I am a new patient of Dr. Barkate seeking his expertise to help resolve my sleep apnea problem. I am originally from Japan and a language is still a barrier (as you can tell from this writing) but I feel the language is never a barrier at Barkate Nehi's dental practice. I always feel most welcome and well taken care of. All aspect of Dr. Barkate's practice, in my humble opinion, is of excellence. Dr. Barkate: I trust he is one of most qualified and experienced doctor who is at the prime of his career serving this community. I feel very grateful I am under his care. I can feel he truly care about each and all of his patients. My visit to his practice is alway pleasant, feeling so blessed we have Dr. Barkate in the OC! I had countless questions about sleep apnea and the MAD (Mandibular Advancement Device) treatment but all the questions were answered most thoroughly with crystal clear clarity and at my first consultation to check if I am a candidate to receive this MAD treatment. I felt very comfortable and left the office with a sense of "trust" and "respect" to Dr. Barkate and his practice with 100% satisfaction. Appointment and follow-through: All the front office team members are excellent and always make me wonder how can this happen. Everyone highly professional, thorough, friendly, courteous and helpful. Kendall, you are a wonderful representation of the excellence of Barkate Nehi practice. Gill,a backoffice technician, is wonderful. He is very thorough and committed to his career. While the dental/medical questions are all answered by Dr. Barkate, procedural/maintenance questions are all answered thoroughly by him. Being new to this sleep apnea problem, I have countless questions but he never miss any questions unanswered. With preciseness. And, last but not least, Maggie who is an insurance specialist, I am very impressed with wealth of her knowledge, experience and professionalism. My PCP warned me that the fee for MAD (Mandibular Advancement Device) is not covered by insurance. Wrong. My out of pocket expense ended up only at 30% and got 70% refunded from Medicare and Medigap insurances. So, my PCP or a general perception is wrong. I am very glad insurance aspect was also taken care with zero concerns and zero frustrations in a timely manner. I have an adult daughter and wished Dr. Barkate was her orthodontist! read more

Wonderful experience here! They don't always recommend the most extensive/expensive treatment. For one child they recommended an expander and two phases, and for the other child just one phase. It is pretty easy to get scheduled, the wait time in the office is never very long, and everyone is always very friendly. We will be coming here with our third child soon. read more

I came here for braces in 2020-21 and had a great experience. Then, years later, in 2025 I needed a retainer replacement, so I got one from my regular dentist. After a week of major issues stemming from that retainer (canker sore breakout), I came back to Dr. Barkate's office and I was able to talk with him about the new retainer and the issues I was having. He was extremely understanding and super helpful in helping me decide what kind of retainer would best suit my needs (teeth grinding, etc). Never getting a new retainer from someone else again! Shows that orthodontic care goes well beyond actually wearing braces, and super grateful for Drs. Barkate and Nehi for their great care in making the patient experience the best it can be. read more

Go absolutely anywhere else for orthodontic work. Two sets of braces later & religious retainer wearing and my teeth still are not perfect. The team will intentionally do multiple sets for their own monetary benefit -- convinced us to start my daughter w braces at 6 years old. Unacceptable and disgusting practice all around. read more

We drive really far to come here for my son's braces because we really loved the consult we had. They explained everything very clearly, the staff are all incredibly nice and good with kids and the location is beautiful. Feels more like a medspa than an orthodontist office which is what I always look for because it makes a difference when you kid has to go there a lot.
