Bark and Purr was recommended by close family friends of ours. They love and spoil their babies, so I knew it would be a great place for our girls. Robert is so friendly and welcoming when we come in. One of our girls was afraid of going to the spa previously, but she now gets excited whenever we pull up. Which just goes to show how well she is treated while she is there. Mind you, the location is quite far from where we live, but we will take the extra time to travel for great service. I've taken my very senior pup to Bark & Purr several times. I'm told he's well-behaved for grooming, but he does have some old man issues they're always careful about here, like skin tags, benign growths, and his barely-attached dangling ear (accident from before I got him... I like to think he fought a coyote). It put me at ease that they seemed more concerned about his ear during shaving than I was, and I trust that he's taken care of whenever I drop him off. I also appreciate that the groomer here fades the cut from his neck to his head better than most places I've been to. Solid service, good prices, and I can usually book on pretty short notice. Side note, Robert always has the coolest shirts. read more

I so recommend this grooming place! It's a small place that put my pup in the best care! My pup can be very hesitant with groomers and I have been trying to find somewhere. This place is the best! Bobby took great care of my pup and took his time to make sure my dog was comfortable while getting the job done efficiently! He did a good job educating me as well. I can not give Bark and Purr enough praise- the staff was absolutely amazing the entire way through from booking over the phone to pick up. It is obvious the moment you meet them that they really care about animals. I took my cat in for grooming shortly after inheriting him from my grandparents, concerned about the quality of his fur and mats. I was immediately comforted by just how clear it is that they know what they're doing. They talked to him, paid attention to his body language, and when I picked him up an hour later (looking handsome!!) they took the time to tell me how everything went even though they were busy (day before the Super Bowl!) and even recommended a great maintenance brush (and walked me through multiple options!!). Incredible customer service, attentive animal people, friendly staff, and knowledgeable and capable groomers. I would recommend them to anyone looking for great care for their animals. Had a completely satisfactory first experience here with our Shepherd Jake and anticipate returning. Was a little cautious given the couple accidents noted in other reviews here, but having talked with Robert who has a GSD of his own and Jake seeming comfortable with him decided to give them a try and did not regret it. Had the works: full bath, grooming and nail trim, and he looked great. Nails were neatly trimmed and not too short. Buffalo like shedding fur removed, his coat shone and his water-averse self seemed no worse for the experience and was not straining too much to get out of the shop: a good sign. Good service. Satisfactory price. Done in less than projected time. Beautiful dog. Happy owner. Would repeat. Or maybe that should be woud lather, rinse, and repeat. I've taken my cats to Bark and Purr every since I moved here almost 6 years ago. I have always been 100% satisfied with the quality of their work and just as important..or maybe more is the way my pets are treated. My tom cat was a big polydactyl love bug. My little girl kitty is blind and she is not afraid to have her nails clipped because she is treated so gentle and loving. My tomcat crossed the rainbow bridge a couple years ago but right as rain about every 6 weeks I take my little girl kitty in to have her mani-pedi. Before I moved out here 6 years ago I had a fantastic groomer back East and was very concerned about who was going to handle my pets. I am so happy that I found Bark and Purr . read more

Welllll... Looks like we will not be using this groomer again. Started off strong the first visit and has been nothing but problems ever since.... When we took our Abby girl here about 10 months ago her ear got snipped during her groom... Thankfully the owner took Abby to the vet and proper precautions were taken to make sure she was seen and that she had antibiotics. But it was definitely not a pretty site to see our dog all bandaged up and have to worry about her ear and infection for days following. It was also a little upsetting for us that we had also had our boxer bathed and nails clipped this same visit and we were still expected to pay the measly $25... But whatever... We figured mistakes happen and they have a business to run. We decided to give them another chance because we could tell they felt awful and honestly, they're one of the cheaper groomers around... But we now realize it has come with added cost of frustration and pain for our Abby girl unfortunately. Today was the day we gave them another shot. I picked Abby up and brought her home after work...next thing I know there is blood all over our tile... Her nails are cut so short that she started bleeding everywhere. Now we are having to bandage our poor dogs foot up. Find somewhere else to go. I know I will be. read more

I do not even know where to BEGIN. First.. I did review this place months back after taking my little dog here for a bath and nail trim.. it was $17. (She is 6lbs) All was well. A couple months later I brought my other little dog in for a hair cut. (Shaved all down. He is 6 lbs) it was $17. Last weekend I took BOTH little dogs in... It almost $60. Something didn't add up. I simply stated it seemed higher then the previous times. She said she did not have a record for my 2nd little dog. Weird? Well I do.. I have the bank statement of $17 and a picture I took of him same day leaving their place. The groomer called me later that day and said it bothered her I thought it was more expensive last time and that she would "check her records..." And call me back because that "isnt a way to run a business." Weird? You told me you didn't have a record for my dog? So. I checked MY banks statements from October (last time he got a cut) $17. I called her back to let her know.. I don't want the $22 back. I just wanted her to know. She said "I'm sorry! What is your phone number and name again so I can check my records at home for October. I will call you tomorrow!" Weird? A week later.. Still haven't heard from them. SECOND... The last after my 6 lb dog left there.. Every time you would touch her back she would yelp out of pain. 2 trips to the vet later.. She is now on two antibiotic / steroids for a SKIN INFECTION. Her entire back skin under her fur is basically peeling. It is awful. My vet said this is the second complaint on this groomer. I am not happy and will NEVER take my dogs back here. read more

I'm so glad I found this place. I have a mini schnauzer and he requires a monthly grooming but it's difficult to find a groomer near me open on Sundays. I called yesterday (Sunday) and they were able to get him in of a grooming and nail clipping. I told the groomer what kind of style I wanted for my pup & When I picked him up I could tell he was so excited he finally got a awesome haircut. I took my Maltese/Shih Tsu mix, Luna, here today for the first time and we received excellent service! I had concerns about the matting in her fur and Robert was so helpful in taking the time to talk with me before her appointment about her grooming options. When I picked her up, Robert and the lovely groomer (forgot to ask for her name-tattos and blue/green hair) took time talking with me about how we should move forward with her grooming for the future. Robert and the groomer were both so nice and professional and even gave me tips and info on how to brush and care for Luna's coat. Don't be fooled by the "hole in the wall" appearance of this place. These people are professionals who care about your pet. Services were much cheaper than the last place I took her as well. Bark and Purr has earned my repeat business with our first visit. I will start off by saying that I moved to Phoenix last ear and tries out at least 10 groomers in a years time, with awful experiences. After a random drive by, I have Bark & Pur a chance. I was so happy with the haircut that my pup received! She looked adorable, and the staff was so kind. They sent her off with one of the best cuts she's had in a long time, and whatever shampoo they use, smells AMAZING!!!!!!!!! I was clearly not disappointed and I continue to take Princess there every 6 weeks since then. They always work with my schedule, time, grooming desires and questions/concerns. Newish to this side of town, so today was our first trip in. Not only was Robert super friendly on the phone, but on a Sunday morning they happily let us bring our dog Toby in. A couple of hours later he was ready to go. We could tell as we got there that our dog had not been freaked out while in their hands! ( he had been obviously mishandled before the holidays at a "big box" pet stores grooming center...) Tobys happiness was not really a surprise because we had no weird feeling dropping him off. Bark & Purr Pet Grooming has always done a great job with my fur kid. Initially, I lived right in the area and they were the only groomer where I could get an appointment at the time. In the past, they have been super accommodating, kind and provide great customer service. Myself (& pet) have never had an issue with any visit. My dog is skittish but well behaved. I imagine any time you leave your pet behind at a groomer can be an anxiety-filled experience, but I like it here and continue to visit year after year. No complaints! read more

Truly the most kind, professional mom and pop groomer. After taking Kona to Bark & Purr, as long as I'm living over here, this is the ONLY groomer I will take her to. They treat my pup with dignity and not like she's a burden. They understand her anxiety and work with her. I used to take my pup to the more "mainstream" groomers and they did a horrible job and left my dog looking pretty much the same and I could tell that she physically and emotionally hated it. I don't wish to post a bad review cause I wasn't present during grooming. But I had a full service n haircut done on my Lilly. N she came home so traumatized. Cowering like a shelter dog. All evening being tired, eyes red, and just more lethargic then her normal spry self. I don't blame the groomers so much but my Lilly has a lot of anxiety. We are getting proper trainers for her soon. The staff seemed very nice and calm w all the dogs I saw. Lilly came home looking a lot better then I thought she would. It's GOTTO be hard cutting a dogs hair that doesn't wanna be there. I just hope her demeanor perks up and they was gentle w restraining her. Over all. I'm very pleased w what they were able to do with her. I know she's not very cooperative w strangers. Hopefully in time she will love them more. Horrible customer service... I made an appointment for my dog on sat for wed at noon. 415 came around and they still weren't finished. I called in and from the sound of the voice they havent started yet. I got my dog and his grooming was horrible he looked like they put him in a puppy blender. Yeah my Yorkiepoo isn't the calmest dog but if you're a professional you should know how to handle that. They pretty much held my dog in a cage for 4 hours and quickly gave him a last minute chop. And that's exactly what I got. His ears are very much un even, his body and under his chin is really really choppy. And theres a big patch of hair that hangs from his body when he walk because they missed that too. I demanded a refund and thats what I got. I went in to get my refund and I was showing the guy where they messed up and my dog Benni started to move around and the guy says well that's probably why this happened... What??? Thats your profession!!! Then the lady with glasses and tattoos had a horrible attitude because the dog she was grooming got a little excited because my dog came in. She said I just need him to leave. Referring to my dog. Thats the last time ill be going there. They need to work on their craft and their crappy customer service. We used to take our two dogs here a few years back and decided to try them again. I am sorry to say we are very disappointed. They groomed both and they came home with uneven ears and faces, completely missed spots on their bodies, and the worst part is we are now fighting to get rid of ticks. We have NEVER had ticks on either of our dogs until we took them for this grooming. It has cost us a lot of time and money to get rid of them. I hope they will do a thorough cleaning to prevent anyone else from having the same issues. read more

I stopped going to Bark and Purr because I moved to Tempe about a year ago. After trying several groomers in my area and not being satisfied, I decided to take the road trip over to Bark and Purr and I was not disappointed! I have an extremely hairy german shepard, and this time of year his shedding is out of control. He came home weighing 10 pounds less than when I dropped him off! He was happy and taken great care of. He also has epilepsy, therefore I am ultra nervous about leaving him with someone that doesn't know what they're doing. But I am never worried about leaving him here. The entire staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and Andre loves to see them. Trust is extremely important to me when you're talking about my animals, they are my children. And I have that 100% here. Because of that I will continue to do the 25 mile drive from now on. Even though I will be spending more on gas, I'm saving on the grooming price. They are extremely affordable!! read more

We have been going here for years. Grooming is cheaper. Staff are nice and animals always come home looking and feeling fresh. I get my small maltese groomed here for about $10 less than other places. The only negative is they are always changing their business hours so always call ahead. I love Bark & Purr! The only groomer that takes the time to get my little Chihuahua sparkling clean! Seriously, they scrubbed that dirty little girl from dingy brown to the white that she is supposed to be. :) For half the price of a chain pet store that I used to take her to, they do a full service groom which includes her teeth (which the chain store wanted extra for). She came home with an adorable little bandana, and smelled so nice. I would way rather support a local groomer any day, so from now on- Bark and Purr it is! read more
