I went to this shelter today to see about adopting a cat or kitten. What I saw there was highly…read moredisappointing.. The cats and kittens all stay loose together in a trailer. I like the fact of the cats being able to run around and play, however most of the cats in this area have a cough, runny eyes, runny noses and two of them look to have ringworm. That was a big red flag for me because all of the "healthy" cats are running around together with the ones that obviously need medical help. I could not bring myself to adopt a cat or kitten because I do not want to adopt a cat, get attached to him and then him end up getting extremely sick because these people cannot get these cats seen by a vet or at lest separate the sick ones from the healthy ones. Right outside of the "cat trailer" there is a pen with little dogs in it. They were extremely hot, with NO WATER!! One of the dogs were licking the inside of a dry bowl and they all were panting and drooling really bad. It was really sad to see :( The lady behind the desk was extremely rude and would not get off of her cell phone to talk with potential adopters. She acted like I was disturbing her social media time, when she should be working and answering questions that the people have. I also told the lady that the outside little dogs needs water asap and the only thing she could say was "okay" and continue to stare at her phone. I will never be back here!! I will be going to the Georgia SPCA to adopt a kitty instead..

The cats were healthy, had been chipped, and we're up to date on their shots. Nine years later, my girls are still going strong! I have volunteered there as well. Their Kibble Crew works very hard to bag hundreds of pounds of dog and cat food to give away to the community. I can't imagine how much food has been given out. The shelter is always clean. The staff there is knowledgeable and their top priority is the animals. I recommend them every chance I get.

It's smaller than most shelters but that seems to lend itself to less stress & more attention to the animals. They have an adult cat room that is filled with plush beds and outdoor access. On the wall there are magnetic pics of who is for adoption with a professional picture & their name. There is a separate kitten room where the antics are captivating. Dogs are separated far enough away from cats to minimize any anxiety. The staff is very friendly and helpful, willing to give any info they can on a particular animal. I highly recommend this Humane Society if you are looking for a fur-ever companion. They also have a thrift store you can donate and buy an array of great finds from. The store is located in city of Hendersonville

I have been volunteering at The Humane Society of Northeast Georgia for almost three years, and it…read morehas been the most rewarding experience of my life. The staff are kind, friendly, and professional, and they truly show appreciation for our time. Those little gestures of gratitude and care mean so much and are often overlooked. The facility itself is incredibly clean, and the dogs and cats are clearly loved and exceptionally well cared for. The pups have great play areas to romp and burn off energy, and there is an excellent animal behaviorist who helps socialize the dogs and make them more adoptable. Having volunteered at another shelter in the past where appreciation was rarely expressed, the difference here is remarkable. This organization genuinely values both its animals and its volunteers. Please consider this amazing facility when looking to add a new family member, volunteer your time, or make a donation that truly makes a difference in the lives of these animals. Don't shop... Had to do community service and was already looking to adopt a cat so why not do my community…read moreservice at the humane society right? Im already planning on going there to adopt, they have to be appreciative of people helping out. Here's the thing though , if you are doing community service they say you have to use a completely different kitchen AND PLACE TO EAT, you have to sit in the conference room, which would be fine if one manager Margaret (sweetest person ever and needs a raise a cause she was one of the few professional managers there Margarite is one of the main reasons why this is a 2.5 stars and not 0 stars) didn't already show me the employee and volunteer break room (I'm sure she didn't know how Danelle would react when I sat down as Danelle was laying down on the couch with the lights off and getting on to me for trying to sit down to take my break after working since 8am around 12pm. I understand if Danelle was maybe having a bad day if she wasn't also rude when I asked why the vending machine in there charged me $1.25 for a water and never gave it to me, she said the machine would refund me but still hasn't and then when I asked if they had any water and she told me (while we were still in the volunteer and worker break room cause that the only place the vending machine is) Danelle waited until I said thank you and opened the fridge in there and got one of the many waters to say , actually maybe you should get the waters from the community service fridge , with a rude tone . Overall it just felt like she treated everyone that came in for community service as less than /!: Danelle really made me want to cry the way she made me and the other girl doing it too feel less than just for trying to better ourselves, NOT TO MENTION I WAS PLANNING ON BROWSING AND ADOPTING BEFORE I EVEN GOT HERE. Danelle definitely ruined my experience as someone just trying to help out on one of their few days off, but Emma and Rilegh were really rude when I tried to see the cats after a LONG DAY of trying my best to be helpful with dishes, laundry, unloading packages , because when I tried to see the cats at all they said I couldn't pet them at all , not even a boop on the nose to let them know that they matter and see which cat I would be interested in cause I've been saving up for this exact moment . They kept looking me up and down and making me feel incredibly uncomfortable for having the audacity to be interested in seeing the cats and that just completely turned me off and was the last straw for me overall. the staff that were kind and I wish Danielle, Emma and Rilegh could learn from on how to treat people with kindness Especially on someone's first day, definetly includes Margarite, she was the kindest person there and super helpful , as well as this helpful girl with curly brown hair( poss Abby) and gold earrings and a guy with a blue beanie (poss Arman Atkins) along with most of the staff like the nice front desk ladies and definitely Kathleen was also kind . These animals deserve loving homes and treating other with kindness like these examples will definetly help them find homes faster , I just hope Danelle, Rilegh and Emma learn how to be kinder to others that work for them and see some sort of ramifications cause that rudeness should not be tolerated in a normal work space let alone one where I'm trying to come help on my day off

They were able to give us many options from a local kill shelter (without us feeling pressured- really!) and then followed through with all the information we could ask for about the dogs we were interested in. Jillian was constantly available and willing to work with us when it came to transportation for our new pup. We received constant updates with pictures from both Jillian and Chad, which made us feel included through the entire adoption process; from them pulling him out from the kill shelter and then rehabilitating him until we were able to adopt. We got constant training updates so we felt ready and prepared for him when we brought him home. He is already settling in nicely, alive and happy! Thank you so much!!
