I can't recommend this business. They clipped my dog's nail WAY too short, leaving him bleeding for seven hours after the grooming session. When I picked him up, they said he got nippy around his paws--I wonder why?? I ended up canceling my plans that night so I could keep an eye on my dog. Not only that, but since this grooming session my dog has been more sensitive around brushing which tells me that they were too aggressive with him while brushing, even though I asked them to just shave the areas where he was matted so that he wouldn't be in pain. We used to come here regularly but a lot of the groomers have changed, and the groomer we used to use has left. It's really disappointing because we loved the old groomer and now we'll have to look for a new place. read more

She listened to me intently, examined the state of my Bernedoodle's coat and did exactly what I'd asked for. Unlike other groomers in Seattle, I didn't have to deal with a teenager who's just trying to "find her/him-self learning to groom" and there was zero "attitude". I booked another appointment for a tidy trim. My experience started with the snooty receptionist who didn't even say "hello" instead it was a snappy "do u have an appointment". No smile and acted as if i wasn't welcome there From my previous experience, I remembered the appointment took less than two hours. However, I know how grooming salons can be so allotted for 2-3 hours listed on the website and planned to drive around running errands until then. The appointment started at 10 am. By 12:30 (2.5 hours later) I attempted to call to get an estimated completion time. No answer. I called 4 or 5 times within the hour. Left two voicemails. & nothing. By 1 I decided to drive back to the salon (3 hours later) When I arrived at 1:15, I was greeted by a stylist who informed me he wouldn't be ready until 2:30 (4.5 after his scheduled appointment time). Mind you, he is a small dog and just needed a tidy trIm. What really bothered me is that they weren't even working on him when I came in to check. I informed them I wasn't able to wait, because I was not made aware they needed almost 5 hours for a tidy trim. The stylist acted super annoyed but eventually said she'd finish him. I was given a $5 discount on an $80 service, no sincere apology, instead I was shamed for not understanding how a grooming salon worked. We brought our precious gem here for her first grooming experience, and boy am I glad! The staff here are wonderful. They asked questions, listened very well, educated me about grooming, and treated our little girl with kindness. She clearly was able to get comfortable being handled because we'd had trouble with her letting us handle her paws and ears and after her grooming was far less antsy. They did a wonderful job on styling considering our pup had to be shaved all over due to matting because we shamefully didn't brush her as often as necessary. THEY DO NOT CARE FOR YOUR DOG! I booked the appt online and did not get a confirmation until I called them about a week later and had them confirm right there. On the day of our appointment we were told a full groom would take 3-4 hours and we did not anticipate any difficulties seeing that we had throughly brushed our dog prior to the appt too. We decided to arrive to the area at the 3.5 hr mark. We thought it would just be another 30minutes or so, but we ended waiting for an hour and half and recieved NO call or text updates. We poked our heads into the salon at the 4 hr mark and saw our dog in the middle of grooming so we did not want to distract and we left. We walked past a few times...at this point it was nearing the 5hr mark. Finally, closer to the 5.5 hr mark we could not wait and came in to find the groomer was getting starting on a new dog while ours was barking in the back. They never communicated an additional 1.5 hr delay nor did they seem to have plans to let us know the groom was complete. When we paid (and regretfully tipped) they did not mention any issues with his groom or behavior. Though, once left the salon our dog ran to the pet store next door that had a water bowl out front and chugged all the water... for 5.5 hrs our dog was with the groomers and likely did not get any water or was just that anxious which is not like him at all. He has been to other groomers and had never left this anxious. Back at home, we noticed his front paw had a cut and a spot behind his ear was knicked. the fur in this spot was also oddly cut. They definitely made a mistake and made no mention of it. The cut was hidden by his ear. I HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND. Your dog will NOT be cared for. read more

Bark in Style does an absolutely fabulous job with our poodles! I have been coming here for five years, and have yet to receive anything but perfection from them. One of our dogs is a rescue and has been known to bark at other dogs, just likes to make himself heard. The staff does an excellent job of managing and calming him, and really appreciate the care they take in making sure he is comfortable. The shop does a great job of communicating and are clear with drop off and pick up times. I started bringing my dog to Bark in Style 3 years ago as it was a few blocks from my house and I've continue bringing him there even now that I live in Queen Anne. They do a great job with my dog Bentley, he always looks and smells amazing when I pick him up. The girls there are always so sweet saying he was a good boy (even though I don't always believe them) and they're glad to see him and get him done pretty quickly knowing he's nervous. I love being able to schedule online but it's hard to cancel if you need to change appointments, he's been double booked before because I didn't get a response to my cancel email or voicemail. I've taken my pup to Bark In Style a few times over the last year and have had decent experiences up until today. I dropped him off for a full groom (haircut and wash) this morning and upon picking him up this afternoon one of the groomers immediately told me "there was an issue on one of his legs because he was matted and it was irritated and to watch it". Strange because I didn't notice any matting on him prior to dropping him off. A few moments later another groomer chimed in telling me "oh it must be allergies and to watch it" because "he was licking his leg". Again, strange because my dog is 5 and has never had allergies before. Once we got to my vehicle and started driving home, I could tell he was licking one spot on his left front leg pretty excessively. When I took a look at his leg it looked like he may have been nicked by the razor. I am almost positive this is what happened since 1). He wasn't matted. 2). He doesn't have allergies. 3). The groomers were obvious in trying to come up with excuses and both of them said it was from different things. I get accidents happen and I wouldn't be writing this review had they been honest and told me they accidentally got a little close on one of his legs and to watch out for him licking it. But I am very unhappy by the fact they lied to me about it and tried to cover it up as something else. Accidents happen, however, I won't trust my dog at a place that is dishonest with me. The first time we went, they did great! The second time we went they canceled our appointment last-minute, said they would reschedule that afternoon and didn't. When I called back to reschedule, they pushed us out 4 extra weeks. Which is all fine because the times are the times, but I went out of my way to keep the dog brushed out and washed, and he did get some minor matting under his little front legs but it was nothing major. The dog was there for hours and she ended up shaving him. And then charged $110 for it. It just seems insane. And she was pretty rude about it from the start. It's all been not a great experience there, truthfully. I think they are okay with pretty basic wash and nail trims, but if your dog is puffy, you may want to go elsewhere. read more

I really don't leave bad reviews (just look at my page) but this place brought me to tears. My dog is used to getting professional grooms and does well when provided with a safe and calm environment. I dropped my dog off for a bath, brush, nail trim, and teeth brushing and was returned a scared and sad puppy. This was my second time bringing my dog here and needless to say the first experience was solid. Hence the one star. The lady working here is amazing. But the man, eek. I don't think he understands timid dogs. He gave me such a face of disgust when I told him he gets a bit nervous and to go slowly with him. Within 30 minutes of dropping him off, I receive a call saying to come pick him up as he was not cooperating. This coming from the same man who asked me to leave as he believed dogs tend to trust others when their owners leave, when all I asked to do was help my dog get adjusted to the groomer and make him feel comfortable. The reason for the variance in reviews for Bark in Style is probably simple; if they like your dog they'll treat it fine, if they don't they'll hurt it. I join the list of people who had a dog injured by Bark in Style and required a Vet visit + treatment. The groomer badly injured both of his ears, which were both bleeding when I picked him up and he was obviously terrified. Instead of realizing or worry about that, they went out of their way to have multiple staff passive aggressively tell me to better socialize my extremely social, friendly, harmless 35 pound Labradoodle. Apparently they only like dogs who enjoy having their nails clipped and 35 pound Labradoodles are just too difficult to control, so they hurt them instead! Oh but hey, they'd love for you to come back in a month for another $80 hurt-your-dog haircut AND now offering teeth cleaning and nail grinding for an additional fee! The additional pain they'll inflict is free!!! Not only did my dog require a vet visit and a round of multiple medications after his visit, Bark in Style refused to even refund the grooming let alone pay the Vet bill. The Vet was very clear that Bark in Style injured my dog through some combination of incompetence and aggression. If you take your dog to Bark in Style you are risking its safety. They WILL hurt your dog if they decide they don't like it. read more

We dropped Yuri off for a morning appt on 9/1. Walking in, I immediately felt good about this place as the employees were all energetic and having fun in the front with dogs walking around. Yuri (our 18-month old morkie) needed a haircut and a bath...she smelled like old socks and had a mini fro, plus her hair is fine and gets tangled easily so it's a given that she'll eventually need a good grooming. We arrived at 1pm to pick her up and she looked fabulous! She gets a puppy cut so her hair is nice and short and her ears are floppy. Her undercoat is a cream color and her markings are black, white, gray, and a brownish color...very pretty animal. Her nails were nicely cut and she didn't piddle when she saw us...that was the best part for us. The salon is clean, bright, and you can see a lot of what goes on when you walk in, which is nice. Parking was easy and they have the same groomer work on your dog each time so it remains consistent. Very cool. Bark in Style is definitely an awesome salon and as long as we make an appt, Yuri will be back on a regular basis. =) read more

I've been taking my dog here for a year. I've never been overly impressed with the hair cuts as it is often a bit choppy or uneven but still they were still decent (sometimes I touch up the cut). When I went to pick up my dog a couple of weeks ago I saw one of the staff members (had red hair) grooming a poodle. She was holding (rather gripping) the tail up at a 90 degree angle firmer than needed to be and she jerked the dog back into position when he slightly moved his head to look around. It made me very uneasy as it was not called for considering his calm demeanor. As I couldn't get the thought out of my mind or bring myself to calling, I've decided to not take my dog here anymore as she is like my daughter and I couldn't imagine anyone treating her that way. Booked an early morning appointment over the phone. Showed up for our appointment and was told there was no record of the appointment. I get it, things get busy at work and booking my appointment probably got forgotten. The reason for the 2 star review is due to the customer service when we went in for our appointment. I was met with rude snappy employee that told me she had no record of my appointment. I would not be leaving this review if she would have simply stated "Sorry, our bad." I'll rebook a month out, but I don't have confidence in the staff. Not a good start to our new relationship. I'll give them a second chance but I'll call and verify my appointment every week to ensure this doesn't happen again. read more

We took our now 10-year-old dog to Bark in Style for many years for grooming services until we had a horrible experience last November with a completely inappropriate response from the owner. The groomer cut one of our dog's back paw quite badly while trimming his paw fur. Our dog had to be taken to urgent care because the bleeding wouldn't stop. He was put in antibiotics for 2 weeks, we had to clean his wound twice a day, and the poor thing had to wear a bootie and the collar of shame until everything healed. When the groomer called me to say that our dog was "ready to go home", she said she wouldn't charge us because there was an accident, but she said our dog "was totally fine" and that she didn't think he needed to see a vet. We picked up our dog to find once we got home that the bandage was soaked in blood, and he covered our house floors and white carpet with bloody stains. We have a pet plan and even with that we spent $86 in vet bills (otherwise, it would have cost almost twice as much), and the owner never reimbursed us for that, even though she said she would. Please note we had shared both our home address so she could mail a check and our paypal info, so she even had options to pay us back! I emailed the owner with pictures of the vet bills, also pictures of our dog and the wounds, and all that we got was a very weak apology. She said that accidents like the one that happened with our dog were "very common" because the dogs move a lot and this is a difficult job. Although I understand that such accidents can happen with very active or especially large dogs, I find it very hard to believe that this ugly cut was my dog's fault: a 10-year-old 16lbs mellow dog! And even if it was his "fault", say for being an animal and moving, there is just no excuse to the owner's response. I really wanted to be able to re-establish my trust with Bark in Style, but I simply can't. The owner's response to such serious accident was extremely disappointing, and I am afraid she is not spending enough time coaching her staff or even checking with clients if their pets are doing okay. Decided to update my review since we added a Yorkie to our family, so I took both our Maltese and Yorkie in on a Friday morning and they did a wonderful job with both. Our Yorkie is a bit shy when it comes to meeting new people and I was a bit worried about him when I dropped him off because of this, so I mentioned it to the groomer. They did a fantastic job with him, and even put him in the same crate as his brother when they were finished and waiting for me to pick them up. (He does better when he's close to his brother). As always, we got the full-hair cut, and I wanted them relatively shorter than I normally keep them since the weather is getting increasingly warm, they both look adorable. For both dogs, at $50 each, it was a steal for such a great job that they did. Especially since I get the entire morning+afternoon to myself after I drop them off :) Both puppies came out smelling nice and happily wagging their tails to see me! I'm a pretty disappointed dog mom today. I'd taken my fluffy pup twice before, and the last time in particular they did exactly what I'd asked for and he looked perfect! Today, I dropped him off and the stylist told me she was new. She was looking at his card, and I told her what was done the last visit was what I wanted. I specifically pointed out his face and asked that his face be kept fluffy. Went to pick him up ... and he looks nothing like the last time. He was cut way too short, including his face, which was trimmed down very short - and his tear stains weren't even addressed. Don't leave those there if you're going to cut down all the fur that hides them! I tried telling the groomer why I wasn't happy and just got excuses and her blaming other people. She said she didn't know what to do - forget that I explained it and she had no questions then, but why not just call me to check? Now I am not only out $70 for a bad groom + $15 for a tip (ask to see your pup before you pay! wish i had!), but we had holiday photos planned later this week that I have to reschedule and hope to avoid the cancellation fee. I understand people make mistakes, but the response I got when I was clearly unhappy with the service will make me think twice about going back here. There were two other employees standing there watching, which made it all the more uncomfortable.
