This is a Pizza Section & Customer Service review. I looked @ Chef's Toys online for a # can rack. It had a Cambro product that fit my needs so dropped into the local store to see if they carried or could at least order. I asked a sales clerk about it, showed him the website with model number, but he wasn't sure if it would be available. He asked for my name and number to follow up so I gave him a business card. I have a hard time believing he NEVER called me back. I think CR does have a lot of products and it is fun to see all the toys we chefs like to play with. And yet as far as pizza is concerned I've been underwhelmed by their offerings for variety and depth. Now that's understandable. Great place for reasonably priced bakeware! I was looking for a tart pan and a cheesecake pan and found them at Chefs's Toys, priced below what Amazon would charge! They have a great selection of stuff for the kitchen. Will totally come here the next time I am looking for something. Free parking out front. One with glasses spent 3 mins in my aisle and said nothing even when I looked clearly lost/ searching. But I'm a 6'3" bruh looking for one knife. This place has an alarm that goes off every night, for the past 4 years I've lived nearby. With that, it's safe to assume there's some rodent infestation that sets off their motion detector alarms, which is disgusting because this is a restaurant supply company. I've tried to inform them of the problem, they've somewhat acknowledged they have this rodent problem but have refused to resolve it. The alarm still goes off every night. If I were a restaurant, I would hate to find that my equipment supply company has a rodent infestation and they refuse to address the problem. I have been working close to this store for 6 months now and I have always wanted to check this place out to see what they have and today I finally walked in there and I am very happy that I did. The actual store is on Sepulveda but the parking for customers is on Cotner which might create some confusion. But aside from that, this store is really cool. They have everything from giant grills to salt and pepper shakers to restroom signs... I mean everything that a new restaurant owner would need to open his/her restaurant. Chef's Toys is an aptly named culinary playground of warehouse proportion, a business I'd been driving by since it opened but never stopped, intimidated by the parking lot that's diagonal head in but necessitates backing out into southbound Sepulveda Boulevard traffic to exit. Stay safe, grab a two-hour meter on the east side of the street. No, I didn't jaywalk, I did it right, used Olympic Boulevard's crosswalk and chalked up some extra fitness. Chef's Toys has everything to start a restaurant, increase your host/hostess or home cook cred from multi-burner stoves, pots, pans, utensils, flatware, glassware, white out china, an extensive baking supplies inventory, even a stainless steel ice bucket to re-purpose as a planter (like I did) for just a tad over $20. Staff will allow you to browse but if you have questions, they'll be answered quickly, pleasantly. Price points are competitive with other suppliers. As an average person, who is not in the restaurant business I was surprised by the reasonable prices and high quality items when compared to a Williams Sonoma or even a Sur La Table. Easy to navigate and well laid out, with a good amount of off-street parking (shared with other businesses). One tip - knife sharpening is only $3.40 per knife, which is about market rate and it you drop it off before 11am on a weekday, you should be able to pick it up the following afternoon. read more

It's not a very expensive knife ($70) but I love it and it has big sentimental value to me. I use a honing steel on a regular basis but the knife had never been professionally sharpened since I bought it 2+ years ago, so it was a bit dull. However, there was absolutely NO DAMAGE to the blade. Until I had it sharpened at Chef's Toys. I dropped it off on a Saturday before Memorial Day and was able to pick it up on the following Tuesday or Wednesday. As soon as I got home and unwrapped the knife, I noticed a piece of the tip missing and the bevels were not uniform anymore. I called the store and ended up driving there to show them the knife. They did not apologize and even asked how the blade was before, insinuating the missing tip was already there. They did not offer to refund me the $4 or so that I paid to have the knife sharpened and simply kept the knife to have the sharpener try to "fix" it. I got a phone call a few days later from the store. The lady told me the knife was ready. I asked how it looked and she said she could "see a tip now." I am just returning from the store where I went to pick up my knife for a second time. Sure, there is a tip but they had to grind the spine of the blade to recreate a tip. Not only is the spine not straight anymore, it also feels and looks unfinished (as if they did not bother to finish at a higher grit). I asked the lady at the counter whether the sharpener had said anything and she said he did not leave any note or said anything. I told her I would have appreciated, at the very minimum, an acknowledgement that he f***** up and a simple "sorry." At that point, she could have apologized on his behalf but did not. She did not offer to reimburse me for the value of the knife or refund me the $4 I paid to have it sharpened either. It felt like they did not even care they had damaged my knife So, so disappointed. I live closer to, and generally shop, at Surfas. They're pricey, yes, but also knowledgeable, enthusiastic about their work, and professional. But I've been driving past Chefs' Toys for a while, and finally had a moment to stop in. Nice selection. I was in need of a longer wok spatula, and they had two right next to each other: 16" ($5.40) and 19" ($10). I compared them, opted for the shorter one, and went to check out. There was no SKU on the spatula, so even though I knew the price, the young man at the register ran back to double-check. Then he came back and proceeded to charge me $10. I told him it was the shorter one. He told me there was only one size (HE'D JUST GONE BACK AND LOOKED). I politely (disbelievingly) explained that I'd compared, since I don't use a large commercial wok at home. The kid threw me a dubious look and actually went to get a tape measure. He started measuring and I put my wallet back in my pocket and started to leave. At which point: "Okay, okay, I'll charge you the $5.40." I needed the spatula for that night, so I turned around and bought it. Note: there was never an apology, or any acknowledgment of his error or seriously inappropriate behavior. Really a pity. I wanted to like you guys. Surfas is expensive, but it's also a class act. You wanna compete with them, then I'd suggest you find some professionalism and courtesy.
