I highly recommend this sugaring business. Everyone is always efficient and professional. My experience here has always been positive. The only issue I have is the parking downstairs is super strict. If you are even a minute over 30 minutes, you have to pay $5. So I usually just ask to make it quick! They are located on the second floor to the left Otherwise, this is the most affordable sugaring location I've been to and it's so good for your skin! I've been coming to this shop for over 5 years, and for the last 3 years I've been scheduling with Karla--she is truly the best! She's professional, proficient, and extremely sanitary. Karla always makes sure I leave feeling cared for, and her confidence in her work shows in the results. I see her for sugar waxing (Brazilian and bikini), and I couldn't be happier. I was late by 10 minutes and still accomodated with kindness! The location is on the second floor of the plaza. My friend recommended Sherly, and I am glad she did because she lives up to her hype! She is very down to earth, and is very gentle in doing the sugaring. By far the easiest Brazilian I've ever had, and I've got really sensitive skin (prone to blackheads). 10/10 would recommend the sugaring done here, and 1000% recommend Sherly. :) You can call to book, or online was easiest for me. read more

I like this place because they do a good job, I enjoyed Shirley and I had pasley, she was really nice. I had two cancelations and they told me next time I need to pay those fees so I won't be back unfortunately because I'm not going to pay for it. I called ahead and canceled, it wasn't like I just didn't show. They called me after three min of being late as I was walking up the stairs & kinda pressed me for a tip which made me very uncomfortable. I naturally tip everytime because that's me. I just don't like when people ask for them. That's why I gave 4 stars They were due to car issues and I didn't just NOT show. However they do a pretty good job. They also have student discounts so I did like that. Today I got my Brazilian and I'm red which is normal, I've never had a bruise though so that is new. I used to go to the location in West Hollywood because that's where I lived at the time. They were great. No problems with the waxing. Easy and painless. I tried to book an appointment at the north Hollywood location and they tried to get me to put a credit card on hold. I told them no. Why would I give a waxing place my credit card number before having work done? No you can't have my credit card number to hold an appointment for an hour from now! The woman said it was because I had made an appointment before and canceled. I told her that I had made my very first appointment there but then switched it to the West Hollywood location because they called and it was closer to me and it's not my fault if their employees failed to cancel my appointment. The waxing was good and thorough but apparently their administrative mistakes become your problem as well. read more

I have been coming to lay bare for over 5 years. Sherly is amazing she has the kindest heart she so easy to talk to. Brazilian's can be sensitive and awkward. Sherly is so professional & waxing is painless. Brazilians are so much better then waxing and lay bare is such a good waxing place. I love coming here and place is always so nice and clean. It's located in cute shopping area as well. Parking isn't the greatest but that's studio city for you. I highly recommended this place for waxing!! There the best. Since posting the initial review, at least ownership reached out to discuss. I did leave word identifying that in fact I did have a appointment, but received no call back. I do appreciate ownership trying to address but the fact that I leaving a message yielded no further conversation perhaps goes towards indication that but I sure in my review it was fairly accurate. ***********+* A lot of hype; disappointing. When booking my appointment, gal on the phone sounded bored; no friendliness. When heading over, asked for "nearest major cross street", and was given an obscure small street. Asked again for specifics on where salon is located; receptionist failed to mention it was upstairs and not easily visible from street level if you don't know to look upstairs. Appointment was 7. Didn't finish previous client til 7:02 then spent 10 minutes waiting for clean up. No apology was given, though you can't show up late or you lose your appointment!! hmmmm... The gal who did my treatment was very adept, very caring, and way too talkative - she literally chatted, sang, whistled and hummed NONSTOP for an hour in between chattering about things that I never asked about and sharing personal information. It was a very odd experience - but it's not the first time that I've thought how inappropriate it is that clients are basically laying vulnerable on the table mostly naked to get our service... in pain of course as we are sugared and waxed... and technicians treat the situation like we're there to listen to them; self-centered. Inappropriate. They mean well - but think about it - ... They were incredibly fair on their pricing, was given a first-time 20% discount, and the treatment does seem to have been excellently handled. Had a slight allergic reaction to the tea tree oil they applied and the technician quickly gave me a washcloth to help sooth the situation. I tipped 40%. Sadly, the salon is in disrepair, the walls are scraped up, marked up, banged up, and the place has a used, downtrodden feeling (covering on the beds were torn, table was broken and wouldn't allow me to lie flat as is necessary for service). It was my first time in Brazilian Sugar Wax, but I used the services of Lay Bare (former name/former owner) in the Philippines, and I was so satisfied that I looked for them here in LA. Formerly, I had waxing services from other salons using hot wax and had terrible experiences getting slightly burned. With this first visit to Brazilian Sugar Wax, I felt at ease and had a great time since the therapists (or whatever you call those assistants) were experienced and pleasant. Now that the west Hollywood location is closed, I've followed Jenny here. If you've never tried sugaring, or have, but haven't tried it here, I'd highly recommend. Truly, there is no going back to waxing again for hair removal. Jenny is a pro, and every service I've had here is so fast and hurts SO much less than waxing, it is truly incredible. Been coming here for the past half year already for Brazilians (getting a different waxer everytime because I always had a sporadic schedule) and all of them are skilled but I never thought I could say that a Brazilian can be near painless until Sherly managed to make it feel exactly that way. Consider his as -1 rating. This is one of the most horrible place I must have ever been to where the staff is no rude, mannerless and unwelcoming. They are 0 on customer service. Id called to book an appointment- person who booked my appointment was pleasant. I showed up for appointment may be 3 mins late because of their expensive parking lot that charged 5$ for 2 hrs. After reaching I was told that the technician who was supposed to attend me was now with another customer. I was asked to wait for 15-20 mins. I was not addressed until 45 mins, when I go in person to check again regarding my turn. The first phrase the arrogant lady at the front asked without any apology or consideration, "so you want me to cancel the appointment?" Like seriously after waiting for that long that is all you have to say? It didn't end there. As I argued to request for another option/ I was told, 1. Wait for about 30 mins for the same technician to see you ( original apt was at 2:30 pm, now she is giving me 4pm) 2. Cancel the appointment, 3. Or I can do it for you "really fast" Like was I really there for more than an hour for this. When asked if she is competent in that case I would have got the job done from her- she said "I don't think so. Some say so." Most unprofessional salon I must have ever been to. If the owner is reading this- I'm very concerned for your business. If you get a chance review your cctv to know what your staff is doing. read more

This is my ultimate go to place for brazilian. Before Laybare, i would always switch salons, because I never liked one place. I tried European Wax, i tried Asian salons, I tried other national salons.. but i never stuck to one. When I tried Laybare when they first opened up, i never went anywhere else. Fiona, the owner, is very accommodating, once I did not know that i had so many packages in my account and all were about to expire, she fixed everything for me. They offer a lot of packages. Jazmin is my go to technician. She's very gentle and i'm out in 15 mins or less... depending on my hair... Oops. They are now always fully booked. I used to call same day and get a spot. First time sugaring and I'm in love. I usually wax, but sugaring was much less painful and pretty thorough. Lol. Plus it's much more affordable! It's $40 for a Brazilian and then $30 a month if you buy their membership. I usually pay $60 for a wax! Jenny did mine and she was absolutely amazing. She made the entire experience very pleasant.
