I've been coming here for a couple years now for really anything kitchen supplies related. The main reason? These guys have the best selection, great customer service and the cheapest prices. Even better than Amazon in most cases. This location is a little harder to get in and out of due to it's location, so to those that have complained about wait time or hassle with parking go try out their new location on Pico. One of our favorite bargain stores to pick up kitchenware. Found a 12" wok today for $18! It's a better deal than what I tend to find at Marshall's. We usually also pick up some cool drinkware, plates, and utensils. Prices are between what you'd find at target to a flea market. Depending on what you're looking for, it's an ideal place for every day basic use for serving and cooking needs. Highly recommend for the cook in your house. read more

I shopped here between 2002-2007 and prices were great. I recently returned and purchased $150 worth of white plates for a party to serve appetizers. All the plates were "seconds" ie. had lumps or ripples in them, but I figured I was getting discount prices so I went with it. A week later I was at Crate and Barrel and they had comparable items (without defects and better quality overall) for less than what Bargain Fair was charging. Bargain Fair have a great selection but they are not "bargain" if you compare with World Market (very cheap) or Crate and Barrel at the Grove. Ripped off totally. This place isn't any more reasonable than any reputable place in town. I bought a Cuisinart food processor. The price was at retail. Here's what they don't bring to your attention. The receipt says 7 day return along with a bunch more criteria that makes it impossible once you leave the store to return even defective or broken in the package items. So thinking they would be fair because what I bought was broken when we opened it I went back and surprise the owner lady red me the riot act. Then one of her male employees threatened me and I am in my late 70's. Called me old man and he didn't care he would hurt me. Brave boy told me to leave or he would take care of me personally. I did nothing to provoke this attack. I talk with my hands and he shouted don't point your finger or else. I told him and the owner if they continued this I would call the police. They are dishonest and my recommendation is don't go there ever. I get along with everyone and if I'm treated like this then they will treat anyone like this. This store just keeps getting better. I am never disappointed. They really have every thing you need for any meal. Old school and new school types of products. The prices are as good as you can get. Their stock is high quality and their white dishes of all sorts NEVER chip. If you are freaked by well stocked stores or a lot of other customers then you should prepare yourself for small aisles with LOTS of great merchandise that may be crowded. All the folks that work there are very helpful and sweet. If you ask them for a product they go out of their way to open boxes and run up the stairs to find what you may need. Treasure trove would sum up the shopping experience at Bargain Fair. Added bonus..... all the hot new chefs in town are dashing in and out getting supplies! read more

This place is a real LA gem. I've been going for years, both to purchase stuff for the restaurant I run as well as to stock my own kitchen. I have never received anything but the most courteous, professional service, and the product selection is fantastic. I honestly don't know why anyone would buy Kitchen stuff anywhere else. Over the years I've also gotten to know Sheida (the owner) and her family. Fantastic people, running a great local business. Is there sometimes a little bit of a wait? Yeah. Is it a one-stop shop? No. But it's got practically everything you need to stock a home kitchen and a lot of what you need to stock a restaurant. Plus it's a local business, responsibly run by good people. I LOVE this store!! Been coming here for years and have practically restocked my kitchen with dishes, glassware, serving pieces... Totally my go-to place for everything for the kitchen. More than that, I've recommended it to many friends all of whom are thrilled with what they've purchased. They've even found things (wonderful pedestal soup bowls with lions heads) that I hadn't seen and I had to go back and get them too! I even have a friend who bought a vacation home and came here to furnish their entire kitchen with great things! Now all I need to do is make room in my cabinets for more! read more

My wife and I went there yesterday to look for a salad bowl and a set of salad servers. We ended up buying a wooden set for a total of about $55 plus tax. Surprisingly, we could have gotten a somewhat nicer set at Sur la Table, a few blocks away for a couple of dollars less. However, we did not have the time to do so. This Bargain Fair store was stuffed with many items, and they had a lot of white bowls in different shapes and sizes for considerably less, but my wife wanted the wood. That was even though the white ones (I don't know if they were glass or some ceramic material) were labeled as microwave and dishwasher safe, so they were more versatile. We parked in a pay lot a short distance down Fairfax away from Beverly Blvd., and our parking ticket was validated by Bargain Fair. They only validate if you buy at least a certain amount--not a lot, but you have to buy something to park free (which is reasonable). When I called about parking and store hours, someone answered the phone (which can be a rarity in LA) and gave me the information. Also the checkout clerk seemed knowledgeable about how to clean and care for the wooden bowl and willing to take the time to discuss it with my wife. I'm only giving Bargain Fair only 4 stars though, as their prices on several items, such as plain glass drinking glasses, were much too high. I had bought glasses identical to some of those for much less at K-Mart recently. It seems to me that a store that has "bargain" in their name should at least have competitive prices on such items. read more

If you don't go in to buy something specific, you'll spend a couple of hours just looking. It is such a fun place to browse and I'm just an everyday cook-at-home type. From dishtowels to coffee makers to gorgeous platters to small appliances, they've got it. We even shop there for party raffle prizes. The prices are more than reasonable and because of the selection, there's everything for very inexpensive to pricey. The only problem is when you're going down the aisles, you have to "think thin" because they're quite narrow. read more

Bargain Fair carries lots of merchandise with great prices. They have a wide variety of dinnerware that my wife enjoyed choosing from. They also have lots of glassware to choose from including mini sizes. I was also able to find the mold to make round ice for my drinks! This store has lots of cool merchandise for a fair price! I bought two boxes of tea spoons (2 dozens total) from this place. Brought them home and before placing them in my utensil drawer I rinsed them with warm water (no detergent). Once they were dried, I noticed that two of them were chipped. I called them the next day and explained to them that some of the items are chipped and I want to return them. The woman I spoke with said as long as you have the receipt, it will be alright. I drove 30 miles to the store to be told, by the same woman, that because they are rinsed, they can not take them back. I had the receipt, the box and all the plastic bags the individual spoons came in, nevertheless, she didn't let me exchange them with a different brand. I have never heard anything like this and was never treated by a vendor this way. She exchanged two spoons that were chipped and that was that. This place has items that are defective. Be careful what you pay for. Inspect the smallest item, because once it's out of the store, they won't take them back. read more

Their prices are o.k., but they aren't friendly. I went in to exchange two sink stoppers, and I was treated like a criminal. I was able to make the exchange, but not without harrassment. The late middle-aged woman at the cashier is very disgruntled, and does not have a clue about courtesy or good customer service. read more

Be VERY WARY. If you want to return an item that costs $40.00 and above, the establishment's staff will ALWAYS find an excuse NOT to refund your purchase (it really doesn't matter if the item is in PRISTINE condition). I tried to return a $70.00 purchase on 10/16 and the store manager, after looking at the receipt and NOT at the item, immediately refused to provide a refund. When I asked why, the response was simply that the item had been "used". In what clearly was a well-honed, smoke-and-mirrors routine that had been used multiple times, the store manager asked an employee to "look" at the item. He spent an inordinate amount of time looking at the item before declaring that it had a spec of "food" and a "scratch" on it. Maybe I need glasses because neither was obvious. This practice probably warrants further investigation from a legal standpoint...but the best part of all? 1.) I had been purchasing inexpensive items there for the past DECADE (doesn't this make me a valued customer?); and 2.) Calls to management/ownership are not returned. Clearly, we're dealing with some very questionable practices at this establishment because returning much cheaper items has NEVER been a problem on other occasions. Shop elsewhere for your bigger-ticket items - or kiss your hard-earned money goodbye. read more
