Pros: lowest price $15 with groupon and clean facilities with free parking. Very nice staff and the waxing held up for weeks without irritation after. Cons: brazilian hurt pretty badly during, and immediately after, then it subsided. But during! Yikes! I thought I had a good pain tolerance. Let's just say I kept trying to clear my mind of the guy's review below that spoke about being able to feel the hairs being slowly plucked from their follicles. I've been coming here on and off for years - you can't beat the prices, it's in a convenient location and every waxer I've had has been competent and friendly! First timers: I promise waxing isn't as painful as you think, and the results are so worth it. Shout-out to Jayla, who did my most recent Brazilian wax - she's new at Lay Bare, and I was shocked to discover she's only been sugaring for two weeks. She was super gentle and thorough, and our hilarious conversation distracted me from any discomfort! Can only recommend her. Parking is available in the garage under the building, but it's $2 after the first 30 minutes and I generally haven't had the best experiences with the attendants. I come here every month for my brazilian wax! All of the staff are really friendly but Ruth is my favorite. She's super sweet, makes you feel comfortable, and is SO quick! I'm out of there in 15 minutes. They have great prices too - only $35. If you park in the underground lot, I usually just let the valet staff know I'll only be 20 minutes or so and they'll let you park for free in one of the spots. OUCH - OUCH - OUCH!!! I'd never experienced sugar waxing before and after this experience, I think I will stick to the hot wax. My lady was very sweet and this salon was very clean. She (I forgot her name - sorry) did a wonderful job but this wax hurts like hell. The worst part is that the wax is pulled off slowly (instead of quickly like the hot wax). OUCH! She told me that I should try it a 2nd time because I guess it hurts less after the 1st time. Yeah....not for me....but you should give it a try if you have high tolerance for pain. read more

I love this place. When I lived nearby, I used to walk here (used it as an excuse to get some steps in and it was only a 20 minute walk) but I am sadly no longer within walking distance (I tried the location closer to me after I moved but they closed down after I'd only gone once). Whenever I make an appointment I don't ask for anyone specific because I am terrible at planning ahead for things like this and always make my appointment max 3 days before (I always tell myself I'll get a wax every month but it usually ends up being every 2-3 months.... I may also have a problem with procrastinating). Today, I had Jenny and she is great! I honestly think I will actually (finally) have my go-to girl for my waxes. It honestly felt a bit less painful than my previous waxes, it felt quicker (checking my messages, my Brazilian took only a bit over 10 minutes somehow!!), she is a chatterbox (in a good way!) and so fun and sweet! If anyone's a fan of sci-fi and you don't have a designated person, definitely ask for Jenny (we talked Doctor Who once we discovered our mutual love of it - great distraction from the pain haha). Aftercare was great (that cold towel is a slight shock even with a warning but so good). read more

Finally went to my first waxing appointment, EVER and my experience was fabulous. Gloria helped me with a bikini wax and I was in an out within 30 minutes. Being that it was my first time in a waxing salon, I didn't know what to expect. Gloria immediately made me feel comfortable even though I was nervous beyond belief and naked from the waist down (hence, "lay-bare"). You might be thinking, oh lord I don't want them looking at my goods... remember that this is their job, so it's nothing they haven't seen before. I actually felt more comfortable here versus the gyno. EEK! Expect some level of pain, but nothing excruciating - you're pain will only last a few minutes if that. Prices are reasonable, and there is street & garage parking. Gloria mentioned I'd be addicted after my first appointment, and she wasn't lying one bit! I'll definitely be back for all my lady waxing needs. Follow their instructions for pre/post wax, and make sure to tip. read more

I absolutely love it here when i book with jenny or sherly, theyre wonderful. A few days ago i went with Karla as a last minute option and i have never had a worse experience. She literally left a patch of hair. I could understand if the hair was too short or hard to get, but she could have said something. When she held up the mirror she had her hand literally covering the area, and i didnt notice till i got home and honestly have been in shock. Theres never a reason that she should have been pulling as hard as she was also. I spoke with a friend who i recommended this place to and she said she was bruised by Karla. Came here today and got full legs, Brazilian, buttocks, face, underarms, and threaded for eyebrows..Danielle did my eyebrows and face..and Hanna did everything else..When I tell you that NOT 1 piece of hair was left in my body..this place is beyond my expectations...I go to a spot all the time in ATL but now since I'm back here in La...new spot..Hanna took her time and got into the crevices of my butt and vagina and made sure all the hair disappeared! It's hard to make an experience enjoyable when you are getting your hair pulled out from your nether regions . I had heard a lot about sugaring before I started. A lot of my friends told me that it's less painful and they were correct. Sugaring is far more bearable than waxing. I don't even know why a person would choose to wax. Danielle made the experience very easy and it was not awkward at all. Be aware that depending on your hair length and the texture of your hair, it does take a bit of a while, however I would choose this any day over going to European wax center or any waxing place. I have sensitive skin that always gets irritated by shaving, and I had a really bad experience the one time I got a Brazilian wax so I thought I was out of options when it came to grooming down there. Then a friend recommended sugaring, and I found a discount for Lay Bare on the Fit for Bucks app so I decided to give it a try. I was nervous because of the above mentioned negative waxing experience, but sugaring was so much better! Despite how their actual service for waxing is their Customer service sucks. They did not inform me that they had a 10 minute rule where if you don't make it within 10 minutes after your appointment time that they will automatically cancel you. this was my 1st time here. So unfortunately I did not know exactly where the location was it set me to a Wells Fargo but I had to go behind it for the parking lot and then walk up to the 2nd floor so I arrived apart at 7:39 PM my appointment was at 7 that's 730 so as I was walking up to the spot and it hits 740 they set me a text stating that my appointment was canceled even though told it even though I was basically in the facility I just had to walk upstairs and check in and it would have been still 740pm. So either they just don't want to work for now or they just like to turn away their customers cause as for a rule that day I was not informed of it's not informed of to give me a little lme a little leeway couldn't hurt but instead they just stray out refused my service so I will not be coming to the spot ever again read more

I started sugaring not long ago and hadn't it been for Lay Bare I probably won't even try it. I've realized now that it is a painless process and the results are amazing! Their salon is beautifully clean, so hygienic and service is exceptional. Danielle made me feel so comfortable considering that it was my first time to try a Brazilian wax. She went over the whole process and made me so calm that I enjoyed the experience. I've been coming monthly and my life has changed for the better. I've also come to try their products and I can't live without the deodorant, exfoliating cream, whitening cream and feminine wash. I am glad they're conveniently available on Amazon too! Couldn't get my first waxer (Hannah) for my second time coming in for a Brazilian so I was a little nervous about the change in staff but Jenny was wonderful and did the job just as beautifully as the first. Really made sure to tweeze out all the stubborn hairs even though it wasn't completely necessary and was super accommodating as well. Under 30 minutes too. Would definitely recommend Jenny if you need long/ongoing conversation to get through the pain. She's so sweet and there was never an awkward minute with her. Only thing was that the receptionist that day was a little unwelcoming over the phone but I definitely understand if she's a new worker since I didn't see her behind the desk my first time coming around. My experience with setting up an appointment with them was horrible and at the end of the call when I asked her if you can't be accommodating maybe you don't want my business and she goes sure no problem. And mind this is after I gave up on opting for one of their packages and asked them how they can accommodate my business over two days. BEST WAX I'VE EVER HAD. PERIOD. I found this place as a result of not wanting to ever go back to European Wax Center. I scheduled a Brazilian and underarm appointment and was assigned to Jenny for a sugaring on a workweek evening. The location is in the heart of Studio City in the plaza where California Pizza kitchen is on the second floor. There's FREE valet on a side street entrance for 90 minutes with validation, which is awesome. Also, they offer car washes for $25, which I also would've took advantage of but it would've taken longer than my appointment so maybe next time! When I walked in, there was a noticeable calm and relaxed energy. It's a small storefront with, I believe, 3 rooms, but not entirely sure. Once I got to my room, I noticed it was clean, inviting, and smelled like coconuts. I was met with Jenny within the first few minutes of entering the room. She was bubbly, cheerful, genuine and welcoming. I disrobed and got on the table and unlike other salons, Jenny placed a towel over me, which was really spa-like, and 100% appreciated. I felt like I was in a spa instead of a gynecologist's office like I normally feel at other wax salons. Major bonus points! I told Jenny that I might have to skip the underarm wax because I'd shaved for a night out a few days before and didn't the regrowth was negligible to wax. I mean at 3 days of growth, there wasn't much, but Jenny said she would try and get what she could and at the very least, some is better than no removal, at least for future sessions, which I agreed. So we went forward with the underarms. Shockingly, I didn't realize this woman is also a magician. She was able to successfully wax the entire underarm areas clean. No leftover hair. Zero. I was in shock and disbelief. There must have been 3 mm long hairs we were working with. I was in utter disbelief. Moving on the Brazilian went just as smooth. Pun intended. Not only did she go over every inch with the laser focus of the Hubble space telescope, but after she even got her tweezers out for any rogue vigilantes. I can't emphasize how impressed I was with the attention to detail. She went from front all the way to that back just to make sure I was smoother than glass, which I am. And she even put soothing tea tree and chamomile oil on after each portion was treated. Jenny and I chatted the whole way through the session and I had a blast, if that's even possible at a waxing salon. She's cool, funny, professional, and thorough. Not sure how much more you can ask for in a wax specialist. Overall, I highly recommend this place for all the reasons above. Most of all, the results blew me away. I've never experienced a better wax as good as this. Maybe it was the sugaring maybe it was the specialist maybe it was Maybelline. Just kidding. Anyway, you gotta check them out.
