Came here on the reccomendation of a friend. Things were going fine for about ten minutes, though I was disappointed at the music selection but that's not their fault. Then some guy came up to me and told me I had to leave my purse at the front. So I said directly and politely that I was not going to leave my purse with my medical device and wallet inside, and he got defensive and told me I didn't "have to be rude about it". Which I wasn't. I'm sure certain men aren't used to being spoken to with directness and authority by people who aren't also men, but additionally it was clear that this individual had made assumptions about *MY* gender, because nobody else around who very clearly presented as a woman was being asked to leave their purses and handbags up front. Directly after this confrontation some nearby customers began making fun of me, suggesting that I was going to get robbed in this neighborhood now that people knew I had valuable items in my purse. Listen, I get that certain establishments feel they need to control the potential for theft by asking for bags to be left up front, but two important points. 1.This is not actually a legally enforcible policy in Philadelphia County, nor is it a policy for which you can legally eject customers if they refuse to comply (known colloquially as "shopkeeper's privilege".) Don't be mistaken: the "we reserve the right to refuse service for any reason" myth is just that: a myth. Your reason must be legal. and 2.If you are going to attempt to enforce a policy, you must do it equally to all genders and gender expressions without exception. This is PARTICULARLY important in Philadelphia County, where gender identity is a protected class by law. In both cases you open yourself up to legal action. I've purchased a couple of things from this thrift store and they have a lot of beautiful items all sizes for all body types, shoes for all foot sizes. I love that they have outstanding service and everything is at an affordable price. They have all the way up to toys for children, clothes for children stuff that's slightly use barely anywhere in terror. And they have an amazing selection of antiques and houseware especially if you're like a new person move in all you have to do is just soak and wash stuff and it's brand new. I would definitely recommend coming cause they need a day where they sell out. read more

This store is a true neighborhood gem! Fantastic selection of housewares, decor, records, and vintage items, and a surprisingly large section of women's plus-size clothing, which is rare. The staff are friendly and helpful, and know the regular shoppers by name. I especially appreciate their commitment to helping with fundraisers for local charities and nonprofits. While the price of all goods and services across all industries has been going up, the prices here are still very fair compared to what the big chains like Goodwill and Savers are charging these days. Keep in mind the store has to pay rent and pay the staff to sort and price all of that stuff, too! I wish more thrift stores were as committed to serving the local community as this one is. read more

This thrift store used to be a gem in the community--warm, welcoming, and full of familiar faces. We loved seeing our favorite cashiers and always felt at home. But lately, that feeling is gone. Prices are up, the energy has shifted, and the Black community no longer feels welcome. Being followed like suspects is disrespectful--and we see it. The new owners are not shining. The heart is missing. A boycott should take effect immediately. read more

OKay, So, I've been coming to this thrift store for ages....I mean literally for ages.... My last visit was on 5/24/19. This used to be my go-to-for vintage clothing. Well, no, wait, it still is my go-to for vintage clothing and/or regular clothing in general but you are guaranteed to find that vintage look that you may/may not be looking for the only thing is...is that the prices for vintage get up is a little pricey, but folks will pay for what you want. I came in here for something specific which was hopes of finding a small used portable cooler and there it was a red small portable cooler perfect for a quick road trip that I had planned. Anyhow, in addition to this store having what I was looking for, they also had an antique high chair, treasure chest, authentic pots and pans, glass dishes, books, shoes, pocketbooks...you name it. This thrift store holds dear to my heart because I used to come here when I was a younger girl and this store will always be one of my favorite thrift stores. read more

I have made extraordinary finds & purchases here - the following is but a small sampling - Tableware - over 30 vintage coupe Champagne glasses (several sets), several Lenox vases & a Lenox cake stand, Chicago Cutlery carving fork, set of Schonwald dishes... Cookware - Le Creuset oval roaster, beautiful Naaco enameled cast-iron baking dish with lid, All-Clad roasting pan... Small appliances - a vintage electric pizzelle-maker (which I gave as a gift), , my hand mixer, another hand mixer in its original box (also given as a gift)... Clothing - Evan Picone trench coat with removable lining, every cashmere sweater I own (who would pay $150 - $500 new, when you can get "like new" for $10?), Ralph Lauren kitten-heel sandals, boiled wool coat from Austria, many silk scarves, several Ann Taylor dresses, black wool dress coat with velvet shawl collar... Bric-a-brac - numerous spiral-bound community & church cookbooks, baskets, picnic baskets including one with a set of plastic picnicware... Toys - if you have young boys, this is THE place for Matchbox cars and other cars and trucks! Little girls will find all kinds of treats as well... I've been frequenting this place since I was inhighschool and still go back at age 24. They have an amazing vintage, TRUE VINTAGE, and men's, children's and women's areas as well-- and your household bric-à-brac and books and toys. the place is smaller than it once was and there is no dressing room so be prepared! Lastly, They keep some real vintage treasures behind the counter so be sure to look there as well. read more

I used to frequent this place when I worked in the neighborhood. They had really good prices for clothes with some odds and ends thrown in for flavor. On my trip here on Saturday, I was very surprised that they had raised the prices considerably. You used to be able to get a pair of pants for $3' but now some I looked at were $7-$8. A couple of old Blazers I looked at were $15! They do have some nice vintage stuff and plenty of shoes and purses. No dressing rooms, Only 1 three way mirror for the whole store. You gonna hope people are being polite and sharing it. The best part of the whole store is the little lady who works the register with the latex gloves on. She is always working that register no matter when I have gone for years. You rock, lady! read more

I called today asking about Fireproof filing cabinets. The employee who answered, a woman, was the rudest woman I have yet to meet.... I am a customer calling about an item in your store.. Of course, I will have questions! I had three questions- 1. Do you have fireproof filing cabinets? 2. What is the price 3. Does it lock? On my third question, she flipped out on the phone, gave it to a man while still carrying on... He gets on the phone, not apologising for her rant by the way, to ask me "how can I help you?" I waited a few seconds for him to apologise but nothing... So, I asked if she was okay. He said "she's fine, what can I help you with?" The phone experience was better with him. SHE SHOULD BE FIRED OR BANNED FROM ANSWERING PHONES. I have not had any other experience with the store other than this phone call and, frankly, I won't consider buying anything from this store because of my phone experience. Great selection of clothing and shoes. However, the recent changes of employees has created tension when I was asked to check my personal back pack in when this has never been done before. Although my overall demeanor was receptive, there was an unnecessary and redundant level of pressure that involved my already openess for the employee to hold my backback that left me feeling very offended. After witnessing another customer with a back pack on, I immediately felt that I have been racially profiled, prejudiced and targeted. Also, some items have been unreasonably marked. While cordially addressing the same woman who ran the front register, she agreed that there was no damage to the item that had been marked for the low price and refused to make reasonable accomodations to adjust the price so that they would match. She requested the manager, only with the manager claiming the lack of power to adjust the price to reflect the same price. After I refused to buy the latter items, I asked if I could leave my already purchased items at the front to show harmony with the store's said policy. I was asked again to leave my backpack. I have decided to never return and make this report because of the harrassment and the bothersome scene that came from store employees. I must say that out of all, the thrift stores that I have visited over the years, I have never experienced being this offended and treated so unfairly. Unfortunately, this wasn't always the case. Again, this is a thrift store, checking in bags was odd but I was okay with it. However, I was treated as if I was being difficult, when in fact there customer service needs much improvement. read more
