EDIT: I removed names from this review, as I discovered we were given the wrong names by another employee. The gentleman had on a newsboy cap and the woman had reddish hair (forgive me for not having better details, I was so sad. But the sentiment remains the same.) There are businesses you visit, and then there are places that become part of your family's story. All The Best falls firmly into the latter category. Since moving to Ballard, our dog was a regular visitor. He'd shamelessly help himself to treats from the bins, tail wagging with pure delight at his "successful" heist-- the cashiers were always so gracious. And on top of that, the store regularly hosts wonderful community events (like the wading pool they set up during farmers market days.) But it was on our dog's final day that the staff last Wednesday morning truly showed us the greatest kindness. We brought him in one last time, and they let him steal treats to his heart's content. Without being asked, they prepared a goodie bag filled with food and treats he might enjoy, and they gave me forget-me-not seeds. In a moment when I was completely broken, they showed such genuine compassion and understanding. Those treats kept Teddy calm and happy in his last moments, and I will never forget the incredible kindness of their gesture. If you're looking for a pet store where your furry family members will be truly welcomed and cherished, where the staff genuinely cares about your pet's happiness, and where you'll be treated like family, this is your place. My dog ate a pig ear from here... this is one of many that she has had in the past but my first one from this particular shop. My dog has been dealing with constipation and yellow liquid poop for 4 days for what can pass through. I am considering taking her to the vet today. They really should talk to the vendor they are receiving these from as they are obviously selling pig ears with a lot of fat or grease that is causing constipation. read more

Came here to pick up a couple things for the cat and also look around as All the best is conveniently right in the neighborhood. All The Best is a smallish chain of pet stores which is a nice alternative to Petco/PetSmart, as well as just getting my basics at the grocery store where I usually go. This All the Best is very well stocked. I'm very impressed with the amount of cat stuff specifically here. We know Dogs and the supplies for them get a lot of love as far as pets go (and that's still the same here), but wow there is like an entire room here for cat supplies. Several types of food, beds, feeders, grooming, toys and more as opposed to even in the biggest of the above-mentioned pet stores/aisles. those places may have a selection of things but not of alternative brands with likely higher quality or at least more localized. I came here for some waste bags which are a steal here at $0.99 and cat mats which they have several of. This is what I mean. Something as basic as a cat mat and they have like 3 types. I stuck with their brand, and it works very well. The staff were all very friendly and helpful here which of course is appreciated. All The Best is a fine pet store. read more

I was doing some research a couple years ago about my dog and alternatives to her dental cleanings because each time we go to the vet, we drop about $700-1000 going in for a "cleaning" because she is considered a senior at the age of 11, she has to be set up on a catheter plus the anesthesia, plus any extractions she may need... it really racks up the bill for us. I came across "All The Best Pet Care" and I thought, how amazing! I will definitely have to try out this alternative because they don't use anesthesia!! Fast forward a couple years (mostly due to me procrastinating), I moved to the Ballard neighborhood recently and lo and behold, there's this location right across the street from me! So I knew I had to book her an appointment. I would recommend you call and book in advance (I believe their openings are listed on their website) and I waited about 2 months after booking to get her in to see the technician! The day prior, I came across reading the fine print and got extremely nervous because I didn't read the fine print about how fussy dogs may be turned away... my poor Delilah can't even go to a vet's office, groomer's, or anywhere to get her nails trimmed because she's the poster child for "fussy" and "difficult to handle" dogs... I already had put down a non-refundable deposit of $30 at the time of booking and I guess it's not that much to lose if she gets turned away but still... that would suck. I brought her in to at least try and the lady said she would just bring her back out if Delilah can't stay calm. So I'm walking around the shop, looking around, and waiting. It was the most intense wait ever haha because I thought they would give up and bring her back out in 30 seconds but I actually was waiting around for a good 15 minutes and the tech came out with Delilah, she's ready to go home, but I needed an update! They actually managed to calm her down enough to successfully do the cleaning! The tech offered to send me the before and after photos via text and I was thoroughly impressed with the results! The tech brought up the fact that because her teeth is stained pretty badly, he couldn't get all the spots but I was already satisfied with the amount he had gotten cleaned so I was happy. It definitely is kind of pricey (I paid an additional $145 on top of the $30 deposit) but hey, I would rather pay that than pay in the four digit price range. *It is only $140 if you pay in cash rather than the $145). read more

Amazon has been unable to deliver my order for the past 2 deliveries. I'm upset. My cat was hungry and they could not update me on my order. Neither of my orders were ever delivered. Do not use this store for home deliveries. They are unreliable. I never leave reviews. But when it comes to the care of my animals, I don't want another pet to go hungry out of negligence. Hopefully they rectify their issues so that no one else has to experience poor service. UPDATE: I was kindly contacted by the store and made aware of their in-home delivery service. I have been a loyal customer and fan of All the Best Ballard for years. Even though the Ballard All the Best store is not the most convenient for me, the employees there really ARE the "Best" when it comes to friendliness, customer service and pet knowledge. Let me continue with review with an introduction to my two Maine Coon cats who know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, they are the most incredible cats in the world. And they are! Like all long-haired cats, my entire world is filled with cat hair and from time to time, the dreaded hairball. For years, I struggled with finding a healthy preventative to the dreaded hairball problem. I tried everything from butter to supposedly "natural" hairball remedies with varying degrees of success. However, nothing really worked. During a recent visit to All the Best for the mandatory cat treats (my cats think treats are one of the 4 basic food groups), I asked one of the employees, "Employee A" for her suggestions for hairballs. She went over to a shelf to get a bottle of fish oil. When I asked her how I would avoid the "I hate this so it is unacceptable" syndrome, she nodded knowingly and said, " put it under their food and they will be none the wiser ". She was right which just goes to prove that Employee A's and my IQs are higher than my two Maine Coons' IQs. Literally within 3 days their coats were even softer and, so far, fingers crossed, no hairballs! Needless to say, I am thrilled! I was a confirmed "only All the Best" customer before Employee A's advice, but now, there is no way I would shop anywhere else for my two furry roommates. First off, they have a wonderful inventory of pretty much everything you'll ever need for your animal. Secondly, their staff is among the most knowledgeable and helpful of any anywhere. Like, seriously, I've been treated by E.R. staffers who knew far less about human health than All the Best's staff knows about dogs and rabbits (my critters). And it's so sweet that they have a gum ball machine filled w/ dog treats outside their front door, both for regular customers or for pet guardians who might not be able to afford treats. In the metal bins where the sign was located was cat toys stuffed with cat nip. Items were candy cane fabric and holiday fabric. The cashiers knowingly told me that these items were Not sold for 25% even though knowingly there were placed in the "wrong bin" by another employee. Sadly the cashier didn't even honor the sale price. Lies Lies Lies! I walked out buying Nothing and they lost a customer. This pet store should be called All Your Lost in Pet Care!! This place is amazing with fantastic service and knowledgeable of the products in the store. They have a huge selection of treats and their own products. During my first visit, one of the staff gave me a free puppy birthday bag filled with goodies for my new puppy. My second visit, the staff patiently explain the function of the harness and how to properly put on the puppy. They have a variety of products for dog and cat owners, ranging from food, treats, collars/harness, and maintenance/cleaning products for pets. We bought a bag of treats and puppy doesn't like it at all for some reason. The staff notified me that I can return the product. I hate to waste it and leave it at home so I returned it as store credit. Once you open an account with them, they input your pets' birthday and has all the records of products you bought at the store. read more

They keep track of your orders/account via your phone so you don't need a receipt, and they have a generous return policy if your finicky pet thwarts your best efforts to predict what they'll eat. The staff has always made great recommendations and are willing to help problem solve. This place would get 5 stars, but they don't have a few products most other pet stores have like Science Diet dry food. For overall products, I prefer Mudd Bay, but the staff here is worth taking a few chances on a brand i'm not familiar with. Esp since they're helpful if the gamble doesn't pay off. read more

On one of the last walks I took my 15 year old pittie, Pixie Pea (she had just been diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma cancer and renal failure), my 10 year old pittie, Olive, insisted we go to our local All the Best, because she knows she will get treats :) We strolled in (in a large red pet stroller for my old lady girl, Pixie Pea) and I told the associates Olive came for treats and Dee happily got them some. A few days after I had to put Pixie Pea down The next day Olive and I took a walk and this time I brought my wallet and bought some treats for Olive. Dee helped me and I told them Pixie had passed and I was trying to spoil Olive. Dee asked me to wait as they went to the back room, and came back with an amazing Goodie bag full of treats and toys. I have been coming here for almost a year now, and I am a huge fan. All of the staff are very friendly and helpful (not just this location but two other locations as well). I like that there is a parking lot, which is difficult to come by in Ballard. It's a large store, really clean, and always has the items I need in stock. Ok, yes, it's pricey. I don't even want to think about how much I have spent there. BUT they do offer treats and samples all the time, and they have a great return policy (which was helpful when I was choosing the right litter and food for my new kitten). They also have a rewards program that you can join for free for $20 back after you've spent a million or so :) My babies are currently hooked on the goat milk, Stella's chicken, and Bravo turkey. I am in at least once a week for a refill. Only downside is I didn't receive my birthday discount (20% off and a goodie bag). Another location caught it when I was buying for my other pet and honored it which I really appreciated. Considering how much I spend there, I wish they were more on top of the once a year discount. Now that I know, I'll make sure and bring it up next year. Otherwise, I have been very happy with this location. read more

Better late than never! Around 6 years ago, I lived a few blocks away from this Ballard location. And as an avid animal lover, I would always stop when I passed by to check out the cats up for adoption. One day, a big, black, furry blob appeared in one of the cat windows. I read the description for Charlie, and looked at his blurry picture in which I could kind of make out two big eyes, a little pink tongue, and a red and green holiday collar. I fell in love right then and there. I went in to talk with the staff about Charlie (turns out he was a staff favourite) and the adoption process. They were so friendly, helpful, and generous with their time and knowledge. We decided to make Charlie a part of our family a week before Christmas, and the staff really helped us to be prepared for our lifelong commitment. We continued to split our food/cat items purchasing between AtB and another pet supply store nearby (the latter had a better deal on Wellness brand) until we moved back to NYC. I currently volunteer for a rescue group, and I continue to use and share the knowledge I learned from the staff at All the Best with future pet adopters that I meet. I have seen this store near my home but have never stopped in. Today, however I stopped by this location after the farmer's market and I am very surprised! First I was very surprised to be able to find parking, but just behind the building there are marked spots for All the Best customers only. This is a plus since parking is so hard to come by especially in Ballard. The employee even gave my dog a treat when we first walked in. I told her that I needed a new harness for my dogs since I have had these wonder walkers for almost two years. She helped me pick out new ones and even helped size them correctly on my dogs. Then she even offered me some raw food samples, even though I told her we already feed our dogs raw food with supplements. She said it was okay that we take the samples anyways. Cons: While I was browsing through some of the bulk items, I saw bugs in with some of the chews and chicken feet buckets. I also saw some bugs in some of the individually wrapped chews, I'm not sure specifically what kind of chews they were because I didn't want to investigate further. I brought it to the attention of the girl who was helping with the wonder walkers and she said she will take care of it and that it happens all the time. (meh at least she was honest about it) I am taking off one star because of the price mark up on the harnesses (about 10%) and the other two for the bugs. read more

I would like to say that I LOVE this store. I will keep supporting and purchasing from this store but I do hope that associates would be more willing to share the pros and cons about the toys and treats going forward. Ever since I got my corgi puppy 3 years ago I only went to all the best pet care (whether it's ballard or greenwood) to get his toys/snacks/ etc, never other pet stores. I started giving my corgi an antler chew toy when he became fully grown. I asked the associates at the time if it was safe for dogs since it was a hard toy. She told me it was 'safe' since he's a full grown adult dog. I just trusted the associates since they have been very friendly and being a first time dog owner I put faith that they know more about the animals than I did...... I really wished she would've asked me more questions about my dog's personality, chewing habits or provided more information as to what could happen as side effects/downside rather than just brushing off that it is just "safe". I recently noticed my dog wasn't chewing right when I gave him a soft chew treats. and soon after I found a chunk of broken tooth on the floor. so I immediately went to go check his teeth. the right side of his back molar is completely gone and the left side of his back molar has chunk missing (the broken piece I found on the floor matches this area) he won't even let me touch the right side. I accidentally pressed the right side of his cheeks and he jolted and ran away from me. Now I have to take my dog to the vet and god knows how much it will be to fix both of his teeth...... read more
