I arrived a few minutes early to a calm and empty salon for an 8:30 am appointment. This was actually a comforting scene as I was nervous for the waxing. I found this cool waxing studio on Groupon, and I've just found a new go-to place for eyebrows. Cristina is such a cool gal! She did a great job shaping and tinting my brows. I feel and look so much better! Her studio is on the south side of Ventura just east of Woodman. Her prices are crazy reasonable: $35 for eyebrow wax and tint combo. She's also the only person who's ever taken before and after photos for me -- I made sure to post them. Cristina's studio is comfy, cuddly, and cool. Her personality is laid-back, relaxed, friendly, down to earth, and real. To be honest, I walked in for my appointment in a really down mood (like stop on the way home and pick up tequila kind of down). But our conversation served to give me renewed focus, energy, and a more positive outlook on my job situation (work problems were what was getting me so down). Unfortunately I have to give this place 1 star because I got my skin lifted from waxing. This was my first time trying face waxing and I did not know that I shouldn't be using products including retinol, BHA or AHA prior to the waxing procedure. She didn't inform me or give me a consent form. When she realized my skin was lifted during the procedure, she asked me if I'm using any of the products listed above and if I wanted to continue getting face waxed. I saw my face in mirror but it didn't look too bad at that moment so I let her continue. That was my mistake. After I'm back from the procedure, I started to feel the pain and the affected area became really red. I'm applying antibacterial cream and Aloe Vera gel but I'm scared if it leaves any scars :( Im pretty sure her technique is very efficient and effective but I wish she informed me the risk before she started the procedure. read more

Cristina does great work! The whole experience and services were amazing. There was a miscommunication with scheduling, but it didn't bother me too much. She is a single mother local to L.A. and was courteous about the mistake; I understood and didn't mind rescheduling to the next day. Cristina did her work quickly and efficiently and even went back with tweezers. Asked me more than once if there were any spots that she would like for me to touch up. It didn't hurt much, but I've been waxing at home for over a year and decided to get a professional service. She does her work out of a small room at a Salon. Her workspace was clean, she did a good job cleaning and prepping my skin. Wooden sticks were also changed frequently. I was also given a water and a seltzer drink after she was done. Pretty negative experience with this small owner who seems to be stretched incredibly thin at the moment and tends to be unkind/irrational when she confuses her own communication / schedule. Right now she's working out of a "temporary salon and asked my opinion about working out of a salon that smells strongly of marijuana and feels rather unsanitary. Pricing is reasonable and the service offered is adequate, but with everybody challenged in their own world right now - kindness and patience goes a lot further than her tendency to be abrupt and unkind. With plenty of other salons now open post quarantine, her unkindness seems especially unnecessary. The Owner unfortunately is so unhappy with the Yelp review she is venting to several other businesses her upset. I wish her well and am sad she feels the need to misrepresent facts. I have not tried to contact the Owner nor called her since she cancelled our last appointment, and I am sad she is not assessing her concerns directly with her client rather than writing false information. Yelp is here to protect customers and it is a subjective platform, in the hopes of creating some way for consumers to address challenges. Waxology chose to cancel an appointment and offered to reschedule me "if I paid for the cancelled appointment". The owner is aware of this as she has text that validate the truth of what happened and I have not tried to see her or contact her since but instead chose to leave a review making clear that the miscommunications and charging me for her own cancellation we're not helpful. Cristina Maria is the BEST waxer in LA! I was growing my hair out for 1.5 weeks on my lower legs because I'm tired of shaving and waxing makes the hairs grow back slower and in some cases, eliminates hair growth completely. She powders your legs first (which no one has ever to me done before) and uses a hard wax which takes the hair out with less pain. I would highly recommend her services. This is a long, overdue review!! I've gone to Cristina about 4 times now for a lash lift and tint. For many years I was afraid to stop getting extensions until I met Cristina and she did the procedure on me before I went on vacation. I thought my lashes were too short, but with the lift, they are just as long as my extensions minus the annoying upkeep and costly price! Everyone is different, but for me, I don't have to use mascara till about the 3rd week and even then, it's a light coat- see photo attached. Prior to lash extensions, I would need to use a eyelash curler and about 5 coats of heavy mascara for somewhat of a lift. Just putting things in perspectives so you can truly understand how amazing the lash lift is and works! Cristina is so gentle, she's quick and super flexible with her schedule! I'm so excited to have found this waxer! Christina was so professional and sweet! I started waxing recently and my first wax left me with a ton of extra hair took 40 min and was the third most painful experience of my life! They weren't every empathetic that it was my first wax ever. On top of that they couldn't fit me in for my next appointment because they "didn't have their schedule on them". Not the right thing to say to a girl with a full on bush that's uncomfortable as you could imagine. I searched for a new place on Groupon and cross referenced with yelp! This experience was way better hands down. It took all of ten min and Christina talked to me the entire time about life as well as including facts about the process. Also she uses hard wax and it wasn't nearly as painful as it was the first time around and I had shaved in between waxing! This wax doesn't stick to your skin so the only pain is caused by the hair follicles being ripped out and not the wax ripping the skin! I'm super happy with my results!
