I started Invisalign treatment at Orange Coast Orthodontics in April of 2023. I planned on waiting until treatment was done before posting my review, but I felt compelled to share something today after my appointment with Dr. Bobby. First, prior to starting my treatment I researched orthodontists who specialize in Invisalign and had Diamond ratings or above from Invisalign. I had consultations with 7 orthodontists in 2 different states over the course of several months before choosing Dr. Bobby. I am an adult with a very complex and difficult case two different dentists told me would be extremely difficult if not impossible to treat. Finding the best, most competent, and most experienced provider was my top priority. I am now 22 months into my treatment. I'll be honest, it hasn't been a fun process, that said, the process has been the absolute best possible scenario due to Dr. Bobby and his amazing staff. My case is more complex than most. Involving attachments, oral surgery, gold chains, elastic ties, and more... I work in a profession where I am speaking with people all day every day and I am occasionally on stage and/or on camera and despite all the complexity of my case, with Invisalign, NOBODY has known or even noticed I have anything going on with my teeth. That is genuinely amazing. That said, anyone who has a more simple case with Invisalign, even mildly complicated cases, Invisalign seems like a breeze compared to braces and is nearly, if not completely unnoticeable. Out of the 7 orthodontists I met with, 5 said they either couldn't or would not treat my case with Invisalign. Only Dr. Bobby and one other said they could do it, but the orthodontist who said he could, had never treated a case like mine with Invisalign, only Dr. Bobby had. Even my general dentist who is a wonderful man and very experienced in treating patients with Invisalign is in awe of what Dr. Bobby has done with my case. He has told me multiple times he could not do what Dr. Bobby is doing and did not even know it was possible. Thank you to Dr. Bobby, Karina, Lu, his whole staff, and especially Kimberly who seemingly works miracles every time I am in the office. She removes and reattaches elastics by tying them to the tiny gold chains in my mouth which are SO small (like threading a needle) and so difficult to reach, I don't understand how any human being can do what she does and she does it so well, I even fell asleep one time while she was doing it! No numbing, no medication, I just fell asleep while she was performing a surgical level miracle inside my mouth. That is beyond amazing. On top of all that, if you have children, this is the most amazingly beautiful office you could possibly imagine. It feels like you are walking into a part of Disneyland. This office is truly something special. You will be in good hands. read more

We met Dr Bobby last year. My son was in desperate need of help! He was being made fun of by class mates because he had crooked teeth and one growing out of the gum sideways! My heart would break for him constantly. Upon our first visit, Dr Bobby laid it all out for us. At the time we did not have dental insurance so spacers, braces, the full treatment was going to cost a fortune. We were able to be placed into a payment plan, and my son was able to receive a full scale of treatment. The first step was to widen his jaw. They did this with a spacer which I had to turn each night with a key to extend his jaw. At 11yrs old he had the jaw size of a 5yr old and all his teeth had no room to grow in. After we were able to space his jaw out, his top braces were placed on. Since he is picked on already on a daily basis, we chose to go with clear braces with ultra thin wire. You can barely tell that he even has braces. He loves this. His top teeth have responded beautifully, I for one am ecstatic over the results already! He just had his bottom braces places in yesterday. We can not wait to see the end result. We know his mouth is going to be beautiful and he will be so happy! Now let's talk about the office. Every person in there have phenomenal customer service. Your welcomed the second you walk in. Our favorite dental assistant is Nichole. Tyler just adores her and she's always shows concern about his well being. I love chatting with her and like my children, look forward to visiting this office. The inside is totally all for kids. 5 or 6 Digital games for children (or parents lol) to play while waiting. There is a huge tiger by the front desk my kids love to sit on, lay on, just pretend they are riding a wild tiger! There is a tree with monkeys hanging from it. It's adorable and the younger children really enjoy it! The walls have jungle themes painted on them as they share the building with Dr Sara and the jungle of smiles. Perfect team! All in all, this is an amazing dental office. It makes children feel comfortable, offers them incentives, are very kind and care about their patients. We love it here. The office staff are not accommodating especially with working parents. In addition, these days there are 2 phases to the process and I had no idea I would have to pay for both. Back in the day it was one phase, you get braces and then you get them off. I don't think his communication about the ENTIRE process was transparent. He told us this after we paid. Nice! read more

Dr. Bobby came highly recommended. Both of our daughter's went to Dr. Bobby at the same time. He is personable. The office staff was difficult to deal with and Dr. Bobby had us deal with one person directly, which was helpful. My younger daughter got her braces off first. She received a cheap plastic retainer. It got holes in it within 2 months and then broke completely in 5 months. We had to pay an additional $800 (above the $5,000 for the braces) for a new retainer. I was told it would be of stronger plastic. Why wouldn't they use stronger plastic to begin with? We chose the old fashion retainer since we had to pay the additional $800. The older daughter got her braces off a month after the younger one. Also $5,000. I told Dr. Bobby that I did not want her braces off as her front tooth was still sticking out. He assured me that the retainer would fix it and it would be good to have her braces off when school started. I asked him before the braces came off, what happens if I am not satisfied? He said that the braces would go back on. I asked who would pay for it and he said he would. She went for 2 years trying to get her tooth fixed. I would take off of work to bring her some of the time. We were all exhausted over the fact that the tooth would not go back with the retainer (isn't that why you get the braces and not a retainer?) Dr. Bobby was nice and would talk with our dentist because the dentist did not feel it was straight. I had my husband take her last summer and Dr. Bobby said it should move now. Then my daughter went back again by herself and was told that she is done to come back for a check. I made the appointment for the check and was told it would cost $85 since the braces came off over 2 years ago. I had said that no it should not, as this is a problem case. She checked with Dr. Bobby and I was told that there would be a charge. I said that I think he would want to make this right, if not, I would let others know. It has been 2 weeks and I have not heard back. I am writing because I had faith that Dr. Bobby would do what he said. It is now 2 1/2 years after my daughter got her braces off and the tooth is still is not correct. After braces are off and if children do not wear their retainers, yes teeth can move. However, if the braces are taken off when you see the tooth not align and am told that it will be straight over time with the retainer and the tooth does not move, it should be fixed. My oldest daughter started her braces before 8th grade. Now she is a senior and her tooth still sticks out. Her teeth were not bad to start with. I wish I would have stuck to my guns and had the braces stay on until I did not see the tooth stick out. I do not have an extra $5,000 to get braces again. read more

I've had invisalign twice now. Both times with Dentist. I had no idea that there was a difference between a Dentist and an Orthodontist. So, I wised up over the years. So this time I needed to make sure I did my full and thorough research. So I have been to a couple consultations around the area. Some good, some bad. But if interested, read my other reviews for the places I do not recommend. Based on my experiences, I never make a decision the day I come in because of the issues I learned. But my experience was so great, I didn't need to look else where. The staff was great, Dr. Bobby was down to earth, answered all my questions, taught me a thing or two about myself and the Ortho industry and he also gave ME the autonomy to make my own decisions about my decisions. Never did he push or manipulate or pressure me. Prices are fair and affordable however, I do have good insurance so that benefited me more. They have an awesome practice, well decorated and patient positive reinforcement rewards! I've been coming to Dr. Bobby for almost 2 years now and I have nothing but great things to say about him and his staff. Before I committed to my invisalign treatment I was a little nervous and hesitant because I didn't know what to expect. However, after meeting with Dr. Bobby I felt confident that he would do a great job. He took x-rays and showed me a digital video of how my teeth would transform. He also is very reasonable and fair with his pricing. From the very beginning he was very upfront with me on the details of what my treatment was going to be like. He is very clear throughout the process of what to expect and takes time answering all my questions/concerns. Not only is he extremely professional, but he has a kind and thoughtful side. He scheduled my treatment so that he could take off my attachments for my wedding. Although, it was more work for him and the staff he wanted to ensure that I was happy. So thrilled with Dr. Bobby and his staff. I have 3 children in braces (2 metal and 1 Invisalign) at the same time. They worked with us on financing and made it manageable. My daughter had been a patient of Dr. Bobby for an expander and we were satisfied with the results. After treatment, I received his professional advice that my daughter was an ideal candidate for Invisalign. Despite a second opinion against it, we decided to trust Dr. Bobby. The previous treatment was good, and my children had been going to Dr. Sarah for years. After two years, my daughter still has one incisor in that is visibly more forward than the other, a 5mm overbite and an uncorrected curve of Spee. He showed pictures from before her activator treatment and said he was happy with "improvement." Despite these issues, Dr. Bobby insisted that her treatment was done, and that he could "file down" the incisor if I wanted. What?! I could not believe he suggested this. The alternative? Another $1800 for 6 months of treatment. Needless to say, I declined both. My daughter is currently undergoing treatment for braces by a knowledgeable and experienced orthodontist who is not motivated by Invisalign kickbacks. We are paying the full cost for this treatment. After 12 years with Dr. Sarah, my children are no longer under her care. I could not overlook that it was her recommendation of Dr. Bobby that started this terrible waste of time and money. read more

My son and I love Dr. Bobby and his staff. We pass other orthodontist offices on our 25 minute drive to OCO as it totally worth the drive. We also have Dr. Sarah as our dentist. My son is now on phase 2 with Invisalign braces. He is so happy that he doesn't have to wear traditional braces now that he is starting middle school. Dr Bobby is one of the best orthodontists I have come across in all of my years. Especially for children! My daughter is now nearly 21 but I brought her in when she was 7 to try to start the process of making room for her teeth as they started to come in. He was a genius for suggesting braces for a very short time on her front teeth while she was younger which allowed her to avoid having them after all of her permanent teeth came in without enough room! She always looked forward to her appointments because she actually liked him (how many moms can say that about their kid's dentist/orthodontist?!) The adjustments he made to her bite early on made the final corrections that came a couple of years later so much faster and easier and we were able to use Invisalign to accomplish them. If I had taken her to the original doctor who we had seen for a consultation prior to Dr B. she would have had a huge space between her teeth and crowding in the back and it would have been a much bigger deal to fix once her permanent teeth started to come in! read more

Beware of unethical and potentially illegal fees. We recently had our 11 year old checked for braces, we paid for the x-rays, no problem, I understand they need a baseline. They seem to do fine work, but they are priced on the higher side. We found another Orthodontist closer to our home who would do my daughters braces at near half the price. They were going to take X-Rays, but I suggested that we get the X-Rays transferred over from Orange Coast Orthodontics. When I called the office, they said my wife had signed a document stating that it would cost $450 just to give me a copy of the X-Ray's we already paid for. The X-Ray itself only costs just over $100. But a copy would cost $450? Obviously, this is to dissuade clients from going to another Orthodontist and if they do they will have to pay for new X-Rays, or pay OCO $450. There is only one problem with all of this. It's illegal. Per HIPPA, any Doctor must transfer medical records per the request. They can charge 'reasonable' fee, not too exceed the original cost. Obviously $450 is way beyond that. We have been going to Dr. Sarah for many years for Denistry, now we will be going somewhere else for regular Dentistry and for our braces. #nowaytotreatcustomers read more

A great environment for children but after multiple years getting treated like cattle, we have moved onto a different facility. Doctor Bobby rarely worked on our children's orthodontics and his staff missed a multitude of misaligned and/or broken braces (I had to point it out to his staff after our appointment). Went in for my son's custom retainer. Dr. Bobby suggested this simpler approach rather than the more intensive expander after his initial exam, which my son and I both appreciate. We were greeting by a welcoming reception staff and despite going on a school holiday when the office was quite busy, the appointment was efficient and our wait time was minimal. The staff that assisted my son were friendly and made his appointment comfortable. He gave my son clear and easy care instructions for his retainer. Dr Bobby is awesome. read more

Save your time and MONEY and go somewhere else. He charges PREMIUM price for the treatments and not only he doesn't deliver premium results he doesn't deliver any results. He lures you and your kids with an office environment that is terrific, personnel that is so numerous that in my opinion is a minus because you hardly get to have personal experience since every time someone else is assisting your kid with the treatment. So you end up basically paying for the nice office and running staff, rather than satisfactory results on your kid's treatment. So let me tell you about my experience, so you can draw your conclusions. I went there year and a half ago with concern that my daughter has an oversized bite. I specifically told Dr Bobby that I want the bite to be correct, and also asked him if it would it be OK for treatment to start since 2/3 of my daughter's permanent teeth are not out yet. Like any other dentist, he was big on promises: Jaw could be corrected in one year "NO problems" with twin blocks and the fact that my daughter hasn't gotten her permanent teeth yet doesn't matter. "We can start the treatment right away, just pay $3000." After 14 months he decided that the treatment was over because, according to him her back teeth were alighted and that meant that her jaw was corrected. I told him that aligning the back teeth was maybe part of the process but not the final result, because my daughter's upper jaw, along with the bite was still very much there. There were visible results the first few months of the treatment and after that nothing. Well, he "heard my concerns" and decided to accommodate my discontent with putting braces on the upper four front teeth. My daughter wore the braces for 6 months, lost all the progress on the jaw that she made with the twin blocks (because when she put the blocks after removing the braces they didn't fit, that means her jaw moved to the position that we started from). The results of the braces are ever worse, she now practically has oversized square bite, it is very hard to explain, but her mouth is a mess, worse than when we started the process. I haven't seen more inadequate treatment. Now he wants another $3K to continue with phase 2, because according to him, he did perform phase 1 satisfactory and need to move to another rip off procedure (BTW there wasn't any word of mentioning of phase 1 and phase 2 when I signed for treatment. All along I was paying for comprehensive treatment and now since last visits he was talking about completing only phase 1). I am so frustrated with the whole experience with this dentist. My daughter is frustrated as well, as she doesn't like how her jaw looks. It has been painful experience. read more

I am blessed to have a son but he is cursed to have my small mouth and crowded teeth. When the time came to figure out what needed to be done, Dr. Bobby and his staff took the time to thoroughly explain and craft a game plan. Things have changed a lot since my crowded teeth were treated and I appreciate how Dr. Bobby and his staff at Orange Coast Orthodontics are trying to preserve my son's teeth rather than cut them out like my oral surgeon did many years ago. Since Dr. Sarah referred us to Dr. Bobby for our orthodontic needs, we were given a price break on my son's appliance and if you pay the total amount up front, they are willing to give you an additional discount. Five stars for now and after a few more checkups hopefully it will stay at five. We have been very pleased with our maiden voyage into the orthodontic world.
