Bark & Meow is a treasure to find nestled in our new hometown and they carry foods, treats, and products that you can be proud to give to your furry friend. Laura not only offered great holistic advice to help my dog with his chronic skin condition but also chatted about the lines of food that she chooses to carry and various diets that may benefit his chronic joint and shin issues. Pricing is very similar to what you would find at the big box stores, but she does stock more environmentally conscious and non commercial brands that you can feel good about buying. The store is a little tight so I don't know if I would recommend bringing your big boys & girls with you but Benny (55#) was right at home while Laura and I were talking shop. Really love this store and have for years. I live locally and have been going here since Laura (the sweetest woman in the world) opened the store a few years ago. I have a little Corgi named Redford who also loves to come in and pick a toy off the rack for himself. She does have two other dogs in there who I have never had a problem with, and niether has Redford. The store carries a lot of high end dog food with is nice because the brands can be hard to find and are really good for your pet. My sister comes here for Orijen's (brand of dog food). The other cool thing is the other really nice merchandise she carries. I got an awesome life vest for my dog here (he is not a very good swimmer with his tiny legs) and he and I love this life vest. Very high quality and holds up now 2 summers and going strong! read more

Tarrytown/Sleepy Hollow is appealing to so many because it has a small town feel and yet is so close to NYC. Laura, at Bark and Meow exemplifies this appeal by treating each of her customers as if they were old friends. She is a true service professional who listens to her customers wants and needs and addresses them, often going out of her way to provide exemplary service. Once I went in to get food for our two Golden Retrievers. We had asked that she stock a special brand and she went to several different suppliers to find it. Well, she kept it in stock just for us but a customer came in one day who bought the bag. Of course she ordered a replacement to be delivered the next day but as luck would have it, we were out and I stopped by that same day. She apologized and explained that the food would be in the next day... Then she surprised me by suggesting that she would drop it off at my house once it came in so I wouldn't have to make a second trip! She immediately greeted us and talked to us about puppy health and nutrition and recommended an organic brand. This was great considering my bf and I live an organic lifestyle and want that for our puppy too. She was informative and I never felt pressured towards any merchandise. She also gave us sample treats and dog food. The store has pretty much anything you could want. There is an assortment of treats, food, toys, clothes and random doggy/cat nick nacks. If you are coming here expecting to find processed big brand dog food, then you probably won't find it. But there is no short supply of toys so this store is for just about anyone. I brought in my puppy of 3 months, no bigger than a foot long, and she felt right at home. Laura and her employee greeted her with much enthusiasm. Her dogs were friendly as well. Neither of them tried to attack my tiny puppy as previously stated. I would feel fully comfortable bringing my puppy in. I love this shop and we are lucky to have it locally. They carry hard to find pet foods with a focus on quality, even dropping stock when the production quality comes into question. The prices are extremely competitive so I don't worry that I could find it on Amazon cheaper. I'm headed there right now to get some cat food we discovered there last week that fluffy went crazy for. It looks like one reviewer had a doggie scuffle in the store. I'm sorry to hear that, but they are dogs and all sorts of dogs get stupid with each other. This stuff happens whenever there are two or more dogs in the same space - be it the owner's animal or another customer. read more

This store is an absolute gem! A cute, quaint Tarrytown shop with a great selection of holistic and organic pet food and treats. Since I have 3 cats, it's one of the first places I checked out when I moved to Tarrytown. The owner, Laura, could not have been more wonderful. She genuinely loves animals, and is incredibly knowledgeable about all the brands she carries. One of my kitties, Romeo, needs to eat raw food for a medical condition. Laura offered to start carrying the raw food he likes -- and she even bought a freezer to store it in! I am happy to hear she now has a thriving raw food business, and has introduced many of her clients to the healing power of raw food. Every time I request a specific kind of toy or treat, Laura custom orders it for me, even if it's something she doesn't usually stock. I could not recommend this store more highly! read more

Adore this store. The owner, Laura, (who has a Shiba Inu, just like me) is a doll, and will spend as much time as necessary helping her customers (and schmoozing with her more verbose clientele). She has moderate prices on most items, good prices on Stella and Chewy's (which can vary a lot from store to store) and a wonderful selection of high quality, eco- and pet-friendly toys. VERY VERY AGGRESIVE DOG..I cannot comment on the merchandise in the store because before I could even enter the store her unleashed dog Sachi attacked my dog. The owner Laura's dog came outside while I was looking at the rack of dog clothes outside, it looked mean so I stayed away with my other dog Scorpio (lhasa apso), than my boyfriend came with our other dog Rusty (11 week old vizsla), I told him I didn't feel comfortable with the dog and he said "well its a dog in a pet store I'm sure it's used to dogs all the time" next thing I know Rusty goes to smell Sachi (the owners dog) and it turns around and bites Rusty right in the nose, Rusty started to yell & cry so loud that Laura came out running, she was very apologetic and even offered to get ice and something for the bleeding on his nose, she could not stop saying how she didn't know how Sochi wasn't on a lease and how sorry she was and instead of calling the cops we decided since the bite wasn't THAT bad and she seemed really sorry that we weren't going to follow through with reporting it and just asked her for Sachi's vaccination papers. This was fine until later that day I went to petco and bumped into an old friend and we got to talking and I told her about what happened with the owners dog biting my dog in the nose, and she said "oh yea Sachi the little beige dog?" and I was like "yea how did you know" and said " because I went in there and Sachi came up to me gave me her belly and I guess I went to far down and she bit me, than instead of learning my lesson she gave me her belly again so I decided well she's just grumpy and I pet her yet again and she bit me, and when I told Laura she just said " yea, they are like that". Than my friend goes on to tell me that her other dog (forgot the name but it's the black one) has attacked nearly killing little dogs and will attack them in they come into the store! After hearing this I was in shock and angry that we didn't call the cops, than to make things even worse we drove by today (a day after the incident) and saw Sachi AGAIN OUTSIDE WITHOUT A LEASH, we called the cops so hopefully they do something about it. My question is if you are owning a PETSTORE especially one specializing in dog goods why you would have an aggressive dog at the store when you know other dogs will be coming in, especially having an aggressive dog outside unleashed and unsupervised in a busy town with little kids around! She clearly did not learn her lesson and I HIGHLY advise to not bring your dog to the store if you go and be VERY cautious when petting them. read more
