I rode down…read moreto French creek and took the passenger ferry to Lasqueti island which was fun in its own right ( about a 20 min ride from parksdale to the French creek marina). The ride around Lasqueti is very pleasant with a couple of beaches to stop at and relatively car free hilly dirt roads . There is a hotel /pub at fakes bay where the ferry lands You need a mountain bike or a hybrid or gravel bike with 32 mm plus tires . Suspension is useful for the sweeping corners that are gravel covered with washboard in some spots. I called Greg at Oceanside outfitters about one minute after closing to try and get a bike for the 9:45 ferry the next day. Greg kindly offered to open the store at 8:30 the next morning and I made the ferry with no problem. He also let me drop the bike off after shop closing time , at his beach rental spot. A really nice guy and I appreciate the above and beyond service and the great bike as well. Stefan

Exceptional service and pricing (bike were brand new). They even delivered the bikes right to our condo and picked them up. I will definitely rent here again when I am in the area.

just want to give a shout out to the team here at Arrowsmith bikes shop Nanaimo, I bought and…read moremountain ebike off them last year on my 65th born day as i wanted to start rideing again in the forest, not knowing anything about them walked into the shop and was greeted with a big smile and was given the utmost respect right from the start, They took the time to walk me threw all sorts of different pay grades of bike and gave me the understanding of the differences, they never once tried to push me toward a more expensive option, I went with the treck rail, and all i can say is (o my God) what fun. They gave me a full year with free tune ups and any time I came in they have gone out of there way to help me with all things, since my year ran out in march of this year I have had to bring my bike in a few times with some small problems, and they have fixed it right there on the spot, they let me watch so I can learn how to do, which is awesome, today I brought my bike in as I was missing a small screw in my gear changer, and they took my bike to the back and 10 min later back out with screw in and also tightened up and tweaked some small things that I didn't even see, I asked what do I ow you for that, and all i got was a big smile and have a good ride don't worry about it. I cant say enough good things about these guys and gals that work there, so nice to see that it isn't always about money, They give me hope that there are still good things happening out here. I purchased a "Test Model" used bike in June 2025. I paid $1800 for it but paid for "fatter" seat…read moreand handlebar extender. I had it for 3 months-ish and started having problem with acceleration as soon as adjusting the level from 0 to any number. The bike was also going dead especially up hill. They took 11 days for the Nanaimo location to put a spacer in the throttle charging near $60. I bring it home and find rear tire flat next day. I find it flat again next morning after filling up air previous day. I bring it to another more local private bike shop as Pedego Nanaimo are closed Mondays. The Bike shop that fixed back tire tell me bike tires had debris in them and the tires themselves were wore out needing replacement. Ya 3 month old bike right? But it was fixed with new inner-tube to use for "now". I was testing bike and the Acceleration issues continued. So I brought the bike back to Pedago Nanaimo store. I was very specific asking for the computer to be replaced "expecting it to be under warranty and put on All terrain puncture resistant tire. Well 9 days later I get call from Pedago Electric bikes Nanaimo stating I needed to come pick-up bike as they were closing store for good. They replaced the tires with nobbies original to bike, not the tire that was on it when i bought bike nor was the replacement puncture proof or all terrain! The accelerator has been replaced despite me not asking for that nor did anybody call asking to replace tires especially ones different than asked for or accelerator replacement. Nothing is "under warranty", so I've got to pay the parts and labour to get bike back. Who buys a $1800 bike with no warranty? I didn't believe I did!!! Calling Police and they would only state it's a matter for the courts. Its not a crime to steal from customers. I wonder if the reason the person closing that store is doing so because the corporate has nothing to do with customers of each store and owners are responsible to pay for replacement parts?
