wear a size 5-5.5, which is usually considered to be a standard size, not a specialty size (one of my many retail stints was in the shoe department of a high-end department store, so I know that specialty sizes are generally considered to be under 5 or over 12). Ladies with large feet will not be happy either--the sizing stops at 10. A shoe specialty store should offer a wider range of sizes in at least some styles. I do like a lot of the shoes they offer here, but really, you can find them all elsewhere. And I swear that the clearance basement has had some of the same shoes on the shelves since I was in high school (I am now 24). Does the owner have a hoarding problem? Who knows. read more

I bought $80 shoes here, went back to return them within their 7-day exchange policy due to the size being too small, and the manager told me "there's nothing I can to" because I had worn them and couldn't be resold. When I bought the shoes, the sales lady explained the 7-Day return policy but not the "has to be in resellable condition". This place seems to be very out of touch and lack empathy for the demographic that it serves (College students). Bad business. If you're looking for a company that is understanding of its clients needs and hold high ethical values, Bare Foot is not the place for you. read more

Extremely poor customer service. Two girls and one guy were working when we went in (evening of 10/10/2018) and the no one greeted us. The girls ended up trying on shoes for themselves without asking if we needed help. The guy was so rude! Asked him if I could see it in a different size and he snatched the shoe right out of my hand. Honestly, if they were wearing name tags, I'd spill their names and complain to the boss. Customer service was trash along with their prices and employees :) read more

Went in a few moments ago after they opened. Two sales people having a passive agressive fight about when the male salesperson arrived for the shift. Such an uncomfortable atmosphere, I immediately left and was "greeted" with a "have a nice day." Too bad, I was waiting for my daughter so I could get her a couple pairs of Birkenstocks before I left State College. My recommendation to the two sales people bitching at each other? Put it aside when the customer comes in. I come to State College frequently and this is one place I won't go again. read more

I've gotten some of my favorite shoes here, on sale, at great prices. I got Lucky chunky heal sandals for less than what I could get them on sale on line (I checked before buying). Same thing w a pair of converse that were on sale (and those never go out of style). You've got to check every now and then, though, if you want the best price/style combo. Otherwise, the employees are super friendly and helpful and not high pressure. read more

It's disappointing when you want to support local business, but poor customer service leads to buying from the large retailers. My mom went to return a pair of boots my dad got her for Christmas because the kids also bought her boots from another store. They were unworn and perfectly packaged, but the staff gave her attitude for returning them and would then only offer store credit. Had he only shopped at Nordstrom or Zappos their $150 wouldn't be held up in store credit- such a disappointment. read more

I have gone into this store twice over the past two days looking for shoes to wear for graduation. Both times, the sales women did not ask if I needed help nor did they greet me. They basically just stood in a circle and whispered to each other, which made me feel extremely uncomfortable. I would not think to write a review, but this happened to me TWO days in a row. I left the store feeling uncomfortable and unsatisfied. There are lots of wonderful shoes at the store but I will never think about entering this unwelcoming business again. read more

Such a fun store! They have a TON of shoes. I was just looking for heels to go with a dress and the girls helped me find a pair that matched and that I would wear again - if you have a dress, bring it with you!! That helped a lot. And there's a LOT on the sales racks...very tempting!! SUCH cute stuff! read more

This place is a joke! Horrible customer service! While on vacation I purchased an amazing pair of shoes. I tried on the right shoe in the store since they were displayed as sale and was never shown the left shoe. When the manager rang up my purchase she stressed that shoes purchased on sale would be considered final sale. It didn't dawn on me to thoroughly examine each shoe...especially since I loved them and I NEVER return anything! When I got home and opened the box and saw that the left foot of the shoe was broke....obviously broke. I called the store and was advised by the associate Holly that the manager requested I bring in the shoe so they could see the damage. I brought the shoe back as instructed and showed the manager that had originally sold me the shoe the damage...she then told me I needed to make an additional trip back to the store to show the owner :/. I ended up getting the same shoes in a bigger size. What a hassle....and my sale shoes were 110$. Beware! read more

Where to even begin.. First of all, I wouldn't even give this store a star. I walked into the store and looked around for a while. Kept looking. No one helped us. I noticed a group of college students just standing like bumps on a log socializing to their friends that didn't even work there! What advice did they give me? Which pair of shoes they liked better. Yup. The staff is comprised of incompetent college students who couldn't be bothered to do anything than sit their and talk to to people. Now that that's done, the staff also has no knowledge of the products they are trying to sell. Apparently some of their shoes run big... no, actually they were too small. Oh, but this is the best part! Try to return something! The receipt says as long as it's within seven days, the shoes haven't been worn, and you have the receipt you can return them. Because the staff sold me something they had no knowledge of, I came back to return it. And what happens? I don't have the cheap, four sided, cardboard container that is the shoe box. I walk into the store to find some ignorant lady who won't let me return the lousy shoes. I had the receipt, the shoes weren't worn, and they were perfect. I guess it's too hard for some people to get up and get another shoe box, now isn't it. Well, I guess if all the staff can do is sit around and socialize all day, other people have caught on that their money can be spent somewhere where you can actually get help, instead of incompetent, ignorant, college students. Came in a few days ago with my daughters to look at dr martens. The sales associates were very friendly and helpful. My daughters weren't sure so we didn't buy anything but I will be back because I would much rather give my business to a small store like this than a corporation. read more
