We will NOT be back after this last stay. My two dogs boarded for ONE night this last go around and my beagle ended up with a torn acl. BUT because they have her on camera walking normally out of the facility when I picked them up, they are refusing to take responsibility. My dog was lifted in and out of my vehicle by me, my dog has not been subject to any unusual day to day activities since I picked her up. She started exhibiting her symptoms as soon as we got home. Previous stays have resulted in Urinary tract infections in both my dogs on separate occasions which leads me to believe my dogs weren't getting adequate water and their room wasn't kept adequately clean. BUT the owner of the facility basically told me I was a crappy per owner and they could have come to boarding already sick. (Total bs). My Great Dane has come home with screaming raw abrasions on her elbows more than once and I'm pretty sure it's because they remove all bedding from the room HOURS before they get picked up and she is forced to lay on the concrete. I tried to voice each concern with the owner separately in a phone call, not only was he flippant and rude, he barely let me get a word in edgewise over his constant excuse making. He pretty much told me to never bring my pets back to the facility as they'd be better off without my business, and I sure as hell won't be! I worked for a 13 room luxury boarding facility for 2 years before we moved to Texas. Never in my life have I dealt with someone so nasty and rude. read more

I boarded my 2 small dogs from April 23 - May 10, 2022. Upon picking my dogs up on May 10, 2022 I noticed my one dog right eye had a lump of yellow/greenish stuff. I asked the woman who checked me out, how long had my dog eye been oozing the stuff and she said I just got back let go ask. She returned and told me that no one noticed anything. I then asked, so my dogs had no interaction with other dogs per my request, did they not have interaction with the staff. I called my pets veterinarian office in the presence of the same staffer who checked me out. I paid $75.00 for an emergency visit. Upon completion of my visit to the veterinarian, I returned and told the same woman my dog has an eye infection which she did not have when I dropped them off. I presented her with the receipt from the visit and requested reimbursement. She said she'd let the owner know. NO ONE FROM THE ESTABLISHMENT HAD THE COURTESY To CONTACT ME AND ASK HOW MY DOG IS DOING. Jerome the owner requested that I get my dogs veterinarian to write something stating that they caused the problem. REALLY? They identified the problem and treated my dog along with prescription. My biggest problem is no staff could say when they first saw the problem with my dog. They had my veterinarian information they had 2 different contact phone numbers . I left a small bag of IAMS dog food , when I picked my dogs up I was given the bag of food almost with the same amount of food in it. Both of my dogs lost 1 1/2 - 2 pounds and I have the proof. It's very obvious they weren't fed as I informed they are self fed. Bottom line, Board here and hope nothing happens. Lesson learned, I'll board at the luxury pet hotel next time. They give you a link to your dogs room and because they have nothing to hide, you can check in on your pet children at any time and see how they are doing. It will be worth it. read more

The staff is always friendly, and they always have room and time for our dog. We use their services pretty regularly between doggy daycare and full boarding. I'm not sure how other places handle it, but there's never been an issue if we picked her up early or needed to adjust our days. Our dog is timid with people, and I took her to our vet for daycare when we first adopted her. After the first visit she never wanted to go back in the building, but she goes crazy when we get to Barker Heights. She loves it there. read more

They took excellent care of our dogs from the time we entered the facility until we picked our girls up a few days later. We reserved a room with the internet camera so we could check in on our furry girls. They could go outside whenever they wanted and return when they wanted. Got sent to Houston to assist with hurricane recovery and had very little time to find a place to put my cat and dog while I was gone. Barker heights allowed me to drop my pets off the same day I called and allowed me to keep them there the entire duration of my time away with no issues. When I came back to get my dog and cat they were happy and healthy and they also gave me a great deal considering my pets had been there for several weeks. I am so thankful for this place and will always bring my pets here when I need to go anywhere! read more

At first, bringing my dog to Barker Heights seemed like a good idea. When I dropped him off everyone was really friendly and I had a good feeling. However, picking him up was a different story. I paid extra for a Sunday pickup. On Sunday I arrived to pick up my dog and they brought him out with the leash wrapped around his neck like a choker and the first thing they asked me is if he had a collar. Yes he had a collar when I dropped him off. Then they told me they could not find his toys I brought with him along with the collar. The collar had his name on a laser cut ID Tag. Then they bring out his bedding which was covered in urine and feces. My dog is very well potty trained so I dont' know why this would be the case. So here I am in the lobby with a dog with a leash wrapped around his neck choker style with bedding stinking to high heaven and his other items lost. To top all this off, after paying extra for Sunday pickup, there were nothing but High school teenagers there who could not handle the situation at all. There were absolutely no regular workers at the establishment to rectify these issues. I will never be coming back here again. read more

Yeah!!! A clean and quality boarder that my dog enjoys visiting. The team at BHBB is stellar and professional. They do their best to adapt to their customer's needs. Initially I had my dog boarded for 8 days. I called in the middle of vacation and said that my dog sitter would retrieve her 2 days earlier. Instead of charging me for 2 unfulfilled days, they agreed to the 6 day stay with no penalty. That's a first, trust me. Their rooms are clean and lead out to a private yard. Other boarders have enclosed rooms and the dogs have to rely on the staff to let them out. Their doggie daycare is stellar and the dogs from what I have seen are always supervised. My girl loves going to daycare twice a week! They do offer a military discount for boarding and discount punch cards for doggie daycare. Only wish their grooming offered more services ($30) such as anal gland expression ear cleaning, and teeth cleaning. All in all, the best find in the Killeen & Harker Heights area! read more

The staff is extremely friendly and take excellent care of the dogs and cats that stay at their state of the art facility. We have taken our German Shepherd here for doggy day care and also boarded him for a few days - both times we had awesome service and our pup seemed very happy. Boarded our dog here for 6 nights and had a terrible experience. Our dog was returned to us covered in animal feces, throwing up, diarrhea and all of her bedding was covered in animal feces as well. This business also has terrible customer service and used their time making excuses rather than making an attempt at truly explaining what happened and no effort whatsoever to try and rectify what took place. Instead, the owner threatened to sue for defamation if negative reviews were made. Now, as with all poor reviews, this business will make an attempt at trying to spin this in such a way to somehow downplay what took place, but they and we both know what happened. Everyone we know will also be made aware of our experience with Barker Heights Bed and Biscuit so they can make a more informed decision when they might need to board one of their animals as well. Brought my dog here twice. Both time there was feeding issues. The front desk assures me they was feeding my dog but the bag they returned to me with my dog items had 2 1/2 serving of food still in it. She also told me wouldn't eat but if you switched his food of course he wouldn't eat. Who so ever is in charge of the feeding doesn't care about the animals at all. Disgusting!!! I have 4 dogs and we had them stay over the new year. They came back so gross and dirty also covered in fleas! We had to take them to the groomer as soon as we picked them up. There was no way I was letting them stay like that. And my lab had to go to the vet because she got sick. We take care of our dogs like they are our children we know they didn't get anything from us! And the response we got from them was rude and unprofessional! Don't take your dogs there!! Unless you want them mistreated and obviously neglected! Each time I brought my dogs here, they came back super stinky. The last time, one of my dogs came back with a severe infection around her neck that led to scarring. Instead of taking her to my vet that that's just down the street, that we trust and who know my dogs, they took her to theirs, who I don't know or trust. So all this hassle, my dog being all messed up, still got charged full price for terrible service. Then took her to my vet for a second opinion and they were shocked. Took pictures, documented everything and it ain't pretty. Not going back, found a much better place that we'll take our family to from now on. read more

BHBB is the BEST pet boarding facility in central Texas. We have used them for the past couple years and they always remember my 2 dogs and automatically know their needs. The kennels are very spacious rooms that lead to private yards. All of the staff are very friendly and will do almost anything to ensure you pet has a wonderful stay and they also ensure that your every need is met as far as care to the animals. I have a male Boxer and he LOVES this place. I can honestly say that when I tell him that he's going to daycare today, he is overly excited with joy! When we pull into the parking lot he can sense that he's at his second favorite place (home being his first of course). The staff members are super friendly and very attentive to their customers and our pets. I am happy that this place exists here in the Killeen area. Barker Heights really gives my pet the exercise that he needs. When he comes home he simply eats and goes to sleep! This makes for relaxing nights such as this one on a Friday night. I dropped two of my kittens off with them when I had to leave unexpectedly and couldn't take them with me. It was the first time I'd ever had to leave them in 3 months since we got them as kittens. On the plus side, the rooms were roomy and there were no other kittens there. Two major negative things were the radio was way too loud and the air conditioner wasn't working. It was really humid and muggy in the facility. When I went to pick them up one of them was wet from tipping over her water bowl and there was litter stuck to their toys. One of the employees went to get my babies when I was ready to pick them up, but he acted surprised when I wanted to pick them up and crate them back myself. One of my kittens was super skittish and didn't want a stranger to try and pick her up. She was so upset and was the one whose fur was wet. My other baby was fine, but happy to see me. Overall, I don't believe they neglected them or did them any harm, but I would have preferred to see their rooms kept a bit cleaner from the litter and the noise level down to a reasonable level rather than being blasted. I do realize dogs like the comfort of the noise, but the cats should have a bit more peace. I know some people will say I'm just overprotective, but anyone who deals with cats should know better/ read more

I have had my dog to Barker Heights three times. Twice, I picked her up with bleeding cuts. This last time, the cuts were significant, as they were red and bleeding on her rib cage and hind quarters. The staff had not noticed them and, as a result, had not cleaned them. The cuts were immediately visible to me when the staff brought her out. The staff claimed that they supervise the pets when they play. Unfortunately, I question if this is true. I take my dog to the dog park often and supervise her closely. Not once has she ever gotten bit or scratched to the point of bleeding. I understand that dogs may play rough at times but proper supervision prevents injury. Sadly, I will not take my dog to Barker Heights, again. I hope others have better experiences there than I did. read more

I don't like to give reviews especially bad one's but I feel it's only fair for other people out their looking to board their pets. I boarded my 2 dogs for a few days in October. When I went in to view the facility and fill out the necessary paper work I made 2 points very clear. One was that my older dog has arthritis and has discomfort in her hips and the second point was that I wanted the in-room camera service they offer. The cameras was the service that made me ultimately choose this facility. As soon as I mentioned the cameras the response was very quick to explain how the cameras don't work during peek boarding times like holidays. I thought that a little odd because I wasn't boarding during a peek holiday time and the statement seemed on the defensive side. But I brushed it off as if they had complaints about it before and just wanted to be clear.The morning I dropped off my dogs it was pouring rain and I had car troubles. I had to borrow a vehicle from my boss and was running late. Because of this I chose not to bring my own dogs beds because this facility gave me the option of my own or they would supply "bedding" I explained and mentioned again about my older dog with hip problems and confirmed they would put "Bedding" in their room. I also stated I wanted to purchase the in-room camera service. I was told the cameras were not working because of the rain but as soon as they got them working they would call me with the info I needed to log on. This was on a Saturday. By Monday morning I never received a call, so I called. I was told the camera in my dogs room didn't work because a large dog in the room prior to my dogs broke the camera. I explained how no one called me and I boarded with them mostly for the camera service. I was told they would have someone fix the camera and they would call me. Well they did, pretty quickly too hmm, but this really made me question their service. Why were my dogs put in a room with a broken camera when I mentioned several times I wanted the camera service??? They were not booked up. I guarantee if I didn't call they never would have called me. (I was returning the following day) When I viewed my dogs room I was very upset to see their idea of bedding was 2 towels on a hard floor! I called, explained my dog has arthritis in her hips. Please give her something softer, LIKE A BED to sleep on. They very quickly brought a cot in with a cushion and sheets to cover. Great but I was boarding 2 dogs and of course while my older dog was out in the yard area the other dog was going to pick the soft bed over a towel right? So I called again. Asked can you please give them both a bed? Sure enough they brought in another cot but this one had a BIG hole on one end and no cushion. I called again! Explained the beds must be equal so my arthritic dog wont end up with the crappy bed. Once again they went into the room and put a cushion and a cover on the 2nd cot. Sure enough my older dog came in from the yard area and slept in the soft bed that night. I watched her until it was too dark to see. By this time I'm upset. This is not the luxury they advertise. Plus if they have the cots why did my dogs not have them in the first place? When I picked up my dogs I mentioned these issues and explained I just wanted them to know so they can use the info to provide better service and follow up on promised phone calls et cetera. I was given nothing but defensive excuses. When I asked about the non functioning camera and was the cause rain or a dog broke it? I was told it was both and how they just got the cameras up before I called. BUT they didn't do anything about the broken camera until I called. They didn't say "we were about to fix it"or "we are working on it now". They only fixed because I called. My dogs are fine but I lost trust in this place. Won't use them again. They should not advertise the cameras if they are not reliable. I understand about the rain but something else is fishy because they get all defensive a soon as cameras are mentioned. They shouldn't refer to the facility as luxury and then give my dogs a towel to sleep on and call that bedding. Never apologized or addressed my complaints in a way that admitted they dropped the ball on service. Just gave defensive excuses. Oh yea they didn't charge me for the 1 day of camera service. A $2 savings ha! read more

This place is great! We have used them several times and will continue to as they really are the best. The family that runs this business hand picks their staff. The place is always clean and is updated with technology so that you can use the web cams thousands of miles away and feel like you are right there! We have never had a problem with anything when our dogs where there. They are very accommodating. Our dogs needed to NBC together as they have never been apart. They opened up a new area just to keep our dogs together. Their staff loves animals. There is a wonderful caregiver named Quentin who was amazing! read more

First time we brought our puppies we loved it, they came home happy healthy and playful. So we booked them again. This time we are HIGHLY concerned. They didn't say it but tried to keep us from seeing the dog rooms, saying they had to clean it first. That left me feeling uneasy about leaving the dogs to begin with. RED FLAG #1 When we picked them up they looked starved, lethargic, and depressed, RED FLAG #2 like the were locked up and isolation. Plus one had a large cut on the hip... What concerned me was they didn't even NO or CARE to tell me about the cut. How in the heck did I notice in 30sec and they not see it 7 days...BOTTOM line they DIDNT CARE...i say this again THEY DID NOT CARE...they could of called, emailed or told me when we picked them up...NOPE..not a word. REALLY DISAPPOINTED and will look for another place to board my puppies.....the puppies are like family to us and we paid a pretty good price to have them taken care....only to pick them up hungry and depressed...and hurt......VERY CONCERNED.... This kennel advertises itself as luxurious when it's anything but. Having said that, I think most people just want a place where their pets get treated with care and compassion. From the beginning, the interaction with the staff felt weird, they behaved as if they didn't need my business and I was lucky to have them. They won't make a reservation for you until you fill out paperwork in person. The facility smells funky and they charged me $28.00 per night and that doesn't include food! This is a first for me, and I have been boarding my dog for many years. In the website they advertise a camera where you can see your pet anytime but when I boarded my dog, it was made very clear the camera service was unavailable. This is not a huge deal. The website also advertises your dog will get walked many times but it was also made very clear to me that "weather dependent", he might go out in the yard once a day (also thought this was not what they advertised). I still boarded my dog there against my gut feeling. When I picked him up, he was severely dehydrated, when he got home I had to keep giving him water. He was also limping and had a very awful smell. I called Barker to inquire if he had been in an accident and to inform the horrid condition in which he was when I picked him up. Naturally, the manager (without having checked) immediately defended her staff by stating the dogs "always have water" and that she had no knowledge of accidents (she didn't even know what dog we were talking about). I asked her to investigate and she later called me back with the same answer. Bottom line, from a person that has used several boarding services over the years, this is by far the worst experience, be careful when taking your pet here, ensure the camera works, your pet gets walked as he/she should and be ready to provide everything cause they won't, so much for a bed and "biscuit".
