I've had some mental health issues for as long as I can remember, and during my last pregnancy I struggled with it a lot. Working with Dr. Thompson was completely different. She took my mental health into serious consideration and made sure I knew how important it was for me to take care of that as well as my physical health. She is also the reason why I started seeing a therapist; as she heavily recommended it at the beginning of the pregnancy and that on top of my medicine management made the whole experience so much healthier mentally than my first pregnancy. I absolutely love Dr. Thompson and I'm excited to have her as my OB/GYN for years to come! Also, her nurse was incredible as well! Deliana (not sure how to spell her name, hopefully I got that right! Haha) also got back to me quickly about any questions (even stupid pregnant ones) I had.

Despite this, she brushed off my concerns and pushed birth control anyway, offering no real explanation, alternatives, or discussion- it felt like it was prescribed simply because of my age. I also never received my lab results and had to call weeks later to find out I had a yeast infection. I was told I didn't need treatment if I "felt fine," yet no one had informed me what symptoms to look for. When I asked questions, I felt talked down to instead of helped. Overall, I felt dismissed, uninformed, and unheard. I would not return to Dr. Abaigeal Thompson or recommend her to anyone looking for a provider unless you want someone who shoves birth control down your throat. Never ended up taking the many prescriptions- thank goodness!

We briefly discussed my wishes to have a natural birthing experience, but never really went in depth. As my pregnancy progressed I thought we needed to have a better understanding. I explained that I was most interested in a natural third stage. I wished for my placenta to self deliver to which he flat out stated no he wouldn't do that. As I questioned his reasoning he asked what he would be doing for 15-20 minutes while we awaited the placenta and laughed hold your baby. I replied, "no, I'd like to hold my own baby during that time." He then went on to explain how it wasn't physically possible for me to hold my own baby until the placenta delivers as the umbilical cord wouldn't reach. I was then left trying to find a new provider at 30 weeks. When I discovered FCMC it was such a relief. I knew by my first phone call with Linda that I would be in great hands. My prenatal care from there on out was exceptional. Christina made my birthing experience as pleasant as possible! The entire FCMC staff was truly a joy to work with!

I highly recommend Lovers Lane Birth Center! I chose LLBC as I wanted a natural birth for my first…read morebaby. From the beginning, everything was explained very thoroughly and my questions answered. The prenatal visits were very relaxed, not rushed. My options were explained to me, and I was always given the freedom to choose what I wanted to do. The Midwives at LLBC are all kind, patient, and knowledgeable. You get to meet with all three Midwives so that you are comfortable with whoever is on call when you go into labor. Krystal helped me so much along the way and referred me to a chiropractor, doula, and lactation consultant who were all professional and wonderful. The birthing center itself is nice and has a peaceful, relaxing environment. During my labor, Krystal was so patient and helpful. She explained everything that she was doing throughout the entire process, provided me with options, allowed me to make my own decisions, and answered my questions kindly. Due to failure to progress (I was not dilating past 3 cm despite multiple unsuccessful strategies to progress labor and change my baby's position.. he was sunny side up and stuck on my pelvic bone..) and prolonged rupture of membranes (it had been 20 hours since my water broke) Krystal recommended I transfer to higher level of care. Although the way I delivered was not how I planned, I was grateful to Krystal for recognizing the signs early enough to recommend the transfer before it became emergent. In the end I had a healthy baby boy and I'm grateful to the team at LLBC for their help! They have been wonderful postpartum as well!
